Video Summary: Male disposability has always been a thing. Women and children's safety has always come first, at first because it needed to be that way for the success of a family or community, and now because nobody wants to change it. First to die to protect the community, last to be saved from a dangerous situation. Feminists complain about the lack of agency this gives them in their lives, while not acknowledging how it makes men out to be objects that can just be used and thrown away.

"We measure a man's worthiness to wear the title of man, and therefore the title of human, through how useful he is either to society or to women. And one of the most useful things a man can do, even now in the eyes of society is to put women and children before himself." This sentence is a good thesis of the entire video.

It's entirely fair to criticize feminism. No ideology is above criticism. Are there some female surepremacists within the movement? Sure. Are there some man-haters within the movement? Yeah. But the whole part about feminism being a female surpremacist movement as evidenced by the fact (according to you) that women have never been oppressed and have always been more privledged than men: no. Bringing up that men have indeed faced adversity due to their gender does not change the fact that women have historically had less rights than men, that women have historically been under the authority of a man.

Feminism has never been about equality.

Feminism was originally about equality but has devolved into a mere interest group. Social movements tend to do that when the "big bad" they are fighting is defeated.

For example, consider the labor movement. There was a time when kids worked 16 hour days for peanuts and employers couldn't give two shits about the lives of their workers. They'd pack people into a sweatshop and close the windows, and after a fire horrifically burns them all alive the employer would bitch about the cost of a new building. There was a genuine need for better treatment of workers at one point. But that "big bad" has largely been defeated. There are still issues workers would like to see improvement on, but there's not the same need for change that there once was. Labor is now an interest group, not a social movement.

It's the same story for feminism. At one point women couldn't vote, couldn't divorce an abusive husband, were openly discriminated against in the workplace, and were actively blamed when sex crimes were committed against them. But this "big bad" has been largely defeated, too. These big issues are either completely or largely solved, and there's high public awareness of them. There's not the same need for change that there once was. It's an interest group, not a social movement.

Early feminism was about equality. And it was necessary. And I fucking love it. My grandad's generation went through life probably only ever sleeping with 2-3 women. That's a good week now. (I said good). As a man I am way more sexually satisfied in post feminism America than my grandad's generation.

Beyond that, you can never have complete parity between the sexes. We obviously all have equal rights, as we should, but circumstantially for society to function there are cases where one or the other sex will "suffer" more. That's where (and why) militant feminism generates an equal reaction, call it redpill/men's rights, whatever you prefer.

The whole "men are disposable cause they said women and children first at the Titanic" argument is kinda lame, especially coming from guys thinking they are "Alpha" ... if some fucking lion threatens another lion's pride (where pride = the lionesses and the cubs) guess who sorts out the mess? you guessed it, the Alpha male lion.

The whole "argument from ignorance" thing notwithstanding, this is garbage in - garbage out thinking. "Feminism" isn't a single monolithic movement with any sort of monolithic motivation or agenda, and pretending that it is will inevitably lead to silly thinking. Really, it seems like feminism has become a word without meaning.

People acting and speaking under feminist banners are clearly acting in their own self-interest. What's unclear is whether their motivations are more ulterior and cynical or open and altruistic. As is typical, it's a mix of things that varies by individual and context. Are we really going to pretend that Anita Sarkeesian, Gloria Steinem, Sojourner Truth and Friedrich Engels were feminist in the same sense or for the same reasons?

Feminists are mainly good people trying to help others. Feminism is a hundred million dollar business. The entity of feminism's goal is to make money, not help people. Feminists become indoctrinated because they are tricked into believing people cannot do good things for women without the help of feminism.

It is a trick and a scam. No organization that makes millions of dollars gives a fuck about helping anyone but themselves. That's just business.

What do you mean by "it's about"? If you mean that this is the result of feminism then sure, but to say that it's "about" that makes it sound like the goal. I don't doubt that most feminists sincerely believe that women are an oppressed underclass and that focusing almost exclusively on helping women (as feminism does) is simply getting them out of this hole. I don't happen to believe that women are oppressed, but I have to understand their actions from the context of their world-view, not my world-view.

Yeah, this is just silly. Feminism was obviously at first about equality, because there was so much equalizing to be done. We couldn't vote, we were property, we were killed and beaten and cheated on and just had to deal with it.

Now? I can't say I've ever been made to feel less valuable than a man.

Basically true, or at least it provided an opening for them to do so even though feminists didn't intend it. It's about power minus responsibility. Equality only matters when it suits them. Otherwise they don't give a shit.

I know some feminists that are much more egalitarian in thought, but they refuse to change the label for whatever reason, my sister included. Maybe it makes them feel important, who knows.

The bit about women and children first really depends on your point of view, really. It was about how society saw women and children as weaker, thus putting them first since men were believed more likely to be able to survive. Of course, in most deadly situations, that margin probably isn't much. I'd hazard a guess it also has links into the trope of machismo. Of course, if you wanted to prove you were a man, you should put the weaker ones before yourself, since you can take it.

Backwards thinking from a backwards time, but it lingers on today. And will until sexism in general is pushed back even further.

I wonder if it's even possible for some of you people to talk about Feminism without resorting to massive Hyperbole. "The last bit of humanity left to men", give me a fucking break. If your masculinity is that shallow and easily threatened in a world that celebrates the masculine far more than it does the feminine, then you obviously missed the boat somewhere.
