How do you feel about dating men who live with their parents past 25? How about past 30? What about if he has a roommate..or 2? Or 3? I am speaking from a U.S./Western perspective.

I tend to avoid relationships with men who still live with their parents. I am over 30. I feel it would severely limit/restrict the relationship when it comes to privacy, unless you live alone yourself..but even so, you may not want him constantly over your place. Whether it eventually comes to alone time or even just his parents being in his business, it seems like a recipe for disaster/frustration.

Though a handful of acquaintances have bfs who still live with parents, I rarely encountered this in my own dating life (after, say 28 or so), until the pandemic (lost their job or they thought it was not worth it for them to pay rent in a more expensive city while working remotely.) I understand things happen and someone could be living with their parents to save up or get back on their feet, but 9 times out of 10 it's still still a no for me because I prefer not to start a relationship with them in that transitional period, anyway. Exceptions could possibly be made if it was truly temporary but they could still afford to and desired to have their own space soon (ex: one man I talked to who moved back home during covid to spend time w his family while working remotely. I know some people take care of sick relatives as well, but sometimes that lasts for years)

As far as roommates, in more expensive cities, a lot of people tend to have roommates well into their 30s and 40s. Also, for us younger generations (Millenial and Gen Z) in general, having roommates is common at older ages than before. However, I'd prefer a man who can live comfortably on his own (because if we get serious that is a sign he can provide for us). Living with roommates often means either he can't afford to live alone or he would rather stay with other men and live a bachelor like lifestyle. On the other hand, he may just be saving money to put towards his future, a house, etc though.

As for roommates, I look at it differently for men than women. Like I mentioned, men tend to live a bachelor/fraternity like, sloppy lifestyle when living with other men..and most men over 30 who have roommates give me Peter Pan vibes..Especially multiple roommates...so I guess there is also a difference between having one mature roommate where you can possibly have space and privacy/alone time sometimes vs living in a house full of people.

I don't want to have to sneak over a mans' home or if it gets to the point of intimacy feeling so restricted/ having to be extremely quiet.. I'd feel like I'm dating an 18 year old...
