Lost a close male friend of over a decade over this . Thought he was a HVM but he hid from me he was friends with a rapist and a wife beater . Claimed he dropped them after I confronted them and Thanked me for “educating him “ . Caught him in a lie about seeing said wife beater a week later . Then he dropped ME as a friend . He still sees himself as woke and a feminist though 🤷🏽‍♀️

I was bullied by neighborhood boys and constantly called a “sl-t/wh*re” because even though I was a virgin and hadn’t even kissed a boy yet, my best friend who lived one street over at the time who was a 1 and a half years older than me, that had been sexually active with some older boys who of course went on to brag to the whole neighborhood. So, because I was her friend and we hung out almost every day, these neighborhood boys, who knew I wasn’t doing those same things (though eventually these boys would start lying and saying I had done stuff with them), still considered me a “whore and slut” as if it were an innate way of being for certain girls and women, in this particular case white and non muslim girls (though brown, black, and asian women/girls are the targets of this in the US. more often), regardless of how many males they have or haven’t been sexual with.

This was in a city in the US that has the highest Middle Eastern/Muslim population outside of the Middle East and me, my friend, who I’ll refer to as Kay and her developmentally delayed younger sister, who I’ll call Amy, were some of the only white kids/girls in our neighborhood, and just out of about maybe 20 in a middle school of hundreds, the rest were middle eastern with just a few black kids in the school and one black family in the neighborhood. Which these middle eastern boys already learned to consider all white and non muslim women to be “wh*res” which they continued as they got older, with the idea that they could use and sleep with these women and then later settle down with a nice virgin hijabi girl from their, and/or their parents, country.

Sadly enough, Kay had engaged in sexual acts and sex with those older boys because she hoped it would make them like her and be nice to her. She and her sister Amy were sexually abused by multiple of her severely mentally ill and drug addicted mother’s boyfriends. The mom would disappear and leave her daughters with her parents, the grandparents and eventually she would be gone for years at a time and then only show up for a brief one day visit, often with another new boyfriend, both of them high on drugs. It’s all a really sad long story actually.

Kay and I lost touch as adults, she moved out of state with a boyfriend and the last time I saw any of the others was about 9 years when I was 22 when visiting my dad who still lived in that house across the street, and Amy, the intellectually delayed (and very sweet, kind, and naive) sister who was 20, but mentally still like a 13 year old, was pushing a stroller down the street. I went up to talk to her and it turns out she ended up pregnant by some abusive asshole Yemeni guy who used her for sex, beat her, and then dipped when she got pregnant.

So now these grandparents are now still housing her and raising another kid in that same house that was disgusting, stunk, and all the furniture and everything else, including the air, was full of new and old cigarette smoke. They had numerous animals that weren’t properly cared for, and the cockatiel they got died after a few months, being kept in the main room the adults (and Kay beginning at 12 years old) smoked in. The grandparents supplied Kay with her cigarettes. They weren’t like nice sweet old grandparents, they were still in their 50’s while raising my friend and her sister and they were always very cranky because of it. Even towards me, they were never nice and always cranky for no reason. So I can only imagine they are all the crankier now.

They were still in their 50’s while Kay and Amy lived there and they were still partying on the weekends and would leave Kay and Amy at home with their creepy uncle who lived there and still did when I ran into the Amy with the baby.

So the very messed up and trauma inducing cycle in that family continues.

Sorry this went off track but I just thought this was a story worth telling, even if only partially and in a disorganized way.

My ex’s friends should have been the first red flag, he turned out to be just as shitty as they were! They took drugs, saw prostitutes and some were cheaters and abusive to their girlfriends, but he was totally different of course 🤦‍♀️
