On highly frequented subreddits and on other social media like Youtube they still carry on as if porn is not only normal but healthy, like sparkling water. Some kid will speak up about how porn is "totes cool" and call everyone who disagrees a "feminist bitch", and the creepy grown-up men applaud him like he's just passed of rite of passage. Congratulations, kid, you've become a sadistic pervert before you hit drinking age, and you will become impotent before you hit 30. Have fun!

Fortunately society has been making leaps and strides when it comes to having kids without a man -- artificial insemination and adoption, among other things. So if you really just want a relationship for the sake of having kids, you can skip that phase entirely and not run the risk of ending up with some porn-sick pig.

Porn is ONLY an issue when it affects their feefees! And they take YEARS to come to that realisation! I agree! On both the escalation and uncertainty. There's no way of knowing 100% in my opinion. There are signs and red flags and hunches but there are also pros, seasoned men, true actors, master manipulators and fully able to fool people for years. A lovely guy and decent fella is what everybody else sees; that's their public, and quite often private, too, mask.

That's why women need to be constantly on the look out, vetting, assessing, reevaluating and adapting in today's world. Which is hard and taxing and a never ending, time consuming job. That's the nature of the beast unfortunately. A necessary evil.

It becomes second nature once you fully commit to that path and you're soon able to see through LVMs in seconds or minutes or a few weeks at most. That's when it becomes easy and entertaining 😎🤣

Imagine if they would post about a similar addiction, like crack or alcohol. Nobody would side with them and everybody would tell them to isolate themselves from their partner and go to a rehab ASAP! Even more than that, nobody except depressives who hate themselves would openly admit to being a cokehead or an alcoholic!

But for some reason, when it's porn, it's a-okay, and if the partner or friend doesn't it like it, they're "unreasonable" and "can't communicate well". If I found out that a guy I was dating or even living with had a coke addiction, I'd leave right away. Screw that. A person like that is dangerous. And the same goes for porn or alcoholism or anything that could put me or my other loved ones in harm's way. Addicts do not deserve love, because they've already placed their addiction at the highest priority in their life and nothing can come close to it, not even their own parents or children. They merely deserve the opportunity to fix things on their own under the watchful eye of professionals. That's it. They should be isolated and left to sort things on their own and, if they are strong enough, maybe in the future try to re-insert themselves into society.

You make some fair points here! When it comes to addiction however, in my experience, porn is viewed more like alcohol consumption rather than drugs, lets say cocaine for example.

It's all about the amount and frequency to them, like with alcohol, you're not seen as an alcoholic / drunk if you only drink occasionally or partake on weekend drinking or social drinking. So, they extrapolate using that, that porn is ok if you do it once a day or a few times a week or month and you're in control, it's human nature, men need it, it's up to you to not overdo it etc narrative.

Versus cocaine, where people have stricter views about. Not many people will say "I want a partner who doesn't drink" vs "I want a partner who doesn't do drugs/cocaine". I'm using cocaine as an example and not weed, as a number of people are quite relaxed around it's use. You'd be hard pressed to find people (in the general population that is) to say they're okay with a partner using cocaine recreationally or in the weekends only etc. It is seen as drug, an addiction and generally frowned upon.

Many women adopt a no drugs policy as in my example above when it comes to porn while most men insist on an approach similar to alcohol when it comes to porn consumption while in most cases completely reject that it's addictive. A number of women hold similar views unfortunately because of internalised misogyny and socialisation.

The similar to alcohol approach further perpetuates the myth the porn is natural, common, part of life and issue-free, does not affect society, misogyny, violence, toxic masculinity, the objectification of women, sex slavery and trafficking etc.

Addicts can be dangerous indeed, but saying that addicts don't deserve love is in my opinion going to far. They need support, specialist help and treatment and to work on themselves. I would not work in the mental health field if I didn't believe that people have value and are worthy of love and support and change (again, exceptions apply etc). So, on this one we disagree. People can at times extend this to include people with depression, trauma, suicidality, the homeless, sex workers etc., so I'm always wary of such broad generalisations such as "addicts do not deserve love". It's a complex issue that requires complex treatment.

The lack of communication and being unreasonable is excuses or justifications or projections used either by the porn/drug/ alcohol user or his enablers or family or others who are too distanced from the issue at hand to be able to relate with the victim's/ affected family member's or affected person's lived experience.

You're right about placing addiction as the highest priority in their life and the need to sort things out due to their toxic and often abusive habits and behaviours.

With porn, everything is twisted and it's an uphill battled considering it's accessibility, "coolness" and public perceptions at the moment.
