It's really nice when you can get pretty for yourself. I try to have different outfits. Dressed up outfits that are for special occasions, but also outfits that feel comfortable and still look dressy. Always feels like a winner when I get a compliment and no one notices that I have the same comfort level as if I'd be wearing sweatpants.

Yes me!!!! I've already glowed up but now the goal is to look as expensive and intimidating as possible so that I could weed out the broke, unambitious, and those weak in the mind. Tf I look like having my shit together - rising to the gods - while texting someone whose life and confidence is held together by cheap ass glue and prayers? Hell naw. I'm levelling up again, fuck that.

I was going to make a post on this. Dont underestimate what makeup and working out will do. Every day when I finish getting ready I’m like damn I look too good to be dealing with lvm. One of those morning talks with myself actually made me go throughwith breaking up with ex. “Why are you putting up with him, you look too good to be doing that” 😂

I've spent my time in lockdown working out a LOT and I'm in the best shape I've ever been in. I've also revamped my skincare routine....I can't wait until things start opening up again so I can see if it was worth it.

Same and yes girl when you look polished and makeup slayed dusties won’t even have the nerve to try to step to you because they know that you are expensive💅🏾 You attract HVM of means when you look your best so keep it up sis🥰I personally love makeup and i wear it for my own personal pleasure but every time i go out i make sure i am done up because you get different treatment when you look good.

I'm trying to fix my hair (horrybly dry and frizzy). Cut it at home and have been doing treatments. I'm also trying to fix my chipped nails and improve my posture.

Makeup to me is strictly for special ocassions only. But You do you.

I've definitely spent the last few years of my life refining and perfecting my "lazy but pretty" looks when it comes to makeup, hair and style. Too much effort and you look like a crazy clown up close and people make annoying "going somewhere fancy?!" comments. Plus I just don't have the skin texture, money, or time to pull off contouring and fake lashes every day. I don't have the patience or money for manicures but I file my nails into the current trendy shape and paint them with 1 nude or clear coat. Shiny is always better than nothing.

I found updating your accessories (like glasses and jewelry), haircut, and keeping clear skin matters much more to presentation than just trying out new makeup though or wearing a lot. No matter who they are people can just kind of tell if you're current and up to date or not and that makes you look not just young but smart. Lively.

Yes, sometimes I'm not feeling the make up but it really does make a difference in how confident I feel.

I overhauled my beauty routine the second I read the FDS handbook too, so that my skin will glow naturally and my body will look great. Now I dont put anything processed in my body (if I cheat I'll probably get something small like fries.) Lots of water only, quit drinking coffee, lots of fruits & veggie based dishes like black bean tacos with onion, guac and salsa.

Then the skin care routine, a mask once per week, wash and moisturize, face & full body every day or at least every other day. ♡ and it helped me realize how gorgeous I am without the make up.

But still, the make up is definitely a must to take your look to the next level. And wardrobe too which admittedly I havent even started on....

I used to judge women who did their makeup often, now I realize I was just jealous. Now I see another woman wearing makeup, and see the effort they put to look nice.

I’m just so over makeup. I’m so sick of putting it on because I feel like I have to, not because I want to. It was so freeing in this lockdown and working from home to not have to put it on everyday. I always felt like I had no choice because I have pale, blotchy skin with a lot of acne scars. I felt like I couldn’t leave my house without makeup and it was a huge burden. This lockdown has helped me come to terms with my skin, and also realize that a lot of the treatments and creams I’ve been trying are actually having an effect. I was too self conscious before to notice.

I’m still not comfortable barefaced but I’m getting comfortable with just a light dusting of powder. I also got my lips blushed this week (semi permanent tattoo) so I won’t need to wear lipstick.

Yes girl! I went through a break up then found FDS. First bought myself new clothes, then hair products and now I'm waiting for a lipstick order! When I get into a new relationship I stop making that effort but from now on the focus is ALWAYS gonna be on me, that's the best way to always look and feel your best! Make yourself #1 priority, if that means trying new styles, go for it!!

Since maybe the tail end of last year (which was a terrible year for me mental health-wise) I have been dressing up every time I leave the house. I don't care if people think I'm "overdressed" or whatever, it makes me feel good and gives me confidence. It's all about what makes you feel good.

Yes! I do my make up because I enjoy doing my make up. It gives me a confidence boost and it’s sort of a hobby of mine. I don’t do it for men nor do I care what they think about it.

A couple of months ago I cut my hair to shoulder length and dyed it black. It was a different direction from the long red-brown I usually go for, but I really like it and it suits me better. And I've been focusing on a skincare routine in place of makeup.

For me, it is about respecting myself. If I do not respect myself enough to put effort into my clothes, makeup, hair, and health, it is hard to demand respect from others. Maybe it is just me, but how much I respect and take care of myself is not just physical, it reflects in all areas of my life. So, while I do think makeup is optional, and I do not believe we have a duty to look beautiful, I think it is valuable to spend that extra 30 minutes on yourself out of love.

I've also started working on myself. I really enjoy working out and eating healthy. I quit drinking and it honestly made me feel great. As I've learned to love myself, I've learn how to take care of myself better.

Yes especially with not going as many places, now when I go ANYWHERE I feel like I need to look like my best self. I curled my hair to go grocery shopping recently (lol) and the girl handing out carts told me I was really pretty...day made!!

I've gone the other way! I used to do my makeup every day, even if I was only going to the supermarket or gym, but I realised over lockdown that I didn't do it at all when I was just at home. I'd been telling myself that I did my makeup for myself, but this experience made me realise that I saw it as more of a chore than anything else. I got tired of needing to spend my time and money on something I didn't particularly enjoy for other peoples approval, so I decided to stop wearing makeup (apart from special occasions) and instead dedicate myself to improving my skin care routine. Now my skin is better and I have so much more confidence in my natural face

It's great that you found internal validation from wearing makeup, but I totally disagree with the idea that wearing makeup is needed to be a HVW! imo, a HVW has confidence in the way that she looks, whether she is wearing makeup or not. I think a HVW also is secure enough to make the choice on wearing / not wearing makeup based on her own values, not on societal expectations and the need for external validation :) I agree with the idea that putting effort and thought into your appearance is a HV trait but don't think that makeup is an essential part of that

Yep! I’ve been trying to find a routine for my curly hair, although I might just end up cutting most of it off and starting over. I’m working on fixing my diet so my skin clears up and I have more energy. I’ve finally got my exercise routine down. Got new clothes, I’m working on my makeup skills, my nails. Sis is doing the same. We are coming out of quarantine as totally new people!

I'm doing the exact same thing right now! I used to refuse to shave my legs because "I would rather spend my time doing something else" (also cause fuck the patriarchy), but turns out I just continually overbooked my work week. Now I spend time nurturing my skin as a peace offering to make up for the stress I've caused myself. A light makeup look and paying more attention to fashion has given me 100% boost in confidence. Tess it's all self love .alot of women don't know spending alot of time on grooming is a short cut to healing .I drink lots of water ,walk an hour each day I do light make up even when I'm not going anywhere .Bathe x 2 .do a facial massage every might from YouTube ( just 10 minutes) oil my body ,Use bio oil on my scars and I just ordered for some cute simple dresses online .day by day I feel good and I'm not even thinking of dating soon .enjoy your womanhood 🤩
