A very rare example of a community that brings attention to the societal and internal struggles which men face without attacking women or feminism. In addition to addressing these problems, it puts a lot of focus on debunking the pseudoscience and misogyny that runs rampant in other men's rights communities.

How men are treated when talking about men's issue is definitionally a men's issue.

The dismissal of men talking about men's issues is called "testimonial injustice", or dismissing someone's perspective because of their gender, race, etc and it's an issue within critical social justice...when done to women, POC, etc.

This is all so juvenile. It's like the popular group starting a nasty rumour about you at school. They then laugh or ignore you when you proclaim your innocence and then you get punished if you object too much and are shamed for being "too sensitive" (read: "male fragility").

It's no wonder. Gossip and controlling social dynamics in order to hurt someone is classic toxic femininity.

It seems that most of the time in these types of subs, if you're not constantly shitting down men's throats then it just isn't good enough. Every sentence you type about men's issues has to be mired in the "I know men are evil but..." subversion, and by god do not have anything bad to say about feminism or that sometimes women have it better in some cases.

MensLib is not advocacy for men. It is advocacy for feminism, which only cares about feminism as PR when it comes to men's issues. "We care about the menfolk, see? We even have a subreddit for it that derides men every other word!"

It's okay. Getting banned from there is almost a rite of passage for anyone that actually wants to help men and won't shy away from criticism of women and/or feminists.

I want to believe they have their hearts in the right place but sometimes it's quite clear that they will always pick defending feminism over support for men.

Ah the old lets make the rules so vague and broad or even plainly obvious in itself that they are anti freedom of speech on the topics of conversation. It's just like the 2 party system of USA shutting out anyone not a neo-corporatist, the overton window is laid out plainly with just a different form.

Then leave the sub and don't look back. Join here or make a new one. Post your competing sub. They don't have a monopoly and if they do it just reinforces their corrupt nature.

Left it some time ago.

There was a discussion of how to stop men being killed by police the rate it happens, i mentioned i had discussed with my friends about it, and we came to a conclusion that it may not only be the rate we commit crimes in compared to women, but also how violent and dangerous we are compared to women (on average).

Men are most likely prone to violence more than women (not saying its only men) because of our old instincts. Its known that our brains still haven't developed much to this new type of life.

Of course, the gender roles we have also play a part in it, but because of the statistics and general behavior, we are more prone to violence when defending ourselves.

They removed the comment for implying that some things are inherently masculine and feminine.

Of course, i may be completely wrong, and am open to many opinions and ideas, and I would love to know the truth. Do tell me if I'm wrong.

I'm not a feminist but I don't believe in the first part of that sentence. No offense, but you seem to be taking the all or nothing approach that probably turned people away from feminism and wondering why it's turning people away from you.

It's a holding pen where they try and direct men into in order to control discussion and contain the growth of interest in mens issues. Ofcourse they want you to sit around discussing theory rather than discussing praxis.

I certainly feel like they can be harsh to censor too fast on menslib. I think they should have let your post stand and let people in the community sort through it themselves versus making that call for them.

With that said, it's certainly ground that has been covered extensively before on menslib. Of course that doesn't mean it shouldn't be continually brought up! But your last paragraph is decidedly lacking in nuance, which isn't too helpful to anyone.

Ban is still too harsh IMHO.
