If what you receive in your relationship makes you happy, more power to you, those are your standards to live by. But the running theme with all of these comments is they are bringing down and insulting other women. That’s the truest form of pickme there is and a low value woman. The minute you start trying to bring down other women for having higher standards than you, you’re telling the whole world you think women deserve less. And then these same women wonder why men treat them the way they do.

Whenever I read posts like this I get so sad for women that are okay with it. I don’t want a $25 ring. I don’t want my partner to propose to me with no ring or a ring pop. It’s okay to want your partner to spend real money on your ring or plan out the bombest proposal ever. You don’t have to settle! Set that bar fucking high ladies. The men who are worthy of being with you will meet the standards and ALSO ADD ADDITIONAL STANDARDS that you didn’t even know you needed.

Call me a gold digger all you want but I like nice things and I will not settle for less.

Prior to finding FDS, I might agreed with some of these sentiments. I have come to realize that I had lowered my expectations to 0 to protect myself from feeling disappointed. I was unaware of my own self-worth, and didn't want to feel the hurt of not feeling valued. I was absolutely tickled by bare minimum displays of affection, similar to the descriptions in these posts. When I was really young and dumb, I even accepted a mood ring the one and only time I was "proposed" to. (Clearly that never got past the "proposal," and without knowing why I felt very uncomfortable even using the term "fiance." It didn't take long for me to void the idea that that was a legitimate proposal and I am embarrassed to admit that it ever happened).

Seeing these kinds of posts now, I honestly just feel bad for these women because I recognize the attempt to deny their pain and their ignorance. It's not about whether or not you're gold digger- you can have standards and value your own self-worth and still prefer not wearing jewelry or liking a simpler/ minimalistic aesthetic.

Sis, I am also not into anything big or lavish because I hate public attention and troublesome lengthy processes, and can't wear accessories because I have atopic ezcema and thus, paper thin skin.

But if a guy is going to propose, he will do it right and respectfully and properly. Because you are marrying me, so I better see that respect there sir.
