I actually think it's the opposite. Attractive girls are more likely to want both attractiveness, true, but also to want the other positive qualities like personality confidence intelligence and drive.

Some of the most shallow girls I've met were some of the ugliest. And plenty of prettier girls I've met that are surprisingly not too shallow at all.

However, generally the issue is that the girls that are cute AND not shallow get snatched up fast, usually by high school. So there's not many left once you're an adult.

There's two ways to look at this:

Given that a lot of hotness comes down to the degree of self-care and grooming and fitness etc. that you're willing to do, you could say that "hot women self select for shallowness." In other words, they're hot because they're shallow, not the other way around. Naturally, they do all this looking good business so they can attract partners who also look good (Hence the stereotype that hot party-looking girls are more DTF). Personally... I (a man) fall into this category. It's important to me to have someone very physically attractive, so I do what I can in terms of my own looks/fitness/socioeconomic status to build that potential.
The other way to look at it is that physically attractive women are given more social currency with which to play. They have options. As a result, they don't become more shallow, but rather more demanding across the board. They still want the romance, commitment, investment, and closeness of a loving partner... they just want that partner to also be hot and successful and high status. So yeah your hobbies are interesting or whatever, but she knows a dozen guys who have those same hobbies or better. You ability to stand out among her pool of options shrinks as her popularity grows, and due to men's high value placed on looks, this is directly proportional to how hot she is.

OP, I suspect you are defining “shallow” as dating men of equal attractiveness. Most men here see an attractive woman with an attractive man and want to pretend she’s with him only because he looks good. Believing she’s “shallow” numbs the jealousy a little (“those grapes were sour anyway.”)

Most people are shallow. It's no coincidence that hot people typically wind up with other hot people. Do we take this as proof that these people are more likely to find a genuine connection with other hot people? I have my doubts.

I think most people strive to find a partner they consider attractive (or at least not unattractive) and then engage in posterior rationalization to convince themselves that their partnership is deep and special.

I don't think that's necessarily true. I think girls are probably equally shallow regardless of how attractive they are. It's just the attractive girls are more likely to do it successfully. Like on tinder average girls will go for the same conventionally attractive (tall, fit, good face) guys that the hot girls go for, only difference is the average girls will only get to be a fuckbuddy or side chick with those men while the hot girls get to be the girlfriend.

I respectfully disagree. Guys who are not particularly successful with women think that all beautiful women are conceited or picky or demanding when it’s not always true. Hot women are still women. They have anxiety and insecurities and hang ups. Not all of them were hot their entire life so they are not confident. They pick guys they are not intimidated by. I have dated contract models, fitness models, Instagram chicks with 1M+ followers, etc. I’m 6’5, slightly above average looking but in the dad bod side. They all have emotional needs and if you can fill those needs they will date you... assuming you are not a troll. Girls are girls, In my experience the most conceited girls are the 6/6.5’s that peaked early and were beautiful in Junior High and High School.

I'm confused why they wouldnt want a partner who's interesting? Especially considering that when you're a hot girl, you have the pick of the litter in dating. How else would she sift through suitors? Just pick the hottest- the end? Youll quickly realize after being around plenty of "hot" people, that someone being goodlooking is no where near enough to be compatible. Good looks and money, can't trump genuine connection.

To be honest in my personal experience I've found good-looking women (8 and up) to actually be easier to pickup and conversate with than more unattractive ones. More attractive women also tend to be more upfront and respectful with rejections, likely because they are used to men approaching them. I believe less attractive women are worse to deal with because they realize that most men are usually only looking for a hookup, are cautious that men will reject them later on or are either looking for some sort of payback for being ignored by men somewhere in their past and need a "You missed your chance" ego boost. Average women are probably the easiest

This is only true if you live in a society where physically attractive women are given more liberties, freedoms, and social leniency for being attractive- i.e. a society full of male feminists. This was rarely true to an appreciable extent in traditional patriarchal societies, especially ones where the men of the family had a say in who the woman would marry.

Personality counts for a lot. I have known plenty of people with amazing personalities pull dating partners that would surprise you.

However, there is something to be said about the difference between dating apps and real life. Due to covid, I'm on apps and can pull way hotter women in person than I can on apps. This is likely because they're getting inundated with choices. Unless emotions are involved, most people will choose their most attractive (not just looks) potential mate. Most animals do this.

If you're being shallow and only wanting women who you find hot, you're probably going to struggle if your standards are high.

Real talk though. If you want a girl "out of your league," try meeting her through church, friends, etc. Get to know her or the people whom she trusts first to develop trust. There are lots of people who are not shallow when it comes to looks (even good looking people). They may just not be as easy to find.

Most people are homogenous in their dating choices (less so nowadays and much less so when it comes to race/ethnicity), but it's still a thing.

My best suggestion to those who strike out a lot is to up your numbers and learn to take rejection in stride.
