Actually a friend of mine went thru something similar and his marriage was only 5 years. She did nothing, left him, claimed she needed to up her education and he was forced to pay for 5 years plus 4 for school. He was making 200k per year and she bankrupted him in alimony and lawyer fees for near 10 years. His retirements gone, his mental health gone. And she finished her degree and never worked in it. His rod of her but lost his retirement in so many years of his life as well. Protect yourself first.

Sounds exactly like what I went through, but my marriage was done after only 10 years. After my exwife's 5th time of switching careers or re-schooling, I've had it. Luckily she started as nurse on the last round and was getting paid better than her other entry level jobs, so the child support was not so bad. But she switched employers 3 times already since just last year. lol

Marriage is a scam that enables lazy people.

Be a hard ass. No favors. Don’t give her anything without getting something in return. Avoid talking to her. Make her communicate thru text or email. Any leverage? Like things she done in the past her parents or friends don’t know about? Don’t forget the tax consequences. Work that in to reduce.

She will have to help with kids college on her own. 1/3 cost unless your state differs. Maybe a leverage point.

So wife didn't work but did she at least look after the kids everyday while you were at work? Kids don't miraculously look after themselves. Gotta giver her credit for that at least. with my ex, She was a good mom and did a good job raising my kids.

Get a good trial lawyer. Ask good questions in free consultation. Look at 3 lawyers. Manage the process. Ask for a good legal assistant to help you prepare for trial.

My lawyer was so good the opposition hired him for his daughter's divorce. If you can sit in a trial with the lawyer, how the judge treats the lawyer is an indicator of how good he is. Wife settled/didn't show up to court for final decree.

My ex is the same. MBA — which I urged her to do— and still she wants alimony on top of child support, while working a job that pays less than she would have gotten her first year out of MBA. She’s a child. Her parents are buying the condo we live in from our landlord. She’s a fucking child. A child raising 2 young children. I have to be the adult for 2 but I refuse to be a parent to her.
