First of all I'm not really one of you. I have been reading TRP for probably more than a year now. I just recently got myself a better job and started what will hopefully be a long and prosperous career in the skilled trades. If everything goes right, I will be making a good amount of money once I am a journeyman in 5 years. I'm also working out more often, and am at a gym that I really like. In the past month I have gained about 7 pounds which is a lot more than I have gained during past attempts (quick tips - Log everything! Stronglifts 5x5 has an amazing app, and log all the food you eat, count your calories and protein, there are a lot of great apps for this). I'm in a new town, and am trying to meet people.

I met this girl on Tinder, she was easily a 8, and seemed very nice while messaging. Again, I am not really one of you, I am terrible with women (only been with 1), never had a real girl friend. I have a difficult time using the methods described here, but I am trying. This girl and I have a really nice conversation over coffee. I ask about hobbies and she gives me a list of things, and includes debating topics in said list. Later on, after about 45 minutes of talking she mentions she is a vegan. I have a lot of respect for vegans and vegetarians, I think it is a noble thing to do, is great for the environment, and good that you want to reduce your impact on other life. I also believe that hunting is noble, good for animal life, the environment, and good for the economy. I ask her her opinion on hunting and she tells me "I would never even associate myself with someone who would post a picture of their kill on facebook." I give her a few points as to why the issue of hunting isn't so black and white and give a couple of examples of when hunting is good for the animals. I get silence back, I have offended her. She acts all awkward and I crack a few jokes to lighten the tension, she is starting to act a little bit better and I drive her home.

Yesterday I asked her if she wanted to go for dinner on the weekend, and told her that it is good to disagree with people sometimes and that that is something that will happen often. I want to emphasize that I was respectful when discussing hunting, and did not shame her in any way. I actually told her of my respect for vegans and vegetarians, and that I was surprised at how she reacted because she did say that she liked debate!

This is what she texted back. "You shit all over something that is extremely important to me. To say we have a difference in opinion would be putting it lightly. You said some of the most arrogant fucked up things I've heard in my entire life. I didn't attack anything you said but you wouldn't stop attacking me for something I wasn't even pushing. No thank you. Please do not contact me again."

I was shocked at this response, in person she did not seem this offended at all. I didn't bash veganism at all. All I did was talk about how hunting isn't so black and white of an issue. I don't even hunt, it is just a topic I am interested in (Joe Rogan Podcast Check it out!).

In conclusion, Wow this girl does not like being challenged in any way. I didn't mention this before, but she is a psychology student going into her third year. I really wonder what she meant when she said she liked to debate. What on earth are they teaching her in these classes, and how does she interact with friends when she disagrees with them. I imagine to her debate is sitting in a big circle jerking each other off about ideas with no one playing devil's advocate or dissenting from the group.
