I enter the bathroom after a woman and it's down, I touch it once to put it up.

Woman enters bathroom after a man and its up, she touches it once to put it down.

Seems like perfect equality to me. The female optimal scenario has me handling toilet seats way too often and them not at all. That's for the birds as far as I'm concerned.

I've worked as a cleaner. Many women don't "sit" on the seat anyway preferring to hover over it.

The default setting for a toilet seat, is both parts of the lids closed. It's more hygienic when flushed this way, and everyone using it has to lift it for use.

I have only ever cared when needing to go to the bathroom at night and half asleep fallen in. (The feeling of falling was my issue)That said. My parents were adamant that all of us put the lid down when we flushed anyways because ewww.

Heck. I’m more bothered when people don’t flush. Who cares up or down. Grab a tissue. Use it to move it. But flush the gosh darn toilet.

What is so hard about looking before you sit? As a guy when I have to take a shit I always make sure to look before sitting since I could have pissed (at home) or someone else could have (public facility) and put the seat up before hand.

This has always annoyed me massively. WHY should men, by default be expected to always leave the seat in the position women want and not vice versa, or more fairly, just leave it in whatever position you've put it in to use it, and the next person adjusts it to their requirements, and so on.

The current societal stance, is that men put the toilet seat down. This means, that when a man uses the toilet the operating steps are:-

Lift toilet seat
Pee
Replace toilet seat

Versus when a woman use the toilet, operating steps are:-

Pee

3 steps for men, 1 step for women. Obviously this is not 'fair'. So, as I mentioned, the optimum operating procedure should be to just leave it in the position you used it, and the next user adjusts it to their requirements. Assuming the previous user was a member of the opposite sex, the operating steps would be:-

Men

Lift toilet seat
Pee

Women

Replace toilet seat
Pee

In other words, exactly equal work and equal treatment. Which is what women are all about in today's world, so I have no idea why they wouldn't support this. In the instance that the previous user was of the same sex, happy days! All you have to do is pee. So with the 'leave it as you used it' procedure, both sexes have a max of 2 steps to complete, and often will only have to pee and nothing else. The current societal stance requires men to perform 3 steps every single time, and women to have 1 step every single time. Completely biased to one sex.

My girlfriend told me to put down the toilet seat. I did, it is a simple task and easy to do. So simple that she could just do it, but she’s not the one who puts it up, so it’s fine. I have been trained to look before I sit because I’m a man, women don’t have this extensive training.

I forgot a couple times. When she said I “broke” the toilet, I would stop what I was doing and put the seat down for her.

Well, she likes to put the toilet paper on backwards. She says it doesn’t matter. I don’t worship Satan, so obviously I disagree. I ask her to put the toilet paper on the only correct way. I say so nicely. A couple days pass, and the toilet paper is still backwards. I tell her I’m gonna start leaving the toilet seat up. A couple more days pass, and she flips the fuck out when I ask again for the toilet paper to be one the right way.

I never complained about having to out the toilet seat down, and I always immediately corrected the problem when I did forget the few times I did (over the course of two or three months). But she flips out when I ask her to change her behavior, to the point that she no longer uses that bathroom.

We had a talk about it, and she just doesn’t see it as a big deal. I say I don’t see the toilet seat as a big deal, because you’re supposed to look before you leap, but I never complained about it. It’s apparently different.

My point is “girls will be girls”. I love her and she’s a good person, but they don’t like to reciprocate favors. We are meant to be helpful and think of them, but they can inconvenience us all day long. I must remember to put the toilet seat down several times a day, and I ask her to put the toilet paper on correctly once every couple weeks (assuming she’s even the one who uses the last of it) and it’s too far.

I grew up with women who would yell at me to put down the toilet seat. I developed a habit that lasted to this day. When I am done peeing while standing up I put both the toilet seat and the lid down together.

Honestly though? I always thought only men with issues do and say that. I sit on the toilet even when I pee, because it's just gross that your piss is flying all over the place and you have to clean it all the time. It's unhygenic and gross. To the guys saying "I don't sit while I pee, I'm not a girl" you have some issues over your manlyness. Get over it. It's just a toilet, if you use it alone then Noone cares, if multiple people use it, sit the fuck down.
