As a Gen Xer who was heavily socialized to believe that men aren't supposed to be able to take care of themselves emotionally, this stuff literally makes me ill. I spent way too much time in an abusive marriage cuz I thought "marriage was work" and that I had to be the emotional leader in the family, i.e. the responsibility for the marriage working was on my shoulders alone. Because men are big giant emotional babies who can only fight wars and mow yards.

It turns out that this kind of cultural conditioning is really fucking destructive for little girls who are already getting kicked in the teeth emotionally by their fathers. Every one but my mom served me up on a huge silver platter to be abused and used. I was taught not to have boundaries with men cuz they will punish you for it.

Ya know what, relationships do take work, but not getting ground down day after day. They can change their own emotionally-shitty diapers.

Basically: don't make him have to work so hard to have access to your body. Be easy, so he has access to sex, money and anything else you have. Don't make him put in any effort into the relationship, he might have something else going on in his life and you, as a woman, always need to be emotionally and physically available to any and all men. Help build his broke ass up because men nowadays are so coddled and incompetent, he needs help 100% of the time, like a small child. You, as a woman, should always be there for your NVM because it's your lucky duty as a woman.
