It would be funny if it happened. I doubt it would be traumatic.

SO MUCH THIS! Now, if she grabbed hold and didn't let go? She's probably going to get a fist in the face. But, if she copped a feel on her way by? I'd probably bust out laughing. And I REALLY dislike people touching me. But? That would be funny as hell.

You're missing the entire point. Trump wasn't saying "I'm going to go grab this girls pussy" his message to another male friend in 'private' is: "from my experience women are so bat shit insane for my money and power they will allow me to randomly touch their genitals. They will allow marriages and relationships and self pride to be destroyed just to have the chance to get access and face time with a high status male. Aren't girls bizarre and disloyal? Lets bond." This was simply male bonding and reflection on male and female differences is was not evidence/omission of past, present, or future molestation of women. Furthermore, you can't molest someone that wants you to touch them. We will never know if she wanted him to touch her because he never actually touched her! It was a private conversation with no action.

Edit. To answer your question. It would depend on the female and the situation. The situation you are asking us about is not the same situation as trump. Would I support Gina having a private conversation about past encounters with men and then Gina not touching me?? Yea. I'm find with that. Would I want a female equivalent of trump touching me. If money equals hot, then yes. That would be a real equivalent. If I didn't want to get touched by women I'd ask them not to touch me. A touch is really not assault in my opinion. If women were touching me every day in my privates and it started to bother me I'd wear some type of shirt that said: don't touch me. Or I'd simply ask women not to touch me when we met. Put we don't really have a problem in society with men or women randomly groping people so I'm not sure what the issue is...

[–]disposable_pants2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Trump wasn't saying "I'm going to go grab this girls pussy" his message to another male friend in 'private' is: "from my experience women are so bat shit insane for my money and power they will allow me to randomly touch their genitals."

As someone who thinks Trump is a lunatic and shouldn't be in the same zip code as the White House, you're absolutely correct. I highly doubt he actually goes around and grabs women's crotches. Unwanted advances? Sure. Uncomfortable touching/proximity? I can believe it. But it strains belief to imagine a guy literally grabbing women by the pussy -- even if it actually happens.

Democratic attacks on Trumps comments would be far more effective if they realized this. If you're trying to sway someone who's considering Trump, you don't take the most hyperliteral interpretation of a comment that's clearly a guy trying to make a crass joke. The other side will just (rightly) point out that this is just another example of people being overly sensitive, a concept that probably attracted you to Trump in the first place.

Instead, just focus on how un-Presidential and juvenile the guy sounds. Don't oversell it; just asking "is this the guy we want representing America" is more than enough.

[–]JackGetsItRed Pill Man2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well said. I'm not a trump supporter myself either but it's media plays like this that allow the trump train to keep rolling.

Oh and if I let someone " take me furniture shopping" while I am married or in another form of committed relationship... that is on me.

Also, cars backfiring. Fucking vets are spoiled little snowflakes. People with PTSD need to stop acting like their triggers are as important as real triggers like the word "trigger".

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You're comparing being a war veteran to having your junk grabbed? Lol.

[–]ProbablyBelievesIt[S] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, I'm comparing how it feels to have my junk grabbed, when I have sexual assault PTSD, and how a veteran with PTSD feels when they hear something that sounds like a gun.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Whoop-de-doo but you asked a general question which didn't assume we as responders to your thread have PTSD so it's completely irrelevant.

War =/= Octopussing

[–]ProbablyBelievesIt[S] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

PTSD = PTSD.

You don't know what people have been through, and grabbing a rape survivor's genitals may have the same effect as pointing a gun at a soldier with PTSD.

[–]ThusspakeI don't have a neckbeard2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

PTSD = PTSD.

Don't agree with you there. Pretty sure you can have more or less severe symptoms. Have you seen the videos of shell shocked men from the first world war? You're telling me that they have a similar experience (having seen their best friend fragged in front of them and splattered in their face) as a woman who had a man force himself on her?

The relevant difference between the two cases is that, in the case of the soldier, a person blowing up in your face is pretty much always at least shocking. Rape, on the other hand, is context dependent - what constitutes it is dependent on how the victim perceives the events in their mind. So, that's why I think there's a difference between the two.

[–]ProbablyBelievesIt[S] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

PTSD is a disease of traumatic memory. It's trying to keep you alive, but it takes you back to a fight, flight, or freeze scenario, over and over again, and it absolutely feels like you're dying or going insane. Or both.

Having hung out with a few vets who have it too, it was great to be with someone who actually understood, and we could swap notes, and help each other out.

So no, you're not helping when you try to police who you think is allowed to have PTSD, any more than radfems are.

context dependent

There are troops who don't get PTSD at all. Some can adapt to a warzone, and then return home and resume their lives. And there are even killers out there, in or out of uniforms, who actually enjoy the killing.

a person blowing up in your face is pretty much always at least shocking.

So is the possibility of someone creating new life, with your body.

[–]ThusspakeI don't have a neckbeard0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

And there are even killers out there, in or out of uniforms, who actually enjoy the killing. a person blowing up in your face is pretty much always at least shocking. So is the possibility of someone creating new life, with your body.

Can you see the difference here though? In certain contexts, a woman may actually desire that a man 'create a new life with her body' (although that seems to put the woman in a passive role). On the other hand, no (normal) person would ever desire that their friend be blown up in their face. Maybe some will not be affected because they have good coping mechanisms, but a normal sane person will never desire their friend to blow up whereas a normal sane person may desire to have children.

All I'm saying is I don't think that all cases of PTSD are the same - not saying that people aren't allowed to have it (whatever that means). I'm saying there are important differences in cases and we shouldn't treat them the same. The psyche is not a simple thing. You can't go out with a broad brush and say that all PTSD reactions are the same when 'triggered'. Our mental lives are always coloured by our self-awareness. A vet with PTSD knows he's not in a war zone so, when he gets triggered by a car backfiring he can rationally calm his irrational side. A woman may (actually) not be able to do that in the case of rape. However social contexts are far more nuanced than wars. People are either dead or alive in wars. What is or is not sexual assault or rape is far more complex. Consent is not black and white as stupid people like to claim. There are degrees depending on intoxication and indications of prior interest etc. In the moment a woman may also be confused about her own feelings towards the wanted/unwanted actions (maybe not in yours).

Finally, I think, especially in your case of sexual assault PTSD, unless you felt your life was in some way threatened you definitely don't have the same kind of condition as vets do. It may come under the same umbrella, but your fight or flight response did not have the same kinds of stimulii as a vet who may have died on a battle field. Not saying you genuinely don't experience a ForF, just saying I think its a different kind of response.

[–]ProbablyBelievesIt[S] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Consent is not black and white

Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Demanding that a no, or even no reaction at all, be interpreted as shades of gray with a silver lining, is just as foolish as insisting every no means no.

You can't go out with a broad brush and say that all PTSD reactions are the same when 'triggered'.

Of course not. What you're trained to do in response to a traumatic experience varies. And some of us have more experience dealing with that trauma, and can recover more easily, than others.

But if you want to insist that a penis violently impaling your body, and against your will, is completely different from any other weapon, so far as primitive instinct is concerned, then you're still very naive. Not that there aren't differences, but there's clear overlap to any objective eye.

And even men who are raped by women against their will, may be painfully aware of what happens if their rapist claims to be the victim. It's not that different from the kind of helpless adrenaline one faces as a potential POW, and what's happening would be recognized as torture by any definition.

If you're vulnerable to PTSD, all it takes is a traumatic experience. It's very democratic, that way. The soldier who kills a boy to save himself, suffers just the same as the soldier who was shot. And how often does a rape survivor lash out, run, or freeze up, when they're triggered? Why does the civilian survivor of just a gun pointed at their head, one that wasn't even fired? Why does the abused child act out, or simply die inside?

What brought you to the hell of PTSD may vary, and there's no question that some have it worse than others. But so much of what our individual Hell gifts us, is a kind of shared suffering.

There's no way to predict how bad your suffering it will be, just by the path you walked to get there.

[–]ThusspakeI don't have a neckbeard0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But so much of what our individual Hell gifts us, is a kind of shared suffering.

Right. Welcome to the suck. That's an interestingly masculine (or at least comedic) outlook I think.

You must admit, though, that some people's sufferings are just not as important as other's. Some people may be so dramatically affected by having e.g. their car stolen as another may be by having their spouse killed. We must, at some point, draw the line between legitimate and illegitimate levels of suffering for any given tradgegy. Not saying PTSD is illegitimate, its just an easy mistake to make when talking about people's suffering in general.

Yeah, some people went to Hell. And some people never completely leave.

Now, tell me what that has to do with why rape survivors with PTSD should welcome a trip back to their own Hell? Start with "I don't understand how PTSD works, and I don't care what you're going through."

No, I'd never mock anyone's PTSD.

My real target was the kind of asshole offended by anyone else's triggers. They tend to be right wing, so I hoped they'd at least understand what PTSD really is, if I brought up, and dismissed a soldier's Hell the way they were casually dismissing what triggers my PTSD, and a lot of other people's.

I should have included an /s.

Thank you for actually sticking up for your boyfriend, and learning how to make a difference in a lot of people's lives.

[–]ThusspakeI don't have a neckbeard0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The reason people mock 'triggers' is because the left have abused the term and used it as an excuse to police people's speech and actions to an unreasonable degree.

What the right see is 'triggered' being used as a smokescreen for the ban-hammer going down on anything that is simply offensive (not triggering). Trigger warnings are probably overused today because people don't understand what triggering actually involves. In my understanding the mere mention of triggering content is not sufficient to actually trigger - there must be vivid description sufficient to transport the victim back in their mind to the relevant events.

So e.g. when college classes won't display long dead corpses etc. in an archeology class because they might trigger people, we, who value adults not behaving like children, become slightly ticked off. Mostly I think the trigger warning thing is a problem in campuses. In the rest of the world people are free to insulate themselves from things that make them uncomfortable. The whole point of universities is to make people uncomfortable and expose them to content they may not wish to see. The far left does not want this and that is why the right (even thought I'm not really right wing) oppose them.

[–]rulenumber3033 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

[–]bottles_n_models“Human life must be some kind of mistake" Schopenhauer1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

I mean everyone here knows where youre going with this, let me make this clear women dont enjoy sexual attention like men do because they get so much of it its bothersome. Most men dont get enough sexual attention and so any is flattering. Yes believe it or not ugly or old women. Also truth be told there is a power dynamic at play, If I actually feel threatened i can probably fight her off. If I am a little kid and someone much bigger and strong is being super inappropriate and not respecting my boundaries id be scared and it would suck. Thats why I dont condone men not respecting womens boundaries. But I suspect there are more issues at play with the donald trump thing since these women are professional models and he is a rich guy.

[–]GridReXXit be like that5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

And that's it.

Most women feel threatened by aggressive men simply because men are bigger and stronger.

If some chick grabs you in a way you don't like you know when push comes to shove you could body slam her ass.

Women don't have that assurance so such unwanted touching or posturing is in fact more threatening to us and understandably so.

[–]jackandjill22Red Pill misanthropic, contrarian0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Body-slam?

[–]GridReXXit be like that4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Why the ellipsis ?

It's always about unwanted.

An example.

My SO can grab my ass.

Random dude at bar cannot.

[–]bottles_n_models“Human life must be some kind of mistake" Schopenhauer1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Because some irrational feminist people like to pretend girls are complete inactive in sexual seduction and dont actively participant or consent or initiate in sexual activity. Hence why the donald trump thing became a big deal, it seriously crossed no ones mind these girls were trying to get a leg up in business, have fun with a rich guy or were just bored and flirting? Nope it was literally 100 percent sexual abuse.

[–]ProbablyBelievesIt[S] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So, do you just not know about the women who've complained about unwanted assault?

[–]bottles_n_models“Human life must be some kind of mistake" Schopenhauer0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

So, do you just think we should believe anyone that complains about sexual assault?

I don't think we should just call them liars just because some socially awkward dudes lacking masculine role models want to believe "being alpha" is a cheat code that spawns instant pornography whenever and whereever they want it.

No, a bigger and obviously stronger person doesn't need to use any force to frighten their victim into compliance. Anyone who has been in a school playground knows that.

If you are reading this, nothing in your life will change if Trump gets elected. It won't benefit you in the slightest. Well, he has committed to an even more rabid War on Terror, so that would be slightly detrimental to the majority of Americans, and it will be extremely detrimental for those who get killed.

[–]SpaceWhiskey🍃 Social Justice Druid 🍂2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Good thing he'll never be elected. He's drowning in scandal.

[–]wub12340 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I'm not really a fan of Hillary either, but I'm willing to hold my nose considering how disastrous Trump would be. If nothing else I don't trust him not to nuke a country because they dissed him on Twitter.

[–]wub12341 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would rather Hillary won. I find it surprising that I'm saying that, but Trump is just an absolutely irredeemable person. Also, it will be funny to see the butthurt from Trump supporters, whereas it will be nowhere near as funny if Hillary loses.

[–]BPremiumMeh0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

why not? with trump being as potentially ready to hit the launch nuke button, wouldn't that just cow those who oppose him into compliance? that should be the American way: "be our ally, stand aside, or enjoy the radioactive pyrotechnic show we are sending to your backyard"

[–]SpaceWhiskey🍃 Social Justice Druid 🍂0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I don't want an asshole dictator for president. No one deserves to have nuclear weapons used against them. He's a sad joke and thankfully he's gonna lose by a landslide.

[–]BPremiumMeh0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

see I kind of view him as a Eric Cartman type character. Kind of a douche, but gets shit his way. So if China or whoever else decides to fuck with us, we pull a "Scott Tennerman must die" move and terrify others into compliance. If we want stuff other countries have than they best do what Craig advises the rest of the gang to do when Cartman wants something, namely "just give him half."

[–]SpaceWhiskey🍃 Social Justice Druid 🍂0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm a South Park fan and I'm incredibly disturbed that you'd actually want someone like Cartman in charge of America. The entire point of his character is that he's a terrible human being. Though the Trump comparison makes sense considering how many times Cartman has been compared to Hitler in the show.

[–]BPremiumMeh0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I dont actually want that, but I'd rather have that than someone like Hillary, who wants to give more and more to potentially dangerous minorities. I want someone who will turn an entire continent into a parking lot if they so much as look at us sideways. but that's just me lol

A lot of women are willing to have sex with ugly old men as long as they're rich and powerful. Men, on the other hand, aren't attracted to women's bank accounts, power, or status unless they're jiggalos who specialize in that kind of thing.

And women usually want a man who is above them, so this woman wouldn't want most of us anyway.

[–]GridReXXit be like that1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ehhh.

It's not attraction. It's strategy.

Also you would be surprised how many straight men would be willing to go on a few secret dates if there were just as many rich men into men.

I think you'd find a more equivalent comparison actually using Trump instead of this woman (or any woman, really).

I still wouldn't be all that bothered if Trump grabbed my junk (especially through my jeans). I would be more bothered if he just started kissing me, though I don't think I would even find that traumatic.

I think I'd have more of a "WTF was that?" reaction (accompanied, possibly, by a fist to the face for the kissing thing, though might not even be that bothered) than anything else...

[–]ProbablyBelievesIt[S] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I was actually more curious about how different the answers would be. In other people's experiments, most men (and quite a few high T women) aren't bothered by any of this at all. But the folks who are bothered by it, are more likely to have personal experience with a woman actually trying it.

The same thing happened here, but why?

[–]nomdplumeFormer Alpha0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I've had women grab my crotch before. I've also had men grab my crotch before. Neither particularly bothered me.

I've had women kiss me out of the blue. Again, didn't really bother me (and once, it led to sex, lol - yay me!).

I'm not sure what would bother me in that area. Some man I don't know trying to kiss me would probably be where the upsets start.

[–]ProbablyBelievesIt[S] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Hmm...so the mystery is more complicated. Why is it that you're not at all upset by sexual assault, despite leaning towards traditional masculine values, but I'm more femdom sub, and still, a sudden unwanted grope from a woman can and will destroy me, in ways simple violence doesn't? (I've been in enough fights to know.)

It can't be just the PTSD, because that visceral reaction is what started the PTSD to begin with. And I'm not the only one who has that kind of reaction, even if it's more common among women?

[–]nomdplumeFormer Alpha0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Why is it that you're not at all upset by sexual assault, despite leaning towards traditional masculine values

Don't know. Perhaps it's because I've been involved in a lot of pretty damn traumatic physical assaults such that something like a crotch grab or even an unwanted kiss doesn't really rate as something upsetting or violating for me. I've had much, much worse things happen to and around me.

I know you say that you've been in violent situations, so clearly that isn't a universal characterization, but that's the best I've got.

I'm also guessing that I've never, in my life, felt threatened by a woman (regardless of how aggressive or obnoxious she might be), and most of the men who have pulled shit with me tended to be more on the "twink" side of things such that I knew that they couldn't force me to do anything I didn't want to do. I'm a pretty big guy, so the average guy doesn't really threaten me. I'm sure that would all be put to the test if I were in, say, a prison, but as it stands, that's how it occurs.

I've never had what I would consider to be a visceral reaction to much of anything a woman has done, as far as I can remember (unless you're talking about a hot woman rubbing her boobs in my face - that elicits a pretty strong visceral reaction, lol), with the possible exception of finding out that a partner cheated, but even then, I would say that elicited more of an emotional reaction than a visceral one (ie, heartbreak vs. instinctual revulsion).

[–]ProbablyBelievesIt[S] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

I just woke up, so this might be a bit disjointed...

Perhaps it's because I've been involved in a lot of pretty damn traumatic physical assaults

There's the key. I don't know the hell you've walked through, and I'm not going to ask and take you back there, but...

I've never been there. Not from physical violence from a guy.

Leaving my dad's threats out of this -

I've been threatened a few times by men who could kill me without blinking, but two of the guys were begging me to fight them while I was playing free therapist: they just had rough lives and were making dumb mistakes. My weird brain had to fix them.

Someone trying to help them was the last thing they were expecting, and they took becoming the villain, instead of the anti-hero, pretty bad.

They didn't exactly turn their lives around.

Still, sticking to my strengths, and refusing to engage them on a battlefield where I couldn't possibly win (and neither could they, except in a way that ended with them in prison) is what's really meant by "keeping frame", isn't it?

There were a few actual fights, and they were more...stupid...but, except when I was a kid, I was at least trying to help someone. And when I was a kid? Stupid was my middle name.

Still, there was one exception to all of this. One time, where I just...didn't matter. Nothing I did, mattered.

The exception just clotheslined me hard enough that I have no memory at all. It turns out that move isn't as harmless as pro wrestling makes it look, especially if your thick skull is bouncing off of concrete.

That should probably be traumatic. It's just...not.

He was rejected by a friend, before he took me out from behind in an impotent rage, so it's more morbid comedy.

Edit: Before I send this, I'm editing this for readability. No reason to torture you with that long of a run-on.

Except... she was a pretty fucked up friend. It was all warm fuzzies over here until I remembered everything trying to help her added to my psych profile.

I'm also guessing that I've never, in my life, felt threatened by a woman

It's what they can do to you, if you even defend yourself. One phone call is all it takes. Or a lie to a wanna be hero - blue pill aside, I know what a white knight is, and why it's not a compliment.

Also, contrary to popular opinion, women can learn how to hurt people too, so it's not like they're going to just slap you and then cry while you laugh it off.

High T, high intelligence, and if they've been hurt before, they're looking at what they can do to muscles, tendons, and pressure points.

And then there's the fallout.

If I was a woman, and still a submissive leaning sadomasochist, almost nobody would try to congratulate me for where things went, not with my ex-friend, and especially not with my ex after her.

(I still hate "orbiters", because of what they got out of it all. Fucking diseased pieces of shit.)

Enough about them.

I'm trying to think about what you would have done, in my shoes, but I can't see you placing yourself in those situations, to begin with.

I'm a pretty big guy

Fuck genetics. :p

I've never had what I would consider to be a visceral reaction to much of anything a woman has done

PTSD turns me 5 years old, and terrified. It doesn't take much to trigger it. Trying to fight it, in public, just exposed me to more predators.

Despite everything that happened, the predators who were attracted to my hurt...they weren't all horrible people. Some were determined to help, despite their worst instincts. Or, maybe, because of?

It just took me a long time to recognize that. To me, all I could see, whenever I was reduced to a child's terror, was the predator.

And when it ended, and I was turned back to an adult, I suddenly felt so disgusting, for my instincts as prey.

What was wrong with me? The idea that anything healthy could happen from a merry chase...that there was something pretty normal and even healthy in all of this...

That took time.

Fuck fundie religion.

So, ultimately, the biggest difference between us, genetics aside, is that you don't have any reason to be afraid of a grope. It only exposes your strength.

Those of us who are afraid of it, have very good reasons to worry about what else it might reveal.

I think?

Right now, I have no idea whether or not you've even been able to follow any of this.

with the possible exception of finding out that a partner cheated, but even then, I would say that elicited more of an emotional reaction than a visceral one (ie, heartbreak vs. instinctual revulsion).

And you still bounced back? You're not just physically strong, then.

I can't relate, so apologies if I'm sounding like an ass. Someone cheats on me...and I just lose any emotion for them. They're no longer a part of my life. (Although, I was already looking for a reason to cut her off...)

But then, it seems like you get attached on a deeper level than I will ever allow myself to, anymore.

I'm not sure which of us got lucky on that end.

[–]nomdplumeFormer Alpha0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't know the hell you've walked through, and I'm not going to ask and take you back there, but...

Yeah, I had a rough childhood (I was a lot younger and smaller than my classmates, so I was the go-to punching bag), but that was a long time ago. Clearly, it had an impact on who I am as a human being, but I don't know that I am still traumatized by it in any meaningful way. I worked through that stuff (mainly, by becoming a big guy and purposefully engaging in boxing and martial arts) a long time ago.

I am, however, very sensitive on the topic when it comes to my son. I will kill a motherfucker who might lay a hand on him...

Still, sticking to my strengths, and refusing to engage them on a battlefield where I couldn't possibly win (and neither could they, except in a way that ended with them in prison) is what's really meant by "keeping frame", isn't it?

Arguably, yes. That's at least part of it. "Keeping frame" is staying true to yourself and your terms and your agenda, and not selling them out for anything (sounds easy enough, but I find that, in practice, few people have the strength to really do this).

It's what they can do to you, if you even defend yourself. One phone call is all it takes. Or a lie to a wanna be hero - blue pill aside, I know what a white knight is, and why it's not a compliment.

Yeah, I can see that.

I've encountered some pretty crazy shit from women at various times, mostly rewriting of history (sometimes dramatically) to resolve what must have been some cognitive dissonance (and to avoid taking any responsibility). Not gonna lie - it was (still is) a pretty freaky thing to experience (and something unique to women, in my experience, though I've never gotten romantically/sexually involved with a man, so who knows...).

women can learn how to hurt people too, so it's not like they're going to just slap you and then cry while you laugh it off.

Emotionally? Totally. Like, devastating KO blows. Physically? I haven't run into those women. Even in martial arts, even with highly-skilled women fighters, I have never once felt like they could really hurt my physically (not, at least, without using a deadly weapon). Which is a good thing for me, I suppose, and why I'm probably not too concerned with aggressive women.

but I can't see you placing yourself in those situations, to begin with.

You're probably right on that. That's a big benefit of having a "strong frame" and maintaining it at all times , I think - people can recognize that they will have to fuck with you on your terms, not theirs, and that has a discouraging effect. People, men or women, just generally don't fuck with me (except playfully/tentatively, of course, which doesn't bother me and usually gets a playful response back).

Fuck genetics. :p

The physical frame is helpful, no doubt, but the mental frame is really key, I've found. Without a strong mental frame, I will still encounter plenty of trouble. Physical size only counts for so much...

PTSD turns me 5 years old, and terrified. It doesn't take much to trigger it. Trying to fight it, in public, just exposed me to more predators.

I'm sorry to hear that. That must really suck.

Definitely a case of attracting what's in your head, or, as Carl Jung would say, "What you resist, persists."

I sincerely hope you can find a way to free yourself from that constraint. That's a hard way to live, as I know from personal experience.

Despite everything that happened, the predators who were attracted to my hurt...they weren't all horrible people. Some were determined to help, despite their worst instincts. Or, maybe, because of?

That's a good thing to recognize.

I'm a firm believer that you are always training those around you in how they should treat you.

I know RP gets a lot of flack for talking about "training women" (and I will admit that plenty of TRPers seem to have a fucked up view of what that means), but for me, that gets to a "truth" that has been around way longer than RP, namely, that you don't find great people/great relationships, you create them.

I've had friends and fuckbuddies that caused huge problems for other people such that they developed "bad reputations." But those same people treated me with respect and appreciation and never showed me that side of themselves. I can't help but think that my way of being with them was the source of that...

Fuck fundie religion.

I'm with you on that, for sure. Fucked me up something fierce (still fucks me up to this day).

The unholy alliance between the religious and the feminists (I grew up in a family of both) completely warped my whole view of sex/love/relationships. It took a lot of time (and heartaches) to unlearn, and I'm still not completely free of it.

So, ultimately, the biggest difference between us, genetics aside, is that you don't have any reason to be afraid of a grope. It only exposes your strength.

Interesting take.

Those of us who are afraid of it, have very good reasons to worry about what else it might reveal.

What do you mean by "what else it might reveal"? Something in you? In them? What sorts of things are you concerned might be revealed?

Right now, I have no idea whether or not you've even been able to follow any of this.

I think I'm with you.

And you still bounced back?

Well, I did go through a couple years long anger phase at one point because of the shit I went through with women, so it wasn't like I "bounced back" - more like "eventually clawed my way back and came out stronger."

And I'm still trying to fully 'recover' from the sense of disappointment and betrayal that I experienced in my marriage (some of which had to do with my wife, a lot of which had to do with some misguided notions that I believed in and lived by).

(Although, I was already looking for a reason to cut her off...)

And...that's the difference. I've only once 'rebounded' from a cheating incident (otherwise, it went exactly as you describe), and that was a fairly unique situation, and still required an awful lot of work on her part to fix.

But then, it seems like you get attached on a deeper level than I will ever allow myself to, anymore.

I often suffered from getting too attached to the wrong people/situations/relationships. That was partly my innate romanticism and partly my lack of 'abundance mentality' and capacity for being outcome independent (having and maintaining a strong frame), all exacerbated by being perpetually 'thirsty.' While I made great strides in overcoming that (particularly in the casual/dating arena), I still got caught, for example, in my marriage. I've learned a lot about marriage that I wish I knew a long time ago...

My marriage has certainly put other heartbreaks into perspective - I've become fairly inured to a lot of heartbreaks...
