This is why every woman needs feminism, no matter where they live. It’s a complete oxymoron to be a woman but not a feminist. I remember being like that when I was younger and influenced by my hugely misogynistic family - I shot guns and put women down at every opportunity, I was a reallll girl! Yeah well guess what, siding with men gets you exactly nowhere so I’ll forever side with women, always believe them, and always advocate for them and point out how dangerous men (whether it’s all of them, the majority, or just a few) are.

YES. This what the not-all-men people do not understand. The fact that “not all men” are predators doesn’t negate the fact that all women have to interface with the threat of male violence daily.

I used to call my fear of men irrational but given the amount of times I have been stalked, exploited and even assaulted, I realized it is not irrational.

Three different men in three different countries at three totally different times in my life. I can't even begin to describe the mental fuckery all this caused.

Men can never understand because they don't meet up with a woman thinking 'am I going to be safe?' They're too busy thinking about their dicks. They don't realise that although it's not all men it could be any of them. Even the nice ones. It's such a lottery of risk. Like they think these rapists are hiding in bushes in the park when it's most likely to be a man you know

There’s a park by my house. Only women run in it because it’s open and well lit. I have to assume guys are running too, but they’re not limited to just the park because they don’t have to worry about finding a low rape zone to exercise. Must be nice.

Exactly. I never understand what men try to achieve by repeating "not all men" when they know women will still avoid them, because how the fuck do we know which one is the "bad" and the "good" one? We always have to be extra careful. But they don't care about our fear or safety, but only about their ego, when they repeat "not all men" instead of trying to go against the bad ones.

Yes! And to add to that, people need to stop taking women’s defensive measures as an offense, we are not harming men by protecting ourselves from harmful men, and keeping our guard up until we are comfortable. Prioritization of your well being as a woman should be expected and anyone who tries to make you feel bad about it is to be avoided.
