I'm loving it. Walking thru Walmart yesterday and seeing a dozen men scrounging what was left in the seasonal section or buying shitty flowers right inside the door, thinking how pathetic it all is, it's a stark reminder of why I'm single.

I was born on Valentines Day, yet during all of my relationships I've still been expected to do the romantic gestures of Valentine's Day. I've always said that if you're with someone that you shouldn't need one particular day to show it! Plus the holiday was basically created out of thin air! As a newly single person (not divorced, but back to back LTRs that didn't work out), I can say that this year it was nice to just enjoy my birthday and not have to run around for gifts/chocolates and sit in a fancy crowded restaurant. I went to a sports bar and watched the fights with my friends and today I just relaxed at home all day and ate my birthday cake!

Not gonna lie it's been rough. I mean it was kind of nice, the idea of just doing my own thing. But im still recently separated and I think my STBX is seeing another man. I couldn't get the images out of my head of her naked in bed with this other guy smiling and moaning and orgasming in ways I could never make her. Just tore me up, not enough alcohol in the world to get that out of my head.

Anyways I'm just glad it's over, never expected to feel that way after I'm making strides getting over her.

I had lunch with my gf. We got each other a few things. First time I was into V day.

Never cared for V day when I was married and resented the expectations around the entire day.

Goes to show that when we have the right woman in our lives that we enjoy doing these things.

I spent more this year on Valentines day than I ever have!!--I gave my teenage daughter a card, flowers & gifts! Best Valentines ever!

Yeah I’m five months out of a relationship where I could do no right. Valentine’s Day was a anxiety inducing day where I was damned if I did and damned if I didn’t. I bought myself some whisky and a video game and relaxed the whole night. I was so glad to not have to do anything this year. Such a relief! And like someone else mentioned I too ended up in Walmart and noticed all the guys scrounging for the last minute valentines gifts and thought god I’m glad I’m not in their boat this year.

We always got into huge arguments on Valentine's Day, somehow. It always started out nice but then some trivial incident would send us into an escalating fight. A few years ago, we went out to a nice italian restaurant, had wine, it was really nice. I was thinking that we might get out of this one without fighting this time. The car ride home from the restaurant is about 5 minutes.

I kid you not, when we are roughly 3 blocks from our home, she is sitting in the passenger seat and says "You know, I've been really finding myself attracted to black guys lately". I am not black. I was just sitting there like.... what? It didn't even register to her that she had said anything wrong. Like I wasn't a person and my feelings didn't exist. When she realized she fucked up, she apologized, but never could explain why she even said that in the first place. Of course the reason being is, it was true. And she chose that particular time to say it, right as we were getting home. I don't know if she didn't want to have sex (we usually didn't) and this was her avoidant way of getting out of it or what, but this is just one of the many things my wife did like this, like I wasn't even her husband. After that, I suggested we no longer celebrate Valentine's Day.

This Valentine's Day was a treat. Nothing happened and I made burritos and played some video games and talked to a friend on the phone. It was a peaceful, pleasant night.

I’ve never been a fan of this Hallmark holiday. My ex hated the fact that I never celebrated Valentine’s Day. Don’t need to worry about her complaining anymore
