While it's great that FDS and similar groups are gaining traction online with women, the unfortunate downside is that our visibility extends to male circles too. I am seeing more and more instances of male communities transfiguring FDS principles and therefore making it harder on all of us. Here are just a couple of examples...

  • "Simps" - They are essentially the equivalent of the pickme: They are men who are overly eager to please their women, and would allow themselves to be degraded by one if she tried. Unfortunately the term "simp" is being applied to those men who commit acts of kindness and express basic respect within a relationship. A man who is prone to being influenced by these ideas is less likely to treat his woman with the affection she deserves and more likely to withhold resources from her in a serious relationship.
  • "Kings" - Men are seeing how we refer to each other as Queens and decide that they have a crown too. They act as though they are the prize and that women must prove themselves to him via several means, whether it's paying his phone bill, giving up most of her time for him, performing domestic labour, sexual acts, or otherwise. Of course, a king can't possibly limit himself to one woman, and will likely keep a host of sidechicks for his lowness's delight. While male entitlement is nothing new, the trend of calling each other kings is only going to increase rates of audacity within the dating pool.

As the average man's sense of entitlement balloons, women are at greater risk of falling into the pickme trap. The solution to this is that we spread the FDS message even further so that the men who think they can use FDS for themselves meet with a rude awakening. We may not be able to change men but pickme's can be saved from their fates and the more women who recognise their value, the less men will be able to profit from the misery of their partners.
