Most common folk, (myself included, while I lived there), live in poverty and are treated shit by the government, employers and just about everyone else. Most outsiders don't see that though cause Budapest is the crown jewel of the country and it is ensoured that it gives a good impression for that sweet sweet tourism money. Go to any town that isn't in a travel brochure and see for yourself. Fighting immigration policies is a small step towards it not being shit hole.

I lived in Norway for 12 years; I left in 2016. Back in the USA now...
Norway was hard too, to be honest. Less immigration than Sweden, yes. But difficult in other ways. Also VERY high taxes. I paid 40% income, 25% sales, 100% vehicle, etc. There was a yearly TV tax just to continue owning your TV, there were road fees. What I'm saying is, I worked very very hard there at two jobs trying to get ahead, but the government took from me nearly everything I earned.
Back in the US now, I've nearly quadrupled my income in 3 years.
And don't get me wrong, the US has it's issues too. Women in Norway were entitled as well, but no where near as bad as the US. I was sleeping with attractive feminine women there, but here I can hardly get any eye contact even.
I think perhaps eastern Europe might be where I try next, when I reach financial freedom. I'm thinking Hungary

"Climate scientists" have been throwing numbers and predictions of doom at us since at least the 60s. Every prediction has proven wrong and the studies are all bunk. The studies either use false/manupliated data, selectively chosen data or are severely faulty in their analysis. Ultimately, the goal by the "we only have 10 years left" crowd (every 10 years we get another 10 years) is to undercut America's ability to compete with the likes of China. It's why they never take on China even though it's by far the worst offender both for actual pollution and Co2 (which is not a pollutant).

We are at a tail end of the last ice age and potentially, entering another warm cycle. What irks me the most is that people out there saying the earth is in danger because of climate change.... no no no.... humans are in danger and specifically the way we live... on the surface and next to big bodies of water. But Nature Don't give a fuck about humans.... it'll do what it has always done... change. So yes, agreed, that cutting down on un-natural source of "climate change" contribution will help reduce that "un-natural" heat generator.... but earth will still warm up regardless... through natural and solar system level mechanism. Be careful with the so called climate change experts out there.... I know NASA is one of them but even they admit that human factors to climate change is just one aspect to global warming, read their articles about it. But most "climate change experts" are pushing for funding either from the government or donations. They do "research" and offer to provide more "research" if they continue to get funding thus paying their salaries.... To summarize... yes, we should work together to reduce un-natural contribution to global warming. But to actually get results and quickly... it would require everyone sacrificing their current way of life... I bet you most of the same protesters or activist would ease off on protesting once they find out that they have to pay extra taxes, give up their Air Conditioner, their cars (even electric cars use fossil-fuel base parts and not to mention the manufacturing of those parts), give up comfort (cold showers), reduction in food supplies (less agriculture zones thus less meat or vegetables), possible limit in breeding (less people less consumption less pollution etc)... How so? I say that teenagers most certainly can take part in politics. They don't have the right to vote, but to voice their opinions and actively take part in political debates are their right. They have liberty of speech too.

I saw this list of the top 100 cities and it appears to be skewed in the direction of Democrat. Don't get me wrong. The democrats have been a pack of corporate bound scumbags too, and I think Clinton would have been worse for America because she would have been better at "boiling the frog". But there appear to be a few candidates now who aren't beholden to the oligarchy who actually have some decent policy.
Kansas went full retard with the trickle down economic policy and it caused crisis rather than prosperity. So that puts paid to the concept that the only reason why Republican economic doctrine isn't working is because they don't do it enough. The reality is it causes all the money to flow into the hands of the people at the top of the pile, so the consumer base with money to spend shrinks and with that goes the economy, and the quality of life of the average person. The most obvious statistic pointing at America's decline is the falling life expectancies. I think it may be the first time in history that life expectancies in a developed nation have declined outside of the world wars.

For example California's feces problem or black death outbreak (holy), Baltimore crime rate, insane legislation in NY regarding abortions etc. Every-time I hear anything along these lines it's coming from states/cities with democratic (super) majorities. How much of that is a direct cause of republican or even trumps policies though? He lied to them. Everything he promised to do to help them he promptly forgot about. Everything he's done has simply been to enrich the already rich. It was sold under the "trickle down" economic doctrine that no sane economist has believed in for decades, and those who push the ideas behind it usually pretend it doesn't exist as people are now aware that it is incompetent economic policy that simply does not work.
The massive tax cuts which have resulted in record government deficits over a TRILLION dollars is a standard play called "starve the beast". And will result in the reduction of government services which disproportionately impact the working classes. All the while having negligible financial benefit for low earners.
What's worse is that intentionally exacerbating already severe inequality is simply terrible economic strategy. Shrinking your consumer base with disposable income results in fewer customers for businesses to sell to. In effect consumers are the real job creators as they employ the businesses. This is something that seems sorely neglected in right wing economics.
Robert Reich is probably the foremost expert on politics and economics that I know of, so I'll let him lay it out for you.

You're probably aware that the unemployment stats do not reflect either the quality of the jobs nor those who have been disregarded from the stats altogether due to exclusion for their time out of work. Nor underemployment due to the gig nature that many of the new jobs have morphed into.
Furthermore, phase one of "starve the beast" does look good because all of that borrowed money floods the economy through government spending, remember the government is the single biggest employer of the working classes. So the government running that strategy can point to the very temporary adrenalin shot that all the massive borrowing hits the economy with. Long-term however it's disastrous policy unless there's a devious plan behind the scenes to never pay it back, which I doubt.
Government spending under threat from "starve the beast" I imagine are extremely popular policies like social security, Medicare, public education spending etc. I really recommend reading the article I previously linked about "starve the beast". It's all played out in history before.

Using date from only the past 100 years doesn't mean shit. So statistically, the date can't be used to accurately predict future climate changes. It's definitely NOT man-made so if it's going to happen one way or the other, it's going to happen we can't stop it for slow it down. BTW, being hotter is better for humans than being colder, so why is this bad?
Also, as I stated above....if it really was CAUSED by humans (which is 100% is NOT) you could actually change it overnight by using Nuclear Power generated energy which produces ZERO CO2 emissions. Case closed. But you hear nothing about that do you? That's right because they know it's BS and the green assholes already fought so hard to stop nuclear energy in the 70's.
PS - YES, they can create safe nuclear energy now with upgraded designs that automatically SHUT OFF if there is a disaster like they had in Russia and Japan. The only down side is the spent fuel rods being radioactive but hey you're saving the planet right? Now more CO2 right?

I agree that the magnitude has been exaggerated and I'd call for a good 30 years before something serious happens. But a slow conversion is happening.
A lot of things are politically and economically influenced, usually by those with power to ensure they retain their position. This is why we're unable to do a faster conversion.
But the population bomb, the hole in the ozone layer, all of that is completely real, at least in my opinion.
Climate change won't kill us. Too big of a population might, and probably will.

Funny the cure for over population is Capitalism.
Capitalism has raised more people/countries out of poverty than any economic system ever devised.
Once people/countries are out of poverty their birth rates plummet. This happens in EVERY country and therefore if you want to STOP over population, Capitalism is the answer and the way to go.
As for climate change, it does this naturally anyway and if it has to happen getting warmer is better than getting colder for humans. Again, that is a fact. It is also a fact that higher CO2 levels and hotter climates EXPLODES the number of plants and animals on Earth as history has shown us (in fossils, core samples, etc.)

I haven't done any strong research yet so I'll just stand with you on the hotter climates=better ecosystems point.
But I still wholeheartedly believe that the ozone layer is punctured. And that is bad for us because cancer.
But in the end, I really would say nothing serious is going to happen in the next half a century.

Man made climate change is essentially a fact. The scale of our pollution and the size of the planet means we need to act now before too much damage happens. Advancements in clean tech benefit us all. Reducing pollution benefits us all. The info is out there but is being suppressed because it's in the "scientists" best personal interests to keep their mouths shut and their pocketbooks wide open. Yep, but different plants need different levels of CO2 in different climates. Humans are adding much, much more CO2 than the ecosystem normally handled, though. Plants also need a normal temperature range, and the increased CO2 is increasing the average temperature. This is a problem, and change needs to happen now because of the incomprehensible size and acceleration of the problem.
