I sat down to dinner yesterday and just had this moment of peace. Everything was fine in my life and I was able to actually relax. Soooo much better.

Well the way I came to terms with losing full time access to my children is that if I had stayed married I would've taken a shot gun to the mouth and then they'd be without me forever. Haven't had a real battle with depression since.

I noticed that my lactose intolerance cleared up on its own after I moved out. Apparently the stress of living with her was causing me all sorts of health problems. Dropped 40lbs too ✊

I believe peace is underrated. If you're better off emotionally, physically, and financially after a separation... makes me wonder if I'll ever consider a relationship in the future.

Yeah I had this lower abdominal pain probably an abscess or an ulcer. I realized recently I haven’t had that pain since she left.

I used to feel like I was hobbling around like I was in my 70s when I’m only 42. Now I’m getting in better shape.

Stopped drinking every night.

Just being able to live my life without constant fear of criticism is such a relief. I’ll never live with a woman again.

I had a lot of unexplained diarrhea. Cleared up within a week or two of moving out.

Absolutely the same. It is interesting how the stress of being in a bad marriage can negatively impact your health.

There is a reason husbands die before wives. The non-stop nagging, bitching and questioning causes high B/P, anxiety, stress and cardiovascular problems...not to mention...alcoholism. The economic insecurity of it all rests on your shoulders. You thought you got a partner but got a middle aged daughter instead. She even calls you daddy! You realize you will be lucky to make it to 55 without having a stroke or heart attack, suicide or jail. Man, just writing this sets me free! Lol.

Shit cured me of almost all of my health issues. Doctors would have had me eating pills like a bowl of Kix every morning had I not cured myself.

Separated in Oct (she asked me to leave and I did). Moved into friends condo -> airBnb -> got a very nice rental. I had never been more peaceful and stress free 🧘‍♂️ Was sleeping more and better, essentially no chores. No caring for her. Despite supporting two homes actually have an increase in my discretionary income. Working out more and reconnecting with friends / family.

I filed Feb 1st, and since then my sleep is messed up (waking up after 4 hrs, like on the nose). It's getting better but still not right. Was sleeping like a baby while separated so I know it's some odd stress manifestation... but even so, my life is only looking up.

I calculate that once this BS is over I will save $160-180k a year not being married. I'm losing nearly everything, but able to take all that money and plug it into investments. I should be better than I was in 2-7 years.

I contemplated suicide multiple times a day for the last two years of our marriage. Always knew I could never act on it; a friend of mine had lost his mother to suicide a few years earlier and I got a front-row seat to the devastation it causes to the kids and the community. But I really wanted to do it, and I would sometimes sit for hours resenting my friend’s late mother for getting to check out early and stopping me from doing the same.

I used to sit in my car sometimes saying “I’m going to kill myself tomorrow” until I convinced myself enough to get through the rest of the day.

Now it’s been years since I’ve been suicidal. My depression isn’t completely gone, but it’s only an occasional thing, typically only lasts a couple hours, and is now completely manageable without the antidepressants I took for several years.

I would say that has almost certainly increased my life expectancy.

No much worse my ex is really high conflict. Crohn's is worse, Asthma is worse. I have less free time.

I exercise more but I've put on a lot of extra weight.
