I saw a video recently that said basically almost everything put out by the media is for the male gaze only. Because of that, men don’t understand what women want to see. They don’t get that things that are typically masculine (fish, cars, gym muscles, etc.) are things that would be impressive only to other men. And yea, I believe that men who don’t understand that are basically not very smart at all, not creative, and don’t have their own identity. That’s why OLD is a shit show

The photos where he's trying to look "cool" with a lighted tobacco product in his mouth or hand -- saves me a lot of trouble, you've weeded yourself out so to speak... so true, most of them are leaning into what impresses other men.

Where I live there are exactly 3 pictures every man here posts on OLD (and usually in this exact order): 1) Holding a fish on a boat in shorts and brown flip flops 2) At the football stadium with the guys and one random girl while holding a beer and wearing brown flip flops 3) Sitting down at a family bbq outside on a lawn chair with the fam behind him. In brown flip flops.

It's always the obvious groomsmen photos. Makes it SO clear that they would never usually wear a nice suit or put effort into their appearance, it's just a special occasion thing so they use those pics. Yawn.

Honestly the gym bros are the lamest. To so many of them their whole entire lives seem to be centered around going to the gym. They’re also most likely the kind to start complaining about your physical appearance or lifestyle habits if you date them. To me they come off as shallow, narcissistic and self-centered. A big no.

I also get similar vibes from men who post pictures of themselves leaning on very expensive cars which they obviously don’t own, as another commenter said. I’ve seen so many of these and they make me want to barf. Also, if he seems to have a lot of pictures from nights out it’s usually a strong indicator that he will sacrifice a lot of evenings with you for nights out getting drunk and possibly even cheating.

The idea that men are not considering what women might be drawn to also at least partially explains the negative and hostile text in so many of these profiles, where he's going on in very nasty and misogynistic detail about what he doesn't want. Why would we be attracted to that?
