This is a question I think about regularly. I think people do change to some degree as a result of life experiences, hardship and achievements. On the other hand I don't think people completely change their core personalities and completely change in every shape and form.

If people (as in the entire population) really change why is the adult world eerily similar to what you experienced in high school? Sure many juvenile aspects associated with teenagers seem to disappear but only translates to those same aspects becoming more covert and passive aggressive. One of the biggest mistakes I've made so far in my life is thinking the real world is different to high school; when if I was smart I'd have realised that the same people who went to high school also populate the adult world too. You learn the hard way it's not necessarily what you know or can do; but who you know and who likes you.

The same problems that plague us in high school often plague us as adults (anxiety, depression, personality disorders etc) but we do get better at coping with these issues. These traits have strong genetic inheritances but can be brought out through environmental factors as well. We also learn that some things are not good to do to another person and maybe develop some empathy for somebody other than yourself.

I notice on this sub that really the difference between the two pills is the answer to the question do people really change. Redpillers agree with Dr House and think that people don't really change. Bluepillers think people do change and see people as beings of endless growth, change and potential. Contrast to redpillers who think only they're the chosen ones who fix themselves and improve; while most people are bluepill losers who are stuck in mud. Redpillers especially believe this is true of women who say women "are the oldest teenager in the house".

In fact this is really a feeling vs systemiser debate isn't it. Feelers are more likely to think people have endless potential while systemisers see things at face value in that unless you show evidence you're special you ain't special.

So are human beings "the oldest teenagers in the world" or are they special and growing every year?
