My old boss was 18/19 when her husband (30 at the time) began pursuing her. She said she felt like they had an instant connection as soon as they met and that’s why she fell for him so quickly. She’s now 40, and it’s clear that she has outgrown him as complains about him incessantly. She’s upset with him because she has routinely caught him watching porn videos of barely legal girls (go fucking figure) and he cannot do anything for himself (cook, clean...). Men like this are usually just stuck in one place mentally and they never get out of it. It seems that their wives outgrow them and come to resent them in due time.

She had kids with him after a year of dating and constantly tells me how if she could do it all over again she would date around waaaay more and try to establish herself more in her career before settling down and having kids. It’s heartbreaking to think that many young women won’t understand this until they make the decisions for themselves and end up regretting them.

A lot of people like to claim that the young woman is the person holding all the cards in a relationship like this, and to a short-term extent, there's a lot of truth to that.

However, women in situations like this don't learn proper relationship skills, are likely taken care of financially (but sometimes not), and grow comfortable with being in what is essentially a child-parent relationship. They may quit school to focus on being the perfect wife (and get discarded when they age out of the man's preferred range).

It looks like a woman shooting up the ladder at lightening speed, but the end-results are usually nasty.

There is literally no good reason for an age gap like this for someone so young. Hell, dating mid to late 20's at that age is a super red flag. It sounds to me like he is grooming her and/or matching her age maturity of 19, neither of which are good for a dude in his late 30s.
