Men can and should have standards. If a guy is dating a girl that he feels is beneath him, then he's going to mistreat her. We don't want that. I think this dude is conflating "I can be selective while dating" with "I can shame people that don't match my specific criteria for a romantic partner." LVM love to use the idea of "having standards" as an excuse to be a huge jerk and bully women.

When men have standards, they use them to tear down the women who don't fit them. When women have standards, they usually don't even entertain the men who don't fit them.

When I was on dating sites men always found a way to point out I wasn't what they were looking for. They could've easily not approached and saved their energy for women they did like, but nope. They had to turn it into a neg to make me chase them.

It's worth noting that I'm bisexual, was looking for men and women, and not once did a woman call me a fat ugly slut. That was all men, and often after I'd already given them a polite rejection.

So yes, men ARE allowed to have standards. They're allowed to like whomever they like. What's frowned upon is the way they treat women who don't meet their standards.

Of course people have preferences and choices. No one is forcing him to date anyone. But the fact that he wants to go on reddit to rant, play victim (the whole woe is me act) and then insult women while at it... seems real insecure to me. Its not like we see women on reddit complaining about how it’s unfair that they are expected to lower their Standards and date short, fat, bald men with beer bellies. 🤷🏻‍♀️

And it’s so hypocritical that he rants about men “being allowed” to have standards but is pissy about women deciding who is worth their time. If he rejects women for not fitting “his standards”, then women are allowed to reject him for his crappy attitude. It almost seems like he wants to date women way out of his league but is salty that they don’t reciprocate. Tsk tsk such entitlement.

IMO, it isn’t right to randomly attack a man’s appearance anymore than it is to do that to a woman.

However, from my own experience, women are constantly pressured to overlook a man not being physically attractive to her, while men are usually allowed some leeway.

There is an idea that men can “make up” not being physically attractive to a woman, whereas the reverse is not true.

It's fine if you have standards. But I think it's questionable when men say they have standards, but they immediately thirst after an instamodel or a woman who is light years out of their league. He said "no fat chicks, baby mama's, broke chicks". These men want a rich top model woman while he looks like porky pig with an elmer fudd face. And ladies, this is how a NVM thinks. Standards? These are called preferences, and in what universe is it a thing that men can't have preferences? Let's say you know a high value man who respects you and has a crush on you, then he finds out you have a kid. Do you think he would reject you based on that, or he would be excited to give love to your kid as well as you? Right, no high value man thinks like that.

A "man" who thinks I'm not worthy of him because I have kids? The further away he stays from me, the better.

That's fine, bro. You're allowed to have standards and say them and get thousands of upvotes. But you already had limited options and you're just limiting them even more. Also, this means you can't have sex with anybody you listed on your no-fly list. Relationship or GTFO. Sorry, I don't make the rules.
