One of my older and wiser co-workers once said to me:
If men could get pregnant, abortion would be free, and there would be a clinic on every street corner
Fuck the shitbags on that thread. If you really don’t want responsibility for a baby, don’t have sex. It’s that easy.
[–]Ms_TillyRuthless Strategist34 points35 points36 points (0 children) | Copy Link

If he were really taking "proper precautions" she would not be pregnant. Condoms with withdrawal.
[–]myousernameFDS Disciple50 points51 points52 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Most men think "proper precautions" means forcing their GF to get an IUD or get on the pill so that they can enjoy unprotected sex, ugh

r/unpopularopinion’s weekly reminder that men don’t deserve to have sex. Why do they act like it’s their goddamn entitled right to have sex consequence free?
[–]PoorPlainObscureFDS Newbie7 points8 points9 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah. Actions have consequences. If you really don't want to be a father then don't have sex with women. That's the law of nature and nature doesn't care about your feelings of entitlement.

The point is that men should not be able to abandon their children without assisting them financially. It used to be like that and it was shit for women. Men don't have one little sand grain of say in whether a woman has an abortion or not. This may not be the sub for you.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Sex leads to pregnancy. All men know this. Don't want a baby? Keep it in your pants boys.

Imagine if all women had to do to not get pregnant was not orgasm on a dick. Men have the easiest way of preventing whether they become a father then women do and they have 100% control over it.
-Purposefully puts their sperm in someone's uterus.
-Pregnancy occurs.
-Men: "men have no reproductive rights!!"

A similar post gave me the radical idea that men should pay taxes for children's services. We already pay with our time, body, and effort and too many men avoid paying child support.
[–]mememe88888FDS Newbie37 points38 points39 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Paying child support is THE easiest fucking part of raising a child. 🤷🏻♀️ like it’s honestly the least that you could do for co creating another human being. Losers.
[–]Ms_TillyRuthless Strategist31 points32 points33 points (1 child) | Copy Link
They should be forced to pay the insane medical costs of pregnancy and birth. They get off easy just having to pay AFTER the birth. In the US, that shit really adds up and GOD FORBID you have complications during pregnancy or after. C sections, baby or Mom (or both) in ICU, etc.
They don't realize how good they have it. Maybe one day we can get them to PAY UP for that too! And the ones that dodge child support can go to jail until they decide to work and claim taxes.
[–]wowthispostissadFDS Newbie25 points26 points27 points (0 children) | Copy Link
This gets brought up so much it’s ridiculous. There is already so much responsibility only pushed onto women now. If men have zero responsibility things will be so much worse than they already are...

Men already are able to 'opt-out of a pregnancy completely'. Nobody forces them to have sex with women.

Imagine wanting to abandon your own kid who is alive and breathing and wandering around in the world. Imagine wanting to fight for that.
I am against abortion after the first trimester (12 weeks), so don’t use that as an argument. There is a world of difference between terminating an 8 week pregnancy and abandoning your living, breathing baby.

outside of places like china or india, very few women are aborting babies because it's a boy instead of a girl and that's a very dangerous rumour to spread. 92% of abortions happen within the first trimester. no woman is letting a baby grow inside her for 6 months and suddenly deciding "nah". it's expensive and most doctors won't even touch you post 20 wks. what's much more common is that they find out the baby has a medical condition that is incompatible with life, like microcephaly (where the baby is born with a smaller than normal brain or even no brain).
[+]butterflymeadowzzFDS Disciple-14 points-13 points-12 points (5 children) | Copy Link
I mean, you can disagree all you want but I think it’s a bit of a broad statement to say that no woman says nah and then gets an abortion.
I love to think it’s not common at all. Gives me a bit more hope.
But even so, why does it need to be legalized up until birth or why can’t it just be a doctor-mandated thing that is recommended at the point when it becomes dangerous?
It’s great to be in support of women, especially women who have traumatic circumstances, but to say no women are selfish enough to do that, is just naïve.
Remember, it’s the LVW’s we’re trying to be separate from.
[–]hoIds_up_sporkFDS Disciple9 points10 points11 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Sure, there are definitely women that do that but it's in the very very small minority for several reasons. First of all, you can't have an abortion that late without the consent of an OBGYN. I live in a country where abortion is literally legal until you give birth, yet the "latest" abortion 3 clinic allowed was 24 weeks (23 wks 6 days), 2 with cut offs of 22 weeks. A few more had cut offs of 20 weeks. The most limt by far was 12/13 weeks (aka end of first trimester). So even if we WANT to get an abortion for funsies at 32 weeks, unless you find a very unethical doctor, it's not going to happen. Secondly, the cost of abortion skyrockets every week you remain pregnant so it's just not financially sound to wait that long. If you do want to get an abortion after 24 weeks, it'll be done on a case by case basis. Just because it's legal doesn't mean that an obstetrician will agree. It's hard enough for women with babies who have legitimate fetal anomalies to get late term abortions, it's almost impossible for women who DON'T have fetuses that are incompatible with life to get them. 1% of abortions happen after 20 weeks, and the vast majority of those are due to medical issues, read this. So that's why I said "no woman"- because people like to pretend that all women having late term abortions are just doing it for shits and giggles when the majority of those women would have given anything to be a parent to a living child. The number of women doing it for fun is negligible.
[–]ManchurianCantaloupeRuthless Strategist3 points4 points5 points (3 children) | Copy Link
Well it's a statement that's literally supported by all the well-documented statistics on the matter. It's also just common sense. The cost of medical care for the most basic things is astronomical in this country, especially if they're not covered by insurance. My foreign friend (who has no insurance) needed a simple blood panel and the diagnostic company demanded $1,200 up front. Do you know how much anesthesia costs? An elective late-term abortion is not even financially realistic for the overwhelming majority of women. Your post is full of rhetoric, not fact.
A woman's medical decisions are between her and her doctor.

And that has... nothing to do with.. anything I said?
It should be legal in all fifty states. Adding more legal hurdles is bad for all women. How do you suppose you prove it's rape or incest or a medical necessity if late term abortions become illegal? We already know how rare rape convictions are. Also, lawyers and judges aren't doctors and should not be making the determination as to whether or not a doctor's medical opinion is legally justified. Guess you'd be okay with killing women because you think a fetus is more important.
It has been explained to you half a dozen times you will not find a doctor willing to do a late term abortion for the hell of it. They're literally already only done for special circumstances.

I am also against abortion either way but early on is still safer and less evil. I think late stage abortion is monstrous unless there is a medical reason (eg baby or mom is at risk).
[–]fanofswordsFDS Newbie2 points3 points4 points (0 children) | Copy Link
most late stage abortions occur because
-either the mom or baby is at risk
-the kid has some horrible genetic malformations that mean their lives will be horrific
I've sat in on these conversations with the family. It is horrible like you can't even imagine. The mom cried, the guy sobbed. Just let people have abortions and make their own decisions. you don't have any idea what they are going through

Yes, I'd also like a pony and free sex without the financial and physical burden of birth control, with an automatic get out clause if I'm in any way inconvenienced by the realities of reproductive biology. Give that genius another reddit award!
Hope he celebrates with a nice bag of doritos and his favourite anime body pillow in his Mom's basement.
