Our mediator calculated CS at $824/mo and Spousal Support at $1,550/mo. This would equalize our income after tax. She also said after child support ends in 2 years, the $824 would roll into spousal support keeping my payment the same.

My state of Wisconsin does not have a calculator for spousal support and it seems like equalization of income would be the absolute best offer she would possibly get from any judge.

She earns $55K per year and I earn $137K per year. The $2,324/mo payment after taxes seems excessive, but fair if the goal was 50/50 income equalization.

What do you guys think about using income equalization as a measure for spousal support? Should I try to approach this more on a basis of how much she needs to live? This would give us both about $90K gross income. Should I try to go for 60-40 instead of 50-50?

Maybe I should try to prevent the child support from rolling into spousal support and keep it at $1550.
