When I was a kid my mother cleaned houses for elderly people. One of them, Elgie, we spent quite a lot of time with and also took her places, shopping, etc. She was in her late 80s and very tiny and frail. We often took her to visit her friend "Jim" in this hospital. They had known each other for a long, long time, possibly grown up together, I don't remember all the details. She adored him. She always talked about him, asked about him, fretted and pined over him. And he was so nasty and rude to her and to us. I hated him.

Up until the very end of her life, she dreamed that they would get married. Didn't happen, not that her life would have gone any better if it had.

I often wondered what she ever saw in that ugly, nasty man. I never imagined what widespread behavior it was, to waste one's life pining and hoping for something that was never going to happen. I think about that poor lady, and wonder how many women out there are just like her.

Of course they do, they all benefit from keeping the bar as low as possible. They all benefit from the abusive/predatory/fuckboi guys doing the dirty work. They like things the way they are.

Maybe I'm too cynical, but I doubt this guy gives a flying fuck about women, this sounds like a "nice guy" thing. Probably wants to bang his friend's girlfriend, and is mad that his friend gets to have all the fun.

Going through this right now. My girl will: make packed lunches, cook dinners every night, clean the house, go on his boat to watch him fish, fold socks, help him with his side hustle -- all for the same NVM scrote with a shitty moustache to tell her he has no time for her and can only really give her half a night every week if that.

I hate it here.
