Yes, monogamy was a patriarchal institution that attempted to establish "sexual communism."

However, just like every other form of communism, the results it achieved were not at all congruent with the ideal.

As with every other form of "government", it's hard to "legislate" away human behavior, especially those behaviors that have powerful instincts behind them.

You think men weren't koreogamous/polygamous and that women weren't hypergamous under "sexual communism"? Hardly.

Cheating, cucking, mistresses, prostitution, and whatever other outcomes resulting from the innate human sex/mating drive have always existed, and will always exist, regardless what social constructs humans want to try to put into place to mitigate for them.

If you read history that records what the "common man" has experienced through the ages, it's clear that "monogamy" has always been a fraught institution. There was never a time that humans completely disregarded their natures and adopted a social construct instead.

my personal opinion is that society is slowly becoming conscious of how a free sex market is not for everybody but will this lead to a restauration of a more rigid pre 60s life style or virtual reality and sexbots will be the real game changers in a more or less distant future?

My personal opinion is that dudes who whinge about this stuff need to back the sexbots/virtual reality horse, as women aren't about to go back to having little/no say in the matter of who they get to fuck and spend their life with. The "good ol' days" (for men, at least) are not going to happen again any time soon.

I admire the lengths to which you've gone to apply various and sundry economic theories to beople banging, but you're way off base. Monogamy wasn't "invented" it evolved. Human babies take a longass time to mature and it takes a family, a society, to protect and provide for them in the meantime. You want your babies to have good genes and not to go hungry so that they have the best chance. As a species, we've sacrificed a lot for our big brains, and seasonal mating was one such thing.

The vast majority of people still end up monogamous even with the freedoms we have today. Sure, sexual variety is nice when you're young and figuring out what you like but we are wired to crave a deeper, more lasting connection. The sexual revolution and contraception just allow you the freedom to hook up and "test the waters" until you meet someone you're truly compatible with. But there are precious few people (their numbers are inflated in places like this) who want to stay single forever.

I think sexbots will be a novelty, not a game changer for your average able-bodied person. People crave genuine human affection and the validation of being desired too much to rely on a sexbot... and even the most sophisticated ones will have an uncanny valley effect. They're really just a step up from real dolls and not only did those not catch on in a big way, they're intensely stigmatized.

No. First, because there are enough people - of either gender - currently satisfied, or at least somewhat satisfied with the 'free sex market' and all that it entails to propagate it and see that it continues. Second, what incentive do they have to give up the current sexual freedoms they enjoy so some other men can get the singular lifetime vagina they believe they're owed?

Nah. It's way, way older than that. Because people's brains kept getting bigger, their heads kept getting bigger, evolution dictated that they be born earlier and earlier in their development to be able to get the head through the mother's pelvis come birthing time. This meant that human babies are born unusually early in their development compared to most other mammals, and are basically helpless for several years after they are born. Having to carry around an infant all this time meant that the mother was basically helpless, having to take care of her child, and since women are much more important to the survival of the group than men (fifteen women and three men can repopulate a tribe, fifteen men and three women, not so much), evolution selected for males who would stick around and assist the woman, i.e. pair-bonding.
