What do you think of Muslim cultures with a more traditional attitude towards male-female relationships?

I think women are now unwilling to have children because they are

  1. pursuing their careers;

  2. more sexually promiscuous and involved in casual relationships;

  3. more worried about their physical appearance than they used to be decades ago - this fitness obsession sometimes makes a woman refrain from having kids because she doesn't want to "ruin her body".

Honestly, there is no way to make women want to reproduce and marry anymore. Feminism accomplished its mission to destroy the traditional values.

Has little to do with women's choices. Men have begun to lose interest.

[–]despisedlove2Reality Pill Tradcon RP8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Can hardly blame them, can you? What is the point of being married to someone who won't listen to good advice, won't do her share of household chores ("evil Patriarchy"), can't cook to save her life, secretly wants to ride the cock carousel because of her obsession with being seen as desirable, doesn't actually love you (no matter what she says), is with you because of your money, social status and power, holds the power to destroy you financially and emotionally on her way out, and as the user above you said, doesn't want to have kids because XYZ.

Western women have truly destroyed traditional marriage in their zombie obedience to the evil of feminism.

I agree, believe me. & it's worse than that too. That's merely an overview.

I'm with you on this one.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

That as well. But I think women themselves don't want to have a family anymore. Humankind is falling apart.

[–]OfSpock4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They never did. Lack of birth control and social pressure meant they had them anyway.

[–]jackandjill22Red Pill misanthropic, contrarian1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

That could be true, honestly though the majority of women usually want children but I think they have a preference for men fitting into their gameplan of how it happens.

Guys are beginning to signal a strike as they find other ways to preoccupy their time other than satisfying women's needs.

It's tragic though things are getting ugly you're correct.

As a woman who wants to get married and have children, I feel very sad about what humankind has become.

My philosophical proclivities, inclinations: My cynicism. My resentment. It started as purely an intellectual preoccupation until I realized the social observations were things that dissatisfied, led me to dissolution . Very simply put, millennial cultures(In disagreement with our cultural trajectory) something that evokes a sense of ire, loathing in me.

Same here... Same here...

It's very sad and ironic to see that humankind has evolved enormously both scientifically and technologically but has reached ZERO improvement when it comes to moral and ethics. We are becoming vandals, barbarians, iconoclasts again.

And it's very scary to see how many men are 'feminists' nowadays. I can personally say that because whenever I say I'm a conservative woman most men look at me in disgust or sometimes they say I'm a bigot or a fascist. It's how men are becoming feminist, emasculated manginas nowadays. And women, on the other hand, are losing all the grace, sensitivity and kindness that was associated - fairly associated - to females. They are becoming angry, irrational, ugly creatures, trying to destroy everything that is sacred and beautiful - and leftist men are just following them.

[–]questioningwomandetached from society0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

If people are blaming me why shouldn't I be angry? I'm protecting myself from the times. I intend not to be a victim and will make it through these times no matter what I have to resort to. I'm gonna make it through via fight or flight. If someone is mean spirited towards me, I will be a mega bitch to them or avoid them to the point of no return. Yeah I should submit to this broken generation and be made into a victim for the next generation to have it better. Not a chance.

Wrong. The fact that women are revolting against the culture & men are responding by checking out shows that they do. Women can choose to be selfish, in the end they're going to lose something or society will suffer. Men will completely abandon them if they don't make a rational choice. It's already happening.

Feminism and traditional marriage were incompatible. One had to die.

[–]despisedlove2Reality Pill Tradcon RP8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

You are talking about societies and civilizations in terminal decline. The high fertility immigrants in these countries will inherit them. The cultures of these countries are slowly mutating and dying.

It is neither the first time, nor the last time, that an advanced civilization decided to commit suicide. The funny thing is that almost all civilizations in decline have certain common factors. Yet, human beings refuse to learn.

[–]MentathielPurple Pill Woman0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Which common factors?

[–]jackandjill22Red Pill misanthropic, contrarian0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

There are a lot believe it or not. One is 'a period of decadence'.

[–]MentathielPurple Pill Woman0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

But periods of decadence in great civilizations have generally been prefaced with corrupt or incompetent leadership prioritizing the wrong things, causing dissatisfaction and refusal to take personal responsibility and thus delinquency and aggression, as well as destruction of disciplined military.

I suppose the question that's on my mind is what is it about great civilizations that breeds bad leaders. Sense of security that allows them to pursue personal interests (such as accepting immigrants to enlarge liberal voting pool, enabling welfare to create state dependency etc)?

Or is it the lack of serious, survival challenges in life that breeds lazy and entitled people who make a big deal out of nothing, who then shape their leaders because they're just trying to appease them?

Also, if you're history-savvy enough and willing, could you give me some historical examples? I can't find anything too specific, even although I keep seeing this come up in both TRP and sexual puritans' arguments.

Ah, that explains it. Glad I could help out. It's nearly analogous. -"The Great Gatsby"- with its relatively recent film starring Leonardo Dicaprio takes place during that period in American history & it's said to be a cautionary tale against these exact circumstances.

They even named the "Bell-curve of inequalities in contemporary America " after it 'The Gatsby Curve'.

i doubt the decline in those countries all have the exact smae reasons. Most countries fall to about replacement birth rate when birth control bills are introduced (source:sex and war, by poyts and hayden).

Japan's is definitely the most interesting, and not yet well understood. there is a theory in collapsing societies that seems to fit, but its unclear. In japan, the men have stopped pursing women en masse. This wasn't due to the women asserting themselves at all, women in japan still rate one of the most submissive in the world. the theory about collapse was this: When a giant colony of mice was once designed to be pushed to over populate and collapse, the men withdrew from breeding, and became obsessed with self grooming. That seems to be happening with Japanese men. What makes it weird as an idea as japan was never over populated. when humans over populate, we invent societal lines and kill each other (tutsi versus hulus, source 'collapse' by diamond)

its definitely wierd.

[–]CarkudoThe original opinionated omega11 points12 points13 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Those Japanese men who "have stopped" pursuing women comprise (or used to anyway) about 40% of my client base. They aren't refusing to pursue women. They lack the resources for it - mostly time and energy, because they're just that overworked.

Japan only seems like a strange case because western media has this "wacky Japan" angle it loves to push in every report about the country. It's really not that wacky.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That's not what I've read/heard.

Women are deciding that babies are too hard. The population is reaching the position of having a third of it's population over 60. They need more young workers. And young women are expected to:

  • have babies
  • do all the household chores
  • prop up the shrinking worker base

How can they do both in such a male-centred society? They can't, and so they've made their choice.

It's mostly that women are unwilling to accept the male-centred society any longer. Japanese men are less likely to do half of household chores and the workplace is set up for men - long working hours (which are brutal to women with children).

[–]despisedlove2Reality Pill Tradcon RP1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This makes more sense.

[–]despisedlove2Reality Pill Tradcon RP2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

Japan is indeed a strange case.

My guess is that their education system, which the Allies wrote for them, war guilt, enforced pacifism, and positively self destructive policies pursued by Bank of Japan, etc. may have something to do with it.

If Japanese women are so submissive, and the men have checked out, why are we not seeing more intercultural marriages? Does that absence not mean that maybe Japanese women have also given up?

The Japanese are notoriously and unapologetically xenophobic?

[–]despisedlove2Reality Pill Tradcon RP-1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago* (9 children) | Copy Link

Not towards all foreigners. They tend to dislike and despise all Asians except Indians. They also tend to like Americans and Australians.

Further, shouldn't xenophobia appear to vanish as a consideration for a Japanese woman (in this case) who can't find a Japanese man to marry?

Given how strong the mating impulse is among human beings, how visibly desperate women get around 35 to snare a husband, I find that difficult to believe.

I think that something else may be going on.

A historical thing, they've only fought Indians once.

I've read a few accounts from Americans and Aussies, they somewhat see them as a novelty, they don't take them seriously.

You'd think so but tribalism is string and appearance is everything, a lot of sauna/hot spring type places in Japan ban any non-Japanese people, you might get in if you are half-caste but look Japanese but if you're half-caste but look western even if you've spent your whole life in Japan you won't be allowed in.

You should really read more about the Japanese attitude towards Indians. Goes beyond the fight they had with British India. There is some unusual history there.

Tribalism can't trump basic human impulses stronger than it.

Nothing Western about women's biological clock. You find this in all modern cultures where women are beginning to delay marriage.

I've read more than a few such accounts and they always leave me baffled. These accounts paint Japan as some sort of xenophobic hell, which is simply the complete opposite of what I've experienced there, and I'm an ugly white slav.

This is complete conjecture on my part, but I tend to think that these Americans and Aussies are encountering a huge language barrier, and the difficulties that arise from that they instead choose to interpret as ethnic and racial hatred.

One of the main accounts I read was from a guy that lived in Japan teaching English to Japanese students.

You'll have to be A LITTLE more specific because about 80% of English-language blogs about life in Japan are by ALTs. Azrael paved the road for it in the early 2000s, but now they're a dime a dozen.

And yeah, I would expect an ALT in Japan to face serious language barrier problems. The overwhelming majority of ALTs are JET, and JET specifically prefers candidates with little or no Japanese language ability for ALT positions. This is corroborated by the fact that yeah, most of the ALT blogs I've read do mention and/or reveal language trouble.

Well, that, and kids being assholes.

Here's something for you to consider: the vast majority of intercultural marriages in Japan involve a non-Japanese woman marrying a Japanese man.

Make of that what you will.

[–]despisedlove2Reality Pill Tradcon RP0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Makes that even more curious.

What about marriages involving Japanese citizens living outside Japan?

[–]CarkudoThe original opinionated omega0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No idea. I live in Russia and as you can imagine, very few Japanese citizens reside here permanently. I know two. One is a single (no idea if she was ever married) woman in her late 40s, another is a man in his early 50s, also unmarried. Mostly when Japanese people get married over here, it also involves men marrying local women, then taking them back to Japan.

[–]Blaat19852 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Because Japanese aren't fond of foreigners.

They are plenty fond of foreigners and intercultural dating is pretty huge in Japan. Marriage not so much, because a man has to have a cool degree, a huge salary and career prospects to be marriage material - and it's an openly held standard, not even considered shallow in some way. She hasn't heard of whatever uni you went to? You're not marriage material. You make the kind of money that's considered a marriagable salary, as a foreigner in Japan? Chances are good you aren't going to be staying Japan permanently because you're probably upper management, so unless she's open to moving around a lot, which most Japanese people aren't, you're not a good marriage prospect. So you're off the table again. You pass all the marks but her parents or grandparents have reservations (or worse) about marrying a foreigner? Yeah, you strike out again. And older generations tend to do that.

Japan is indeed a strange case.

Japan isn't really any different from many other E Asian countries. S. Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, the bigger cities in mainland China even. All these places are having an equally low or much lower birthrate than Japan. So do many European countries.

[–]despisedlove2Reality Pill Tradcon RP2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Mainland China shouldn't be mentioned in this list. Their causes for their demographic disaster are unique to them.

Regarding the rest, Singapore has a healthy level of immigration, so doesn't see the effects of this.

South Korea hasn't come into the news for this reason. They became a developed country more recently than Japan. Generally, the fall in birthrate doesn't happen so soon.

Europe is the classic case of people becoming too mentally messed up for their own good, and deciding to commit suicide. It is a geriatric case civilizationally.

[–]DaphneDKKing of LBFM0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think mainland China, places like Shanghai, Beijing, etc. have some of the same issues as Japan/Korea. The affluent middle/upper class aren't having any children. Many can't even be bothered to have the one child allowed under the previous one-child policy.

[–]DaphneDKKing of LBFM0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Japan's is definitely the most interesting, and not yet well understood. there is a theory in collapsing societies that seems to fit,

I don't see how it fits, since there's still a strong movement from the countryside to the cities. The most overpopulated areas attracting people from underpopulated areas.

Japan is experiencing a babybust partly due to Japanese women having priced themselves out of the market. They're chasing something which only a small percentage of men can deliver on.

Japanese women have traditionally sought the "three highs" - of high academic achievement, physical height and an elevated income - in the perfect partner, but the report suggests that income is now their prime concern.

"More than half of single women want their spouses to earn at least four million yen (33,794 euros, $38,270) a year," the report said. "Meanwhile, only 15.2 percent of single men in their 20s earn four million yen or more.

Why fewer Japanese are seeking marriage

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Much of it is women who didn't want kids in the past but were forced to by their financial dependency don't have to now. Much is also that people see how fulfilling and fucking awesome a child free life is, especially a DINK lifestyle, and opt out of having dependents.

Welfare has been on the decline since the 90s, with two thirds of welfare money going towards job search, training, and programs that are supposedly meant to reinforce nuclear families rather than money directly to the impoverished. More and more programs now require work.

So is "modern PC society" is to blame for lower birth rates due to welfare or higher ones? I'm getting mixed messages here.

It's a product of our complete disconnect from the natural world. We've over-indulged on comfort and now most people are heavily focused on satiating those base urges that make us feel good. We're not afraid of the future, the state will look after us, and we no longer have any sense of pride in our heritage or culture so we don't see any particular reason to continue it. Plus, people are seeing that marriage and children is not such a good time for most people who do it.

It's a conflict of its extremely traditional culture & the liberal hedonism of the West spilling over. With economic issues causing pressure/tensions. Women could just get over it & for the sake of society for the role. But very similar to American women their self-awareness about what they dislike within their culture & desire to "have their cake & eat it too's" going to tear society down in a vulnerable period.

Japan is totally different, it's problem is men are just going herblore and playing video games. They don't pursue women hardly at all. There literally is no cock carousel.

[–]KrispyMcSockingtonPillar of the community4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You'd think the women would revolt and demand more penis. But it looks like they've been doing the MGTOW thing for a while and the women are just letting their wombs go to waste :/

I did read once that even some handsome men there get turned down because the women have high standards. Maybe that's why the guys are on a hiatus from pussy.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There's also the expectation that Japanese men should work themselves to death while the woman gets full control of the finances and actually gives the breadwinning man a small allowance

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]DarkLord0chinChin0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Men there are more feminine, so it's easier for them to go sexless. Women there are very traditional, so they have high requirements and expectations of their men, and no cock carousel exists. Basically take away all the accidental pregnancies from American sluts and you get a bit closer to what's happening in Japan.

Also, the old traditions of overworking and overstudying leave little to no time and energy for sexual pursuits. Combined with a very developed sex industry and very expensive costs of living, no wonder men go herbivore in Japan

[–]KrispyMcSockingtonPillar of the community0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]fullmoonhermit1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it's unwise to assume we know the cause behind declining birth rates. There are many theories, but the research is still very lacking.

I also don't think that this is a problem for most countries facing a resource-poor future. A smaller population is beneficial for many regions (with some exceptions).

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It is about women being unwilling to lose their place in their company they work for. Even in liberal as fuck Sweden, women don't have enough kids to replace the current population because even in a best case scenario, a woman who takes time to have her child and recover is going to be disadvantaged when it comes to promotions and raises compared to her non-pregnant male and female peers.

The governments shouldn't do anything more. I'm very curious about what a whole world below replacement ratio looks like. Do things naturally just self-correct or do we go into a population "death-spiral"?

[–]FrostyGoingHisOwnWay1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The mouse utopia experiments showed that mice populations when left to grow without any natural predators and all needs taken care of, will peak and then enter into a "death-spiral" which is never pulled out of. Once your fertility ratio is below replacement rate it's only a matter of time before the population reaches zero.

Interestingly the male mice become very passive and uninterested in sex, they spent most of the time grooming themselves and taking care of themselves, they were dubbed the beautiful ones. If you look to the culture with the biggest nose dive in fertility which is Japan you'll find this is basically happening, the "herbivore" men or "grass eaters" who opt out of sex, many are effeminate and gentle, spending a lot of their time and money grooming themselves but never pursuing women. The parallels between the mouse experiments and modern Japanese culture are striking to me and I think they act as a barometer for things to come in the west, you only need to look to our equivalent of men opting out of typical sexual roles, MGTOW or Men Going Their Own Way.

[–]jackandjill22Red Pill misanthropic, contrarian0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]FrostyGoingHisOwnWay1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It has little to do with willingness, women want children as much now as they ever did, it's just that they tend to want to settle down in later life. The stats show people marrying and having children at much older ages, typically into the 30's which was unheard of in previous generations, it wasn't that long ago that people were marrying and starting a family in their early 20's.

The problem is that with the pill being invented and feminism telling women that it's OK to be promiscuous, it has created a society where access to sex for men now no longer requires commitment, it's the age old saying, "why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free".

Women spend their best years (their youth) sleeping about more and more and what happens is that by the time they want to settle down in later life they've hit the wall, they do not have the sexual market value they once had, where as men their age are still eligible to date the 22 year olds. In fact its easier for a man in his 30's with a decent income to impress an impressionable 20 something who is young and fun and looking for a good time. Men get their sexual market value in different ways to women, women win the lottery and get all their youth and beauty up front early and lose it over time, by contrast men are judged by resources, confidence, money and power which you get none of to start with and you get more with time.

What is happening is young women acting this way is shooting the older versions of themselves in the foot. The younger generation keep the focus of men by being promiscuous and being liberal with sex but that is at the expense of the older generation. The problem with this is every woman will be that older generation at some point in her life and when the desire for babies comes along and baby rabies kicks in around 30-35 getting a man in that age bracket to settle down is harder, because you're competing against much younger and more attractive women.

There are other factors at play here, marriage and children have become an astronomical risk for men, you're talking about at least 50% of your assets if not more, as well as losing access to your house, your children and most of your future earnings. Most men do not want to risk that kind of loss, and so if the government is to do anything it's to get out of the family, if you want to see men opt back into marriage then remove no fault divorce, end alimony, end child support. That means women need to pick men who they are sure they'll stay with and both parties depend on each other rather than the state and that means working at the relationship instead of ending it (which statistically is what women currently favour).

[–]jackandjill22Red Pill misanthropic, contrarian0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes, we know all this. That's correct but those are the circumstances. Now the answer as to Why? How do we change this? Where does it go? Those are far more difficult questions.

[–]FrostyGoingHisOwnWay1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There is an excellent video by a newish MGTOW called Coltaine and can be found here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wpca1ZDIRQ

His thesis is essentially that biological changes cause cultural changes which cause political changes and that major events that affect "hardware" cause the "software" running on it to encounter drastic changes.

In this case it's the pill, sexual liberation is something that came from changing females biological reality and that lead to the sexual liberation movement and female promiscuity which ultimately leads to social decline via the mechanisms previously discussed.

The pill can't be put back in the bottle so to speak.

It's mostly a product of men being too sex-motivated and insufficiently child-motivated in an environment where there is birth control. It'll sort itself out, mostly by people who think like TRPers sorting themselves out of the gene pool ("have a vasectomy" "never get married" "never have children"). Some of the places with the highest fertility in the world today were failing to replace themselves 100 years ago. Advances in reproductive technology will also help here.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The reason men are opting out of marriage and fatherhood is because of a direct fifty year attack on both of those things combined with an utterly insane and evil family court system that will use your children as hostages against you to attempt to extract your wealth. Men do not have any path at all to having their own children under this system. We can only give women children and remain in their lives so long as the woman allows. This system is defective and rotten to the core. We need to change it but their is no path to doing so under our bureaucratic nightmare government.

Yep. There are a lot of child free folks and MWGTOW who deride having children, but children become adults. You have to have them in order to be grandparents and have your genetic line continue on. Taking yourself out of the gene pool is counterintuitive towards survival and continuing a genetic legacy. It is one of our most basic biological drives to continue the human race.

Online communities like this one may shit on being parents, but fortunately off line people are not about to cut off their nose to spite their face.

US, Japan, Italy, and Sweden all have different fertility trajectories and are not that comparable. Completed cohort fertility in the US and Sweden (more feminist societies) is not catastrophic. TFR underestimates the actual fertility when childbirth is delayed. It overestimates it when childbirth is brought forward, like during the baby boom.

In Italy (southern Europe) and Japan (east Asia), by contrast, fertility is pretty catastrophic. These are much more traditional societies.

Here's one projection of what completed cohort fertility actually will be for women born in specific years. http://www.demogr.mpg.de/mediacms/2567_main_MPIDR_lifetime_fertility_on_the_rise_DATASHEET.pdf

War.

Bomb the production factories of other countries. Reduce the population of your own country by 30%.

Produce without competition and enjoy low housing prices thanks to the smaller population.

Then allow polygamy and start more wars. If a man has 4 sons, and 3 of them die in war, then the surviving one needs to fill the void of 3 wives. With 4 wives he can produce more soldiers kids.

Since war is raging everyone has to grow up faster. Women will start getting kids earlier, then they will have more time to get kids.

Soon we would rule the world and the problem starts again but by then we will have space ships and need astronauts to conquer mars. How will we get space ships when we waste everything we have in wars? Simple we conquer the areas with resources first.

You may say that's unethical, but this is just a brainstorm, all ideas are allowed. We just have to get around the problem of A bombs but then it will snowball into galactic reign.

Get more Japanese women into leadership roles

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Ah... okies

Japan has a low prevalence of women in leadership roles. This leads to:

  • men making the majority of the decisions for the country. The issues women face are not being thought of enough and there are not policies being put in place to make it easier for women to have more babies. Women need to be in positions of leadership for these things to happen.

  • less return on financial equity, which means the country has less money. (Boards which have women on them report much better financial results. Which is due to diversity, not simply because they're women.) Men often don't even earn enough in Japan to even be able to support a family on their own/ to be thought of as a viable prospect for marriage.

  • Japan is still patriarchal, which isn't very encouraging for women. In such a system, it's easier for them to work and not have babies - it's the only way they have of beating the system. For them to marry means caring for children, doing almost all the housework, and either living on a low wage (their husband's) or trying to manage a brutal regime of long office hours/housework/caring for children.

Still, the prevalence of female directors puts Japan near the bottom of a global ranking of 39 developed economies by Deloitte last year. The world’s third-largest economy also ranks in the bottom third for gender participation on boards worldwide — 101st among 145 countries, according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report in 2015.

The lack of gender diversity may be costing shareholders. Fortune 500 companies that have at least three female directors achieved an average return on equity that was 4.8 percentage points higher than companies without any female board members, according a 2011 report by Catalyst.

http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2016/03/14/business/economy-business/japan-inc-s-lack-of-leadership-roles-for-women-fuels-gender-imbalance-on-boards/#.V7pGrfl97b0

http://www.japantoday.com/category/kuchikomi/view/where-are-japans-women-leaders

While there is no one-size-fits-all recipe for boosting fertility, current trends in European countries suggest that gender equity might be a key to higher birth rates. As opposed to gender equality, which is based on identical treatment of men and women, gender equity requires fair and just treatment of genders depending on their needs. According to Thomas Anderson and Hans-Peter Kohler, researchers from the Population Studies Center, the latter is especially important within families.

Change is already in the air. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications’ “Survey on time use and leisure activities,” men spent an average of 27 minutes a day on home-related work in 1996, as compared with 49 minutes in 2001 and 69 minutes in 2011. This is still a lot less than the more than three hours women spend on such chores, but it indicates a shift in values from traditional to egalitarian. And egalitarian families have been shown to have more children than traditional ones — even though they have them later.

"Women need to be put into positions of leadership"... This is not how you become a leader. But I suppose this is how it looks from within your inferior woman brain

That is exactly how you become a leader. Unless you're running some kind of grassroots operation, new religion or rebellion etc

People are placed in their positions by deciding committees. Men have been placed in such positions for centuries - often without merit.

Women are in a steep catch-up phase, in a system that has been severely weighted against them. There has been affirmative action in the workplace for men, which means less-worthy male candidates have been gaining leadership positions while worthier female candidates have been passed over.

Quotas ensure that deciding committees are not unfairly putting other men in high positions. And if girls get to see women in leadership positions, they are far more likely to pursue leadership pathways. Boys have an abundance of role models, due to the centuries of affirmative action for men. Now we need that same affirmative action for women (except a fair, equitable affirmative action - not an action where leadership positions are going to be all women).

In a few generations, we will no longer need any kind of quotas or affirmative action.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

and that's why you're such a right-wing bigot

Nah that's a good thing, one the biggest problems with society is the breakdown of the nuclear family, if you're mama is forced to work as a single parent, the state is your other parent.

Even if your parents are married, if they're both working and sending you to school, the state/public education system is your real parent.....and you know what that means

Then maybe Dad should stay home with them.

If so, how should governments approach women's unwillingness to marry and reproduce?

Import labor with H1B visas and "amnesty"

Anecdote time: Women i see settle all the time and so do men. I don't see cock carousel riding as much as I hear about it from us, there aren't as many hookups as they are frowned upon, people are still very likely to end paired up. The women who are 30+and single are seen as outliers where I am.

We don't have money to have kids and government doesn't help.

How? Give extra money to people who reproduce. Also give them extra benefits and more free things that single people don't get. Heavily advertise these benefits to the public so they get the message that if they reproduce, they will get this, this, and this. Almost any problem can be solved using money.

Germany has been trying this for many years now but unless you offer pay about as high as a full time job + 24/7 daycare so the parents don't have to actually give up any freedoms, it is of no interest to the educated middle class. The only ones you get to breed are the poor.

This is true.

Incentives are a simple way of doing it. Instead of offering more birth control, we simply offer money or other compensation for improving the birth rates. This is especially easy to do with those on welfare, as Atlas said, since they already have higher birth rates in general.

You cannot socially engineer away serious objective political issues/circumstances. It's very difficult without remedying the underlying issues. China knows this better than most.

It would be part of a larger program. But part of the reason that people are not having children is financial. Either they feel unprepared at their earlier years and wait too long to have children, or they look at the financial aspects of feeding, housing, clothing, and educating a child and decide against it on the grounds that children are "too expensive." By offering incentives and compensation for bearing children, younger parents might be more willing.

It also doesn't help that dual income homes make mothers feel incompetent and unable to care for their children, which can often sway them from having any. This is especially true if people look into the cost of daycare or other childcare services. If women were more often able to stay home, they might be more willing to have children since they could care for them on their own instead of having to entrust strangers or family to take care of their kids while they struggle to earn enough money to get by.

Or rent and price controls can do the trick. You can prohibit people from charging more than a certain amount of rent for different types of property. Then it makes living more affordable in unaffordable areas. You can engineer basically anything scenario you want.
