"Positive masculinity" just sounds like another way of saying men need to be the best of both a traditional and modern man except without social support, guidance or even reciprocity.

If anything I find that to be worse than being told to be a traditional man only. Also we aren't going to include "Positive Femininity" of how woman need to be the best of a traditional and modern woman. So yeah I am calling BS on this.

Something I have wondered is even if men did live up to these kind of standards why wouldn't this kind of man only target the top % of woman who also offer the best of both a modern and traditional woman. Seriously why should a guy like that settle for most woman ??? Ironically pushing these kind of standards on men may only be creating the kind of man who would not want the vast majority of woman anyways....

This a bunch of BS wrapped in vague language to sell a book about what men should be to a bunch of women. Just watch it again and pay attention to when he shifts from "Men" to "Masculinity" and back. He headlines Provide, Procreate and Protect. But does not see those except in the service of his moral and ethical framework.

Plus, I love the "Boys are stinky! Right Girls??" He tossed in there. If we have an entire class of people not even being taught the way and importance of bodily hygiene, then the glaring underservice we are doing this population is the problem not the BO.

Scott Galloway is just about the shittiest most problematic "ally" I can think of. Yes, I guess he barely qualifies as "ally" because he is attempting to support men against the misandry of the mainstream feminist paradigm, but his views are so bad that he's likely doing more harm than good.

I find it quite interesting how these people want to talk about masculinity when doing whatever it takes to not allow to talk about feminity. Interesting that an ideology is so stipulent on consent, completely ignoring the very fact that they were not given consent to talk and police our behavior. Funny.

I think people forget that Feminists live in their own world where they play the moral judge. Moral relativism does not exist under Feminism, only one moral compass is allowed. It´s quite literally pointless to have any form of conservation with these people who don´t believe in moral relativism. They cannot see any wrong in their own behavior, thus they can never be at fault. Responsibility or accountability cannot exist for that reason.

It´s similar to the concept of the Patiarchy. It´s like a religious cult. It was god´s wish. It´s not wrong, because it should be right.

I would respect the idea of positive masculinity a little more if it wasn't so anti-sexual.

I think it would be fine for feminists to tell straight men what they want from them as a collective standard as long as it doesn't inhibit our sexual freedom. IDC how "feminine" they'd want me to act as long as I'd be accepted by them in return as a potential heterosexual partner with equal rights & responsibilities. Unfortunately, this is only feminism in theory, not in practice.

Despite making strides in equality. Exclusive responsibilities and expectations based on gender. Is just sexism plain and simple. Positive masculinity is just one side to a complex issue. An issue that affects one affects all. Unless we work together it'll never be recognised and solved. This isn't the responsibility of just one group of people. Unless we're all pushing in the right direction we'll never make any real progress.

Here's my take: the traditional roles of men (builders, defenders, providers, etc) can be filled by men and women but it should be a choice. One should be judged by their choices, not their sex, race, or role. How is fulfilling a role a crime? Why is it wrong for a man to work hard in a role that was traditionally male-dominated?

Society needs these roles and they need people that can fill them. It's what people do as individuals, not what roles or jobs they fill that determines if they are positive or negative.
