I'm currently reading The Defining Decade by psychologist Meg Jay and thought I'd share these excerpts. Dr. Jay is describing one of her clients, Jennifer, who married a LVM (Carter) and is now getting divorced. She had lived with him for three years prior to marriage, had a successful career, and had no idea where she went wrong.

Unfortunately, Jennifer fell for The Cohabitation Myth, which Dr. Jay explains here:

Cohabiting with your SO leads to the sunk-cost fallacy and messes with your intentionality when it comes to your love life. You compromise your standards.

This has been a reminder to not move in with anyone before marriage or give wifey benefits before marriage.
