social retardation. a complete lack of social skills is worse than being ugly. women will tolerate a very good looking guy who is dumb as piss or completely broke and borderline homeless. but it doesn't matter how good looking he is if he is super awkward and weird and creeps her out.

this is the biggest problem for most guys who aren't successful with women. including all the incels who are convinced it's because of their looks. they may not ever be as successful as a male model, but their looks aren't what's keeping them from getting laid or getting a girlfriend.

I'll tell you the story of my old roommate. 6'3, looks like tom brady and had a fairly good job for his age. I'd watch girls at bars go from dinner plate sized eyes to checking their phone talking to him because he wasn't fun to talk to.

He was constantly trying to have serious conversations and it just killed any sexual attraction. Dude wasn't funny or playful to talk to and that's, in my experience, what flirting is about, being light on your feet and presenting your interaction as being weightless. He was always seeking a connection instead of just talking to a girl like a human and letting one happen.

Only hot dude I've ever watched strike out with such regularity. Was a real valuable lesson.

Somebody who lives in their parents' basement, but looks good and is fun to be around, is going to have success dating, no doubt. They might not have much luck in LTRs but they're going to have a very easy time getting ONS, etc. just going to the girl's place. They can just adjust their sights to target women who are in a similar economic bucket as them.

Good looking and well off financially, but socially underdeveloped is not going to have anywhere near as much success; they aren't going to be able to secure womens' interest long enough to secure a stable LTR and they aren't going to be able to ONS. There is a fringe case in which everyone in an area has developed well enough socially that access is actually a relevant issue but that's only going to be relevant to very specific classes of people.

This applies to girls too, I'd rather hang out/FWB with a cool girl who wants to smash bongs and play mario kart in their parents' basement than a professional stick-in-the-mud who owns their own place.

I'm not gonna consider 'self-grooming' as something that might produce poor results because I kinda bundle that in with 'good looks'.

I think women are willing to overlook more than people in this thread give them credit for, but being unable to take the risk early on and escalate is a death sentence. Unless you are something amazing women will just wait for someone else to do the early lifting. Being honest and open in general is also a hinderance.

What makes you think otherwise? If you lack one of the top 3, then you have to compensate for it with the other two. And depending on different women, there's that order of importance you got to deal with.

I would say poor social skills is probably the number one thing after looks. If you're a socially awkward, spergy type of dude you're going to struggle mightily in the dating game whereas someone who is outgoing and fun to be around will have a much easier time. After that I would probably say poor hygiene. Not keeping your hair combed, walking around with stank breath and armpits, not wearing clothes that fit you properly, etc.
