OK,

There a few ways to take this.

Let's start with "Do women feel stronger emotions than men ?". I think they do. I understand there is some decent neurological evidence that they have stronger levels of emotion, in general, than men.

This is further backed up by the fact that the most masculinised brains frequently are described as emotionless robots. Those just prior to the Asperger spectrum, through it and into autism.

So women seem to feel emotions more strongly than men, "do they express them more "? Also here I have to say yes. I think we all recognise the stereotype of the male unable to express their emotions, and the highly emotional woman, are both there for a reason. Clearly, we all vary.... But women on average seem to be widely recognised as expressing emotions more freely.

The next question is then "Do they more frequently incorporate their emotions into their decision making than men ?". Again, I think they do, things like MBTI and other psychological tests show women are more likely to reason and decide with emotional reasoning. Whether this is a simple function of them feeling them more keenly, or is an independent factor is unclear to me.

Finally, we can ask.... Do women feel emotion more keenly, express it more freely, and incorporate it more often into their thoughts and decision making ?

For me the answer appears to be yes.

And you would have to agree with the question in the OP if you agreed with that question. It appears women are more emotional whichever way you cut it.

But given what I personally believe about emotions (that they are expressions of algorithms programmed genetically to fire) it's also hard to argue this is necessarily a fault. Those genes have been successful, our instincts are good, are emotions are a time-tested and evolutionarily approved way of dealing with other humans successfully.

It is unclear to me whether a wholly rational person (either male or female) would be better at navigating life than a wholly emotion driven person. Clearly, the best solution is a mix of these methods (at least when dealing with other humans).

It's not clear whether the average female mix of those behaviours (the female emotionality/rationality bell curve) is better or worse situated than the male curve for the purpose of giving women reasonable lives.

It depends on what your criteria for success is.

Depends on the emotions we're discussing. Lots of dudes be really angry, lots of women are easily overcome by sentimentality. Generally, I see both genders experience and act out a wide array of emotions, but measuring the qualitative impact of each is hard, especially because some people are very able to bury/stuff that shit down but are still profoundly affected. For example: I knew a dude who suffered extreme depression, anger, self loathing, but he was raised to hide it, so he just drank all the time and didn't accomplish anything. Sure, he didn't "act out of emotion" but he chose a self destructive path to keep the tidal wave of emotion at bay. It still impacted his life in pretty profound ways even though he wasn't crying it out

Depends on the individual. I've known highly emotional men and stone cold women. Society definitely gives women more permission to be emotional and discourages men from acknowledging their emotions. Imo, this causes some women to be superfluously emotional and some men to suppress their emotions and in turn act highly irrationally.

Here's a problem. You have to define emotional. If I want to jump on gender stereotypes for example, women would be more emotional in the sense of being sad or upset, and men would be angrier. They're both emotions.

People who are emotional may express it in different ways, so that's a huge problem to try and quantify.

Women are better at recognizing their own emotions and the emotions of others. This is what it means when people say that women are more emotional than men. What it does not mean is that women depend on their emotions more when making decisions, that women make rash, spur of the moment decision based on nothing more than their fee fees at the moment. This is nothing but rubbish from the "I'm scared of women camp," aka Red Pillers, to devalue the thoughts and opinions of women. If anything, men, who tend to fail at understanding their own emotions, tend to let their emotions drive them because they're incapable and/or refuse to deal with their emotions in a constructive way, hence why most crimes of passions, most mass shooters, most violent criminals in general, are male. If anyone is going to go off on you for looking at them funny, cutting them off in traffic, or just doing anything that could be conceived as disrespecting them, it is going to be a man. If anyone is going to hack their toddler up and send a picture of it to their allegedely cheating spouse, it is likely to be a man.

Women have smaller amygdalas with 80% less sensory neurons. As such, they need a much stronger emotional stimulus.

Also men encode emotional memories with their right side of their amygdala, women encode emotional memories with the left side of their amygdala.

I think women express their emotions more, but also control it better. I think they're also more pragmatic and less romantic/emotional when it comes to romantic relationships compared to men. It doesn't mean they love their SOs less, just that they find it easier to compartmentalize their feelings.

True, because women have a smaller Amygdala (processing center for emotions) than men. Women also have a larger Corpus Collosum (connecting part between brain hemispheres) and more white brain matter, both leading to more brain "connections," and a more difficult time compartmentalizing.

If we took a man and a woman who were equally emotional and observed them, the woman would likely express her emotions more as well. Even discounting expression, however, I believe that women tend towards emotion more than men.

Gender roles are simply constructed in such a way that women are granted more freedom to "listen to their emotions" while men are expected to make "rational" decisions. When then looking at those actual decisions, we notice that the rational ones are often just as clearly influenced by emotions, they are just labeled as rational.

I believe women and men are both strongly driven by emotions and it varies more by individual than by gender. That said, women and men display these emotions differently due to social conditioning. Boys get told not to be wimps, so you'll find that boys generally stop crying in front of anyone by the time they're 10 or so, but girls continue to cry in the middle of the cafeteria all the way through high school. Meanwhile, the boys are still feeling those emotions, just not showing it. This sub alone should be proof of that. How often do you see a woman punch a hole in the wall (or even try to)? Almost never. Men are encouraged to repress their emotions, and as a result they seem less emotional, but they're prone to violent outbursts moreso than women.

I see tons of drunk girls crying out on the streets like idiots. But if I see a bar fight happening, it's almost always between men. Both are emotional, but expressing it differently.
