One of my biggest pickme regrets is seeing men coming back as a compliment. I saw it as a sign that I was irresistible and irreplaceable, but now I know it’s the exact opposite. It’s an insult both to you and the women he dated between the relationship with him ending and when he reached out later. It’s an embarrassment. Every man I've ever dated has tried to get back in touch. I've been calling them boomarangs for over a decade.

They're sexual social climbers. The minute they get an attractive woman interested in them, they feel that a more attractive woman MUST be around the corner. This is especially true when they've been with her for a while and she becomes "boring" or "older". So off they go chasing their dreams. Eventually they hit their standards limit, and have to adjust to get sex at all.

Once they end up alone (ie. reality smacks them across the face like a cold, dead fish) suddenly Ms. Not Quite Good Enough starts looking pretty good again.

The next time it happens, do what I do. Send them an Eminem meme that says "You only get one shot".

They have a strict system that they follow because they need a way to get laid somehow. So they shoot their shot LONG after the relationship (platonic or not) is over. Constantly, and repeatedly.

I have had the same scrote for over 8 years who has kept my number, and somehow continues to find me even after I changed my number. He's never shy either. Comes right out and tells me "IT'S SEAN REMEMBER?"

Btw sometimes they even dump you just to come back. That’s how they want to gain power over you (giving you time to miss them) then they resurface and hope you’ll adjust your behavior/standards. It’s a thing.

two years ago, when our child was not even six months old, my ex ended the relationship because he was bummed out about my ppd. shared custody means I can’t block him, so every 8-9 months we go through this bullshit where he asks me to get back together while pretending like he’s not asking me to get back together. it’s equal parts hilarious and rage-inducing

Unless you tell them explicitly to go away, they always come back. Sometimes it’s weeks, sometimes it is years. They often want to fast track a relationship with you and they know that women are socialized to keep our “body counts” low so he thinks he has a better chance.
