That said, there are quite a few towns where the Olive Garden and RL are the nicest restaurants in town. Not everyone can live near a Ruths Chris.

I find it so hard to decide whether or not and if so, how much to judge a guy based on their affinity for chain restaurants.

I'm only 23, and though my family is lower middle class, we did indulge with dining experiences pretty regularly throughout my childhood, so I'm accustomed to eating at nicer restaurants without necessarily having any occasion to mark. When we sat down at restaurants like red lobster or olive garden, that was like my parents were feeling too lazy to cook dinner that night. (We didn't do a lot of fast food or takeaways)

But I do get that at my age, that's not always the common experience and a lot of guys really DO believe that those chains are great sit down options (still lacks creativity however you slice it, but anyway..) so on the one hand, I'm hard to impress, but also I can see how it's not always the guy's total lack of trying.

Honestly this is kind of classist. For some (probably a lot of) people red lobster is a nice meal and they’d be happy to take a date there. As someone who didn’t grow up eating at those restaurants it wouldn’t occur to me to do that but I’m not going to judge people who do. I do think that a grown adult should expand their horizons a little bit especially when dating and be more creative. But I’m not looking down on people who take their dates to a chain especially when there might not be other options where they live.

I once refused to meet a guy at a Cheddar’s he found that was literally half way in between our respective homes (he sent me a map screenshot) and in the middle of a dangerous neighborhood. Have never been more proud to be called “too high maintenance” in my life lol

Last guy I went on a date with apparently thought Olive Garden was "fancy". I've had genuine French food in Paris, and ate a real pizza in Italy once. But Olive Garden is "good quality" 😒.
