Seeing "Is a gamer" being first on the list, even though in no particular order I'm assuming, brought a spark of joy back into my life. OLD profiles mentioning video games are an immediate swipe left. It's like saying you like to watch tv. Great........anything else.....?

Happily married woman here! FDS was founded after was already married but it’s very similar to the strategy I used while dating. I was taught by my parents to treat dating like interviewing a man for the most important position in your life. I’m surprised by how “controversial” FDS is to men on reddit— when it’s basically the same dating advice my own father gave me a decade ago. Most of them are in the handbook but red flags I looked for while dating:

—not willing to pay for the date or wants to split the bill. (reason: potentially unable to provide or sees dates as a transaction of “date for sex” but has been “burned” so many times they don’t want to pay unless they get guaranteed sex for paying for a date)

— doesn’t ask me questions about myself with follow up questions using my answers. Or excessively talks about themselves (reason: possible narcissism)

— talks about how “hot” I am or would focus on my looks. (Reason: might only want to sleep with me & has no interest in a LTR)

— doesn’t ask for commitment quickly. I’d give a man 5 dates or 1 month (whichever came first) to ask for commitment or I’d break it off. (Reason: he probably had other women he can’t decide between or he’s not ready for commitment. I’m not going to compete for his affection. If I’m worth it to him, he’d know by date 5)

— follows lots of Instagram models. (Reason: he’s being / been desensitized to what a normal woman looks like and might have unrealistic expectations for me)

— watches porn. (Reason: unrealistic expectations)

— mentions their ex without me asking (reason: possibly emotionally unavailable)

— makes a comment about another woman’s body or clothing choice in my presence (reason: unrealistic expectations or sex obsessed)

— pressures me to have sex or tries to push my boundaries (reason: just wants to sleep with me and not a LTR)

— doesn’t pursue me. He needs to set up our dates & text me first, at least until it’s a relationship. (Reason: he might be weighing lots of options or could just be lazy or he’s just not that into me and I didn’t want to be the girl he settled for)

— has ever had sex outside the bounds of a committed relationship; cheating or a one night stand (reason: more likely to cheat on me)

— drinks alcohol on every date we go on; even though I don’t drink. Or pressures me to try alcohol when he finds out I’ve never had any (reason: possible alcoholism or confidence issue)

— tries to plan last minute dates (reason: his plans might have fallen through and I’m a second choice)

— curses a lot in front of me, especially since I don’t curse at all. (Reason: possibly lacks respect for me as a potential LTR relationship)

Most LVM self selected out when they found out I wasn’t going to put out. Some hung around for a few dates, but I was pretty good at judging their character. Hope this helps!
