I don't think anyone would argue that men (not male children) are sexually assulted less often than women, but that shouldn't mean that those incidents when it does happen should simply be ignored or disregarded. Although I'm not surprised that it does, considering the current culture in the US.
My neighbor's son is 21 now, but when he was 17, he was literally raped by a girl he thought was his best friend.
The victim was of average weight and height, but the girl who raped him was probably about 5'5" tall and easily weighed between 300 to 350 pounds.
The saddest part of the story is that the victim befriended this girl after witnessing some other guys giving her a hard time. He stuck up for her against the guys who were teasing her and then became her friend.
According to his parents (my neighbors), everyone knew this girl had a crush on him... except him. But they all thought it was just a little crush and nothing to worry about.
One night, the girl's mother was gone and she asked my neighbor's son if he'd come and watch movies with her so she didn't have to be alone. He went over and the girl had somehow gotten a bottle of alchohol and asked him to do shots with her.
That's the last part of the story that the boy remembered.
Fast forward to a couple months later and the girl tells the boy that's she's pregnant with his child. He was shocked because to his knowledge they'd never had sex or even kissed for that matter. The girl tells him that after they drank the bottle of whiskey, he was laying on the couch and she started to undo his pants. She admitted that he put his hand on hers like he was trying to stop her from undoing his zipper and then he mumbled something, but she said "I promise you'll like it" and since he didn't respond she kept going and "had sex with him".
He was super upset and told the girl that she shouldn't have done that to him and said he no longer wanted to talk to her. When he told his parents, they wanted to call the police, but he said he was embarrassed that "he'd let this happen" and begged them not to call the cops, so they didnt.
After that, the girl wouldn't leave him alone and after he repeatedly ignored her, she had the audacity to act like he was somehow wronging her. And once the baby was born (a girl), the rapist and her mother started running their mouths around town about how the boy, the victim, was a "deadbeat dad". But because the guy was so embarrassed, he never tried to defend himself or to tell people what really happened.
That situation definitely changed my perspective on this topic and it's really sad to me that this society is one where male victims feel unable to get justice.

This story is fucking terrifying.
Especially the part when a 350 pounds whale rape a guy who's too drunk to complain. I mean... he's so drunk he can't move, she's a fat monster... how did she do that? How can a man stays really hard in a situation like that? Was she really so desperate to have him inside her? It's horrifying.
Are they sure they actually have sex and he's the dad? Could she be a lier? Or the guy remembered something after she told the story?
[–]WickedClassy 29 points30 points31 points 9 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
There's more to the story in terms of what happened after.
The guy is a really good guy and despite what happened, he actually did want to know his daughter (in fact, when he turned 18, he fought for custody, but couldn't afford to continue fighting after the first 6 months or so).
He wanted a paternity test, but she kept refusing to allow it. But when he took her to court for custody, the court did honor his request for a paternity test and the results were positive. Plus, the little girl looks identical to him.
I talked to him about it and he said that he wishes he could remember because he feels like an idiot for not knowing what happened and he doesn't know how he got an erection, except that he was a 17 year old guy who was blacked out drunk while a girl took his pants of and apparently coaxed his penis into it.
He told me that he felt like if he told anyone, they would say it was consensual since he had an erection. Honestly, his statement made me so sad for him and furious with not only the whale of a rapist, but also the society that tells young men that they're basically all rapists in waiting, but can't possibly be victims of rape themselves.
P.S. Since the guy couldn't afford the court costs to keep fighting for custody of his daughter, he asked his rapist if she'd let him see his little girl and the rapist told him that he couldn't be with his daughter unless he wanted to be with her (as in, unless he agreed to be in a relationship with his rapist, she wouldn't let him see his daughter).
[–]DuntadaMan 21 points22 points23 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
He was a 17 year guy. The end. They didn't have to do anything to him, they didn't have to turn him on, it's simple mechanics. There was touch, the body responded regardless of what he would think.
There's nothing he did, there's nothing he could have done to stop it any more than she could have stopped it if he did it to her. It's not his fault.
[–]Rabid_Pink_Princess 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
if she'd let him see his little girl and the rapist told him that he couldn't be with his daughter unless he wanted to be with her (as in, unless he agreed to be in a relationship with his rapist, she wouldn't let him see his daughter).
Jesus... I'd seriously want to beat her face to a pulp. He's such a sweet boy, why does this sick monster have to scare him and destroy his faith in life and people? And she doesn't just destroy his life, she even uses her fucking own daughter as a weapon to blackmail him. In an healthy world she should be in jail and away from her daughter in a snap of the fingers. All this is making me so fucking sad.
I'm really tired of these sick women who alienate men with us. The majority of guys I've been intimate with, were somehow seriously scarred by one or more girls. I thought it was a coincidence, but I'm starting to believe that's the depressing normality.
he doesn't know how he got an erection
To be honest, after reading what a monster she is, I believe that maybe there was no erection at all, she's so sick she could have just masturbated him and took his semen...
[–]bannedprincessny 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
i assume if hes been to court for custody the judge ordered a visitation schedual. a mother cannot insist a father have a relationship with her as a condition to excercise his visitation rights. he needs to take his court order and the sheriff over to her house and pick up his daughter for his visitation time. and if she still refuses he can go back to court for contempt of court. this does not cost any money to do. "he cant afford" is just an excuse to give up.
hasnt he also been ordered to pay child support? cases dont just get dropped without orders because he ran out of money, he could absolutely do this without a lawyer.
[–]WickedClassy 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
His daughter is 4 now and there was a brief period of time in which the guy got to see his daughter.
He's actually in a serious relationship now with a girl who works with special needs elementary children in our local school district. I think she was part of the reason that he got his daughter for that brief period of time because the rapist cow didn't know how to defend her manipulate behaviour when confronted by the girlfriend who knew the laws and basically demanded that the guy be allowed to see his daughter... or else.
But then the rapist cow started playing a,sadistic game of hide and seek where everytime the guy went to get his daughter, the cow would run away with her.
I don't know all the details of what happened in court besides the paternity test order. There may have been some sort of custody agreement though, because the guys girlfriend told me, at one point, that they'd been compiling evidence (recorded calls, texts, videos, etc.) to take to the judge and have the cow held in contempt of court. So you're likely right about some sort of legal order, but I don't know all the details.
It's just really sad to me. He's an awesome guy. My oldest son (who's 9) absolutely adores him and because he's such a good guy, he'll actually stop and talk to my son whenever he sees him and asks him how school is going and football lol. He is very talented in electronics and wanted to go to a tech school after HS, but because of this situation, he never went. A couple months before the court stuff got started, he'd gotten a programming job that he was super pumped about, but due to the time required to go to court, he lost what was essentially his dream job. It's just a big mess.
I first met him when he was like 14 or 15 and he was such a happy, easy-going guy. He was one of the rare exceptions of a popular, talented teenaged guy who was also genuinely kind and cared about other people. These days, I don't see him very often since he now lives with his gf, but when I do, he seems so different from who he was before. His girlfriend told me that he takes meds for depression and anxiety and he drinks quite a bit.
He's still a very good person, but it's like there's no light in him anymore. It breaks my heart.

Has the rapist been thrown in jail like she should be
[–]WickedClassy 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I wish!!! For his sake, I really wish she was thrown in prison, but no, she's still living with her mom and together they sit around stuffing their faces, smoking cigs, and cashing welfare checks... while his daughter is ignored unless her mother needs to use her as a manipulation tool. At least that's the situation that I was last told about.
In the beginning, the guy didn't report her because he didn't know until a bit later and then he was scared that no one would believe him. Now, I guess he figures it's too late to tell the authorities about it.
I'm not sure if you're familiar with the movie "The Boondock Saints" (it's my personal favorite lol), but I wish vigilantes existed around here... then she could finally get what she deserves.

The problem is that those court orders are basically unenforceable for never-married men without a large amount of time/resources.
The common theme is that dad gets visitation once a month, but during that time mom is nowhere to be found, or outright refuses visitation.
Law enforcement will refuse to arrest, and tell you to go back to court.
Court says you have to talk to a mediator first.
Mediator says "do you both agree to follow the visitation schedule?" Both parents say "yes".
Mediator recommendation to court "both parents agree to follow the visitation schedule. Case closed."
Repeat.
Even if you can produce/document a long history of this sort of behavior, the courts are extremely unlikely to sanction mothers. Incidentally go look up stats on how many arrests have occurred in your state for violating a visitation/custody order. I'm betting it's zero, or at least zero mothers.
I'm not sure what exactly happened, but from what I heard and can recall, I think that he went through a lot of that.
I'm hesitant to say for sure because it's probably been close to 2 years since the court battles were going on and I can't remember all the details, but I do remember thinking that he was getting a serious run-a-round. My thoughts were that he was being told to jump through various sets of hoops, but all the hoops were pointed in the wrong directions... like the people running the show didn't have their shit together. He'd be super excited one day because he'd think he was close to getting his daughter, but a week later, something else would be required that made it seem hopeless again.
What really bothered me though, was the way he was forced to do all the hoop jumping, but the rapist mother didn't have to do shit but show up to court occasionally.

I don't think anyone would argue that men (not male children) are sexually assulted less often than women
That's the narrative, but many stats portray gender parity in rape victimization. The CDCs statistics, when you factor in women raping men, men have been raped at extremely similar levels to women in the 12 months preceding the questionnaire. But on the same questionnaire the lifetime rate of rapes for women are higher than men, so I'm not sure what accounts for the variance.
[–]LoicyT -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
Your followup makes it sound like you intended to write "more often".
I will argue that, actually. Why not? Women get away with rape more so they will naturally rape more. Checkmate.
[–]WickedClassy 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Well, of course you will argue any statement that begins with the phrase "I don't think anyone would argue...", because there's always that one who will argue any statement just for kicks.
Here's what I know, the data on male sexual assult, specifically rape, is inconclusive because men are far less likely to report it.
Most women (but not all) who are raped will report it to the authorities. Most men (but not all) who are raped will never report it to the authorities. So the data is inconclusive to say the very least... BUT among adult men and women, women are more likely to be raped (as in, being forced into the act of sexual intercourse) than men.
But even one rape is one too many and there's been far more than one man who was raped which makes it a problem and I think the lack of concern regarding this issue is a horrendously epic fail by society.
[–]LoicyT -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Based on what, since you admit the data is inconclusive?
Hope this is more solid than some "guys are stronger" or "guys are rapier" argument.
[–]WickedClassy 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link
Seriously... Since you mention your "hope", I'd like to share my own hope that you would have already trolled on by to start an idiotic argument elsewhere.
And your argumentative stance IS idiotic ("rapier"... really?).
I've read and heard sources who have claimed that in regards to sexual assult among children, boys are at an increased risk of being victimized. This could very well be the case and I wouldn't argue otherwise, but when it comes to actual rape (sexual penetration) women have been the reported victims of rape significantly more often than men.
Why?
Well, the info on why women are more likely to be the victims of rape vs. the perpetrators is an answer I don't have. And I've never felt compelled to go around polling rapists about why they feel the need to rape and what makes them do it. However, since you admittedly "hope" it's not because they're "stronger" or umm... "rapier", perhaps you should go around and ask them.
But when it comes to the actual numbers of reported rapes on women and also on men, I got my info from the FBI website. If you've got the time, feel free to check it out. The FBI site contains many reports on various crimes and the corresponding statistics. I highly recommend that anyone interested in knowing that kind of info should go and read it for themselves.
[–]LoicyT 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Rapier isn't my stance, I was expressing hope it was not yours.
"Rapey" is an adjective I have heard from feminists so "rapier" is a swordy natural progression from it.
women have been the reported victims of rape significantly more often than men.
I'm concerned with reality not reports. People who don't think they will benefit from help will not seek it.
since you admittedly "hope" it's not because they're "stronger" or umm... "rapier", perhaps you should go around and ask them.
Quit with the straw man argument. I was expressing hope not to hear silly arguments, not making them myself.
when it comes to the actual numbers of reported rapes on women and also on men, I got my info from the FBI website.
Irrelevant. You wrongly conflate "reports more rapes" with "more likely to be raped".
Women report sexism more often too. Do you think that means they are more likely to be targets of sexism?
[–]WickedClassy 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Quoting your own words isn't making a "straw man argument".
And if anyone is making a straw man argument, it would be the person who's trying to make a point (at least I'm assuming that's what you think you're doing) based on what may have happened or be happening (meaning, you're arguing against FBI data that states women are raped more often than men, based on the unknown number of men who are raped but don't report it). That's foolish.
No one denies that some men are raped and don't report it (did you even make it past the first paragraph of my post?), but I have NEVER seen or heard of any relevant source claiming that the number of unknown rapes is so high that, if it were a known number, it would surpass the number of known rapes on women. Such a source of information doesn't exist and that's because it's not a valid or factual claim.
You keep going around and around, no amount of reality or factual info will derail your desire to argue. And on that note, I'm not interested in continuing to play this uninteresting game of make-believe with you. Believe what you want... actual stats be damned.
[–]LoicyT -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
You misquoted it. I said I hoped you wouldn't argue men are rapier, not that I hope men aren't rapier.
The actual stats of reports are irrelevant due to culture.
My argument is this:
1) men and women are equally malevolent
2) women get more sympathy
3) women act more on their maleovolence since there is more tolerance for it
4) men are more frequent victims of rape in particular both due to sympathy for women and apathy toward men
Fuck the report rate.
[–]WickedClassy 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Male on Male sexual assault has frighteningly become more common in the Armed Forces in the last twenty years. A SSGT in my BTN in the Marines got caught for it in 2005. He had something like 11 victims testify against him at his Court Martial.

!! That's quite a comment to make that you don't have a problem with how women are never blamed for rape, never suspected, never technically even able to rape according to biased terrible laws
Not to mention that many studies place women at far closer levels of committing crimes such as sexual assault, domestic violence, rape and many others usually associated with men, so if anything, what we need is MORE investigation and openness on women who do these things-that you dismiss as being 'blame Olympics'. About 1.7% of men in 2011 reported being "forced to penetrate" by a women through either force threats or intoxication. Compared to 1.6% of women who reported being raped.
That was by the CDC and federal bureau of crime statistics. Women are raping men at equivalent rates that men are raping women, but men are almost entirely unwilling to report rapes.

Yep, its insane. The whole country believes rape is at best a 90/10 issues for women and men but the data is clear to see that its 50/50 and that women sexually predate almost unchecked because men are not taken seriously as rape victims, and are encouraged to cherish the experience.

This Annual report of Sexual Assault in the military says
Last-year estimated prevalence rates provide an estimate of how many military members experienced sexual assault in the twelve months prior to completing the survey. An estimated 4.9% of active duty women and 1.0% of active duty men experienced sexual assault in FY14 according to the 2014 RMWS.
*Edit: It then goes on to say:
Sexual assault is a crime that affects both men and women in the military. While women are at higher risk for sexual assault, male Service members account for the majority of the survey-estimated victims of sexual assault (10,600 men vs. 9,600 women in FY14). This is due to the fact that the military is roughly 85% male.
Edit2: The sources you list below state that civilian women are 14 times more likely to experience rape and more than twice as likely as men to experience sexual violence victimization other than rape (including being forced to penetrate.) So where are you coming up with the 50/50 figure?
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link
Well think about it this way. 15 percent of the service has the opportunity to predate on 85 percent of the service while abiding by traditional sexualities, and 85 percent has the opportunity to predate on 15 percent. This skews the numbers, but in society at large its 50 50.

In 2011 that number increased for both genders. 1.6 percent of women reported being raped and 1.7 percent of men reported being made to penetrate. The conclusion being that in 2011, more men were raped by women than women were raped by men.

These numbers are obscured due to them using an outdated definition of rape, but this study says that Approximately 1 in 20 women and men (5.6% and 5.3%, respectively) experienced sexual violence other than rape, such as being made to penetrate someone else, sexual coercion, unwanted sexual contact, or non-contact unwanted sexual experiences, in the 12 months prior to the survey
So, I didnt see a breakdown for that number specifically because they mix in sexual assault with full on rape, but the other reports of course clarify that 1.7% of men were raped in 2011
[–]clonette 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The CDC reports are widely criticized for inflating rape numbers. This article by Christina Hoff Sommers goes into it:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/cdc-study-on-sexual-violence-in-the-us-overstates-the-problem/2012/01/25/gIQAHRKPWQ_story.html?utm_term=.d2277933243a
Asking for sex more than once, acting disappointed when initially turned down, or being drunk but not incapacitated doesn't elevate it to rape, but in the CDC's statistics it automatically does.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
From your source:
Nearly 1 in 5 women in the United States has been raped in her lifetime (18.3%) and 1 in 71 men in the U.S. have been raped at some time in their lives. Nearly 1 in 2 women (44.6%) and 1 in 5 men (22.2%) experienced sexual violence victimization other than rape at some point in their lives
So what are you saying is 50/50?
[–]wobernein 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago* (15 children) | Copy Link
So according to 2015 demographics of active duty military that would be approx. 8109 females being assaulted and 9084 men.
http://download.militaryonesource.mil/12038/MOS/Reports/2015-Demographics-Report.pdf
Edit*- whoops. I used the data for enlisted members only and didn't include officers. The numbers might be a little different for the whole but should still be somewhere around what I posted
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link
Yep, so women appear to be about five times more likely to experience sexual assault in the military.
[–]wobernein 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago* (10 children) | Copy Link
Maybe. Or it could be that sexual assault happens equally between sexes and the numbers cap out with the amount of women. For example, if there were 50% women in the military, the percentages would look equal while the numbers would be higher for both sexes.
edit- or to take it a step further, if the military was 80% female and 20% male, the amount of sexual assaults would be equal between men and women but men would be getting assaulted at a higher percentage
[–]YHallo 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Even if that happens to be the case, women are still five times more likely to experience sexual assault in the military. Your comment implicitly states that this might not be true, but your reasoning isn't on point. For some reason you are responding to the comment as though it said "men are five times more likely to commit assault against women" and then argued against that point instead of the one the poster actually made.
It would be good if you edited your comment to reflect this.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is because of the disparity of potential victims. Ignoring homosexual offenses momentarily for the sake of demonstrating the principle, if there are 1000 men and 100 women in the entire military, and lets say 1% of each of them are rapists, 10 women will be raped and 1 man will be raped.
Leaving us with 10% of women being raped and .1% of men being raped. Its a matter of numbers, but not indicative of society at large because women outnumber men in modern countries.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Not true at all
Can you share any contrary facts to back that up? I put a bit of effort into reading the whole study, much appreciated if you could put more effort into your rebbutals.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
While I partially agree with you, I do not believe that, when all is accounted for, the split would land 50-50. That seems more like you guestimating off of lack-of-data inference.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Its based on the CDC report that in 2010 and 2011 the same percentage of men and women reported being raped (1.4 in 2010 for both, 1.6 for women in 2011, 1.7 for men)
[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It isnt. He made that up.
No, I didn't make it up. I compared two numbers from the same study that compared the amount of women who reported being raped in 2011 (1.6%) and the amount of men who reported being "forced to penetrate" which was not counted as rape in the alternate statistic.
Consequently, if we consider being forced to penetrate "rape" then we know that the other number in which "women are raped 14 times more often throughout their lifetime" is excluding something that is pretty plainly rape.
[–]LoicyT -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link
17 men are raped for every 16 women. So more than 50/50
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link
That was only for 2011, so i figure rather than nitpick over a 55/45 situation we just acknowledge that rape is an equal issue for both genders
[–]LoicyT 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Its an issue for both genders. I don't see why we need to call it equal.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
To mute the idea that men are privileged because they dont get raped
[–]LoicyT 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
If men are raped more often it is a predominantly male issue.
I can see why we should avoid that phrasing though. It would be interpreted as male-cause not male-effect.
Except that it isnt. Your own sources claim rape happens to women 14 times as often to men. Why are you so intent on lying to and misinforming people? Something you inherited from the military?
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Didnt i already explain to you that the source in question distinguishes "made to penetrate" from rape?
Again, you dont seem stupid. I know you understand the statistics at hand and what they mean. Are you that butthurt about the debate that youll forego that information to make a bitter comment? Thats sad.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
You lied to people who were too lazy to read the sources you misquoted. Yet youre proud of that circlejerk shit. Good luck getting anyone logical to take your side. Your commitment to obeying your narrative at all costs is admirable. You would make a great obedient soldier who refuses to think for himself.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Actually 14 times more women are raped than men according to that guys own sources. How can you not see that he just compared one crime happening to men with a different crime happening to women?
How can you not see that he just compared one crime happening to men with a different crime happening to women?
I didn't do that at all. The source compared the amount of women who said they'd been raped (1.6%) and the amount of men who said they'd been "forced to penetrate" (1.7%)
The other number about "rape throughout lifetime" is excluding being forced to penetrate.
The source compared the amount of women who said they'd been raped (1.6%) and the amount of men who said they'd been "forced to penetrate" (1.7%)
Yes so two different things. Compare amount of women who said they'd been raped with amount of men who said theyd been raped and you can see that 14 times more women are raped according to your own source and many others. See how youre comparing apples to oranges? Think. Try really hard and use your brain.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Yes so two different things.
Okay, so let me rephrase and perhaps you'll agree.
I'll replace the word rape and "forced to penetrate" with "raped by a man" and "raped by a woman.
rape = raped by a man
forced to penetrate = raped by a woman.
In 2011, 1.6 percent of women reported being raped by a man
In 2011, 1.7 percent of men reported being raped by a woman
This is what I mean when I say that men are getting raped as often as women. If you dont consider female-on-male rape on the same level as male-on-female rape then thats a separate discussion, but if we agree that both are rape, meaning forced to have sex with someone, then its happening to both genders at comparable rates.
And according to that same source, 22.4% of women will be raped by a man in their lifetimes, and only 1.7% of men will be raped by a man in their lifetimes. Meaning women are raped by men 14 times as often as men are raped by other men.
Have I successfully identified the disconnect in my other reply to this comment?
[–]Rethgil 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Exactly. I'm appalled at the obvious feminist trolls claiming women don't rape and that men aren't often at risk from women. The whole point of campaigns and posters is to EDUCATE, so what is the point if its just repeating feminist dogma and not even once mentioning women??

Women rape all the time, I was told this by a Navy Reserve Headshrinker, her civilian job was evaluating female sex offenders for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
[–]dethskwirl 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
if a man were to accuse a woman of forcing him to penetrate her, than she would simply retaliate by saying that he actually forcefully penetrated her; and suddenly he is being hauled away to jail for rape and she is crying to a prosecutor.

I'm pretty sure the vast majority of male rape is by other men.
Most of that "vast majority" is due to statistics only counting being penetrated as rape and not being forced to penetrate. If rape were defined simply as "forced intercourse", a significant amount of perpetrators would be female
It's important to notice this, because when people think of rape against males as specifically a male-perpetrated thing, that still marginalizes a significant portion of the victims
[–]Valac_ 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I was thinking more along the lines of prison but as I posted below there's no laws in the US against rape it all falls under sexual assault which doesn't require penetration at all

[–]marcooni1 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The problem is, that if you don´t point it out then 99% people think that perpetrator is male, same thing with DV. Sure I agree, that it is good, that gender neutral poster is good and acknowleding all victims, but as i say. The male perpetrator/women victim is so deep in most people mind, that unless you point it out, they automatically assume it.
[–]presumptuous_parvenu 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I'm naive in this matter so please address this perception of mine. Can a man's penis get an erection when a woman forces on him?
[–]AustNerevar 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes. Putting aside the fact that erections can happen for no reason at all sometimes (see: puberty), a big part of why rape is so traumatizing is that the body still responds to stimuli. Many women report being wet during their rape and a lot of the shame can come from the misbelief that they actually wanted it.
And putting side both of those arguments, its possible to drug a man to induce an erection.
Also, rape doesn't even have to involve the victim's penis.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes, your mental disposition towards something can affect things in a minor way, but stimulation is stimulation and the body is designed to reproduce.

[–][deleted] 108 points109 points110 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Sexual assault is leaps and bounds more broad and more common than rape. 1 in 6 is very believable. Matter of fact i find it hard to believe 83% of men go their entire lives without being touched without permission or et cetera.
[–]PIG_CUNT 9 points10 points11 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes, I think it's probably a popularized misquote. I think it's more like "1 in 6 report having been assaulted" when in reality it's far greater.
If women being grabbed by the pussy or pinching their ass is assault then I bet more guys get assaulted than women.
We all know that grabbing women runs the risk of an extreme reaction. And we all know that men are expected NOT to react like that, and that if he does, he's a huge wimp.
Plus it's supposed to be flattering to get groped if you're a guy. Thus it's far less taboo to do it to men, and based on what I see, far MORE common.
And a guy in good shape can expect to get treated like a piece of meat, by women, in ways that would be TOTALLY unacceptable if the very same thing were done to them:
Running their hands over his chest, grabbing and squeezing his arms, hugging, wrapping their arms around him, slapping his ass, and if they're drunk, grabbing his crotch. All totally commonplace acts by women on hot guys. Without asking. Which is no different than the outcry about Donald supposedly grabbing women without asking.

As an aside, how absurd is it that women say that shit? "You can't rape a man if you're a woman and you're not penetrating him." Bad enough dudes think male student/female teacher statutory cases are also impossible to rape the boy because it's a boy. He probably wanted it.

NCIS takes the bottom of the barrel in Federal Law Enforcement. They are pretty much considered a joke when compared to the Army's CID (Criminal Investigation Division). [–]SKNK_Monk 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I don't know the answer to your question, but I do have this insight:
To civilians, soldiers can seem like they are all hardened badasses who could never be victims, but remember that they are in a deeply hierarchical structure with severe penalties for disobedience. Young Privates can be ordered into certain death and have strong enough obedience training that they could absolutely be raped.
Male military personnel are often sexually assaulted, but the macho stigmata is alive and well in our Armed Forces. That makes coming forward very hard.

One thing I noticed years ago when I was still looking for support from organizations is that sometimes even the ones for male victims were solely from the perspective of a male perpetrator
Some would say things like "the stereotype that boys who are raped by men turn out gay is a problem male sexual abuse victims have to face" and one website even said "being a man who's penetrated the same way a woman is can be very emasculating to male victims" which I suppose is true but only for the portion of male victims who are penetrated by their rapists, but not all male victims in general
This hotline doesn't specify, so I'm hoping they'd take scenarios with any perpetrator seriously, anyway

Never thought I'd post a comment in this subreddit, but I'm working on animated shorts related to this poster and it popped up in my r/all so I feel compelled to respond with additional information.
Our work is for a branch of the U.S. Army called S.H.A.R.P. (Sexual Harassment and Assault Response and Prevention). I've been animating short training videos for about two years now. Over the course they've included some interesting tidbits of data, including that about 2/3 of sexual assault and harassment incidents in the army are male on male. Sexual assault isn't just physically attacking someone with the intent to have sex with them, it is filming a squadmate taking a shower without their knowledge, hazing a member of the unit by "pantsing" them infront of everyone, and, sadly some people need to be told this, placing an object in anyone's orifices without their consent is sexual assault.
The SARC (Sexual Assault Response Coordinator) is an active duty member who takes on the additional responsibility of being the first responder when an incident is reported, and coordinates with a VA (Victim Advocate), and an investigation is initiated.
I believe heavily in this project and though I know many active duty members bemoan SHARP training as death by powerpoint, many of their peers need this training. When you become a member of an armed service you are supposed to be held the highest standard of professionalism, responsibility for your actions, and learn to work with others as a team. Many enter fresh out of highschool and do not have this skillset or understand it's necessity. You are on a team doing dangerous work and that requires a lot of trust, responsibility, and care for and from all members of the unit. Assault or harassment at one members expense can damage their trust in their battle-buddy and affects unit efficiency and readiness.
Hopefully a few readers will find this enlightening, encouraging, and helpful. Working the last few years on these animations tackling real issues has been incredibly fulfilling.
[–]SKNK_Monk 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

[–]PTMegaman 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
For accuracy, I am a freelance contractor with a company hired by S.H.A.R.P. to animate these videos, so not working directly within the branch. Just an animator finding work in odd and unexpected places!
I was curious so I indulged a hunt for any figures. It took a lot of digging to find records of female on female or female on male activity, and the first strike is related to "Group harassment." Page 78 of this 2014 RAND corp study on assault and harassment in all branches of the military that found group harassment against an individual man or woman to be 75% men only, 11% women only, and 14% a mix of men and women. source
Another depressing factoid is that during "Don't ask don't tell", a victim of penetrative sexual assault could be discharged for reporting the incident, regardless of whether or not they were homosexual.

The US Airforce. Goodfellow Airforce Base is in Texas

I agree with the spreading of this message, but I'm dubious that 1 in 6 men have been sexually assaulted. I know the idea that 1 in 4 women are sexually assaulted on college campuses is definitely not true, therefore it seems that this figure may be similarly invalid.
[–]ByakurenNoKokoro 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
to be fair this poster says 1 in 6 throughout their entire lifetime, not just for the college years.
I believe its false but more plausible.
[–]Matty303 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, Certainly more plausible, but I still think its highly unlikely.

Isn't the 1/6 figure just as much bullshit as the 1/4 one for women? If I recall, they came from the same Mary Koss study.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
I believe the 1 in 4 figure is rape, this is just sexual assault
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
That is still a bullshit statistic. I like what the poster stands for, but we need to hold ourselves to a higher standard of truth than the feminists.
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
You dont think that in their life time 17% of men might experience unwanted touching? Ever?
16.6 rounded up. Perhaps. I'm just saying that plausible is different from provable. I think sexual assault shouldn't be as broad a term. It implies heinous crimes and the situations you described earlier usually would not be life altering evils. A man or a woman getting their ass grabbed in passing is gross and a violation, but I don't think we should just call them victims. I don't mean that males can't be victims of sexual assault or rape. I'm just saying that when you give a stat like 16.6% of men are sexually assaulted it makes the problem to sound a lot more widespread than it actually is.
A man or a woman getting their ass grabbed in passing is gross and a violation, but I don't think we should just call them victims.
They are victims, of sexual assault.
[–]R_Lupin -3 points-2 points-1 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Absolutely not, 1% maybe, it's never happened to me, nor do I know a Single male that it has happened to, just 3 females

[–]the3count 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
None of your friends are going to tell you they were sexually assaulted, that is why you don't believe it.
[–]BeefsteakTomato 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
1 in 4 wasn't rape, it was sexual assault and it counted catcalling.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Catcalling is not sexual assault.
[–]BeefsteakTomato 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hence why it's ridiculous to use the statistic. It was a self reported study (first problem) where they included verbal harassment as sexual assault (second problem).
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
I like the poster, but 1 in 6 is bullshit. Feminists claim 1 in 4 and that's fucking retarded as well. We have to hold ourselves to a higher standard than they hold themselves.
[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Sexual assault is a very broad term that can cover things like grabbing someones ass or even an unwanted kiss. 1 in 6 is very believable
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
I would like some stats if you have access. If not that's ok. I really think that watering down the term "sexual assault" is bad. It's the same scenario with that feminist lady who said that 1 in 4 women would be victims of sexual assault.
[–]whitechonch69 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I was thinking the exact same thing, and this is what I found; both the one in 4 stat and the 1 in 6 stat are bullshit. In reality, it's 7% of men and 11% of women.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I agree that watering down the terms 'sexual assault' and even 'rape' to include unwanted kisses or drunk sex is something that needs addressed. It's made pretty much everybody a sexual assaulter and rapist. It's just that couples don't generally report each other when they've had sex after a night out.
But they could.
Is attempting to hold a woman's hand sexual assault yet?
[–]Murgie 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I agree that watering down the terms 'sexual assault' and even 'rape' to include unwanted kisses or drunk sex is something that needs addressed.
By all means, why don't you tell /u/WickedClassy a little bit more about that?
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Intentionally getting somebody paralytic or giving them drugs to induce a coma and having sex with them is completely different from two people getting drunk and having sex. The kind of drunk where you can't remember anything is extreme, but well done you for using the apex fallacy.
Contact sports should be illegal too because I don't like watching people behead each other with chainsaws.
[–]WickedClassy 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I get what you're saying. I think there might have been a misunderstanding of what you meant.
I THINK you're referring to instances where, for example, two intoxicated, but still conscious and coherent, adults have consensual sex, but the next morning, one of the adults has an "oh shit I just cheated" moment and, instead of accepting the guilt and consequences of poor judgement, that person decides to call last night's consensual sex "rape".
If I'm correct in thinking that's more what you were referring to, then I agree and consider that situation entirely different than my neighbor's son's.
With that said, I believe it's the fear of people assuming that it was actually just regretted sex vs. the raping of an unconscious kid, that kept him from saying anything about it.
Those who publicly define rape as any sexual act that's regrettable are actually causing a lot of additional pain and suffering for the victims of actual unconsenting rape crimes. Imagine how belittling that must feel as a real victim of rape to be compared to people that had sex and later decided it was a bad idea.
It's all a bit nauseating to think about... I can't even imagine what it must be like to actually be a victim.
Yes, that's what I am saying. With the cases I've read the catalyst for it being portrayed as rape can also be association with feminists gripped with rape culture hysteria. Amongst many other reasons. A cheat shield being one of them.
Last year's UK report into Violence Against Women and Girls had males sexually assaulted by females count as "women and girls" for the stats, because sexual assault has been defined by feminists as part of the male oppressor/female victim fantasy they have. I can't imagine the lack of empathy required for this.
But such is feminism. The influential kind, not the dictionary one that the compliant majority of the minority of feminists in our society apparently subscribe to.
I couldn't agree more.

https://imgoat.com/uploads/9f0f895fb9/7685.jpg
How is that different than this? 3rd highest post all time on here.
Lemme break it down. People have historically never given a shit about male rape victims, and now we're starting to realize, hey men get raped too we should get some awareness about this. Which is why it is worth bringing up that X percentage of men get raped/assaulted too, because people aren't aware of it.
Now the link you posted about homelessness. Homelessness has always been about homeless PEOPLE. not homeless men or homeless women. And that article in the picture is trying to draw attention and sympathy to the fact that a quarter of homeless people are women, completely disregarding that that has to mean the other percentage is men. In the case of rape/sexual assault, everyone is already aware of the shit women go through, this is bringing attention to, hey don't forget about us guys we need help too. No one has ever campaigned about the plight of homeless men so why is the article trying to draw all of the attention to the women when men suffer more? For that matter. Why is it even a competition in the first place? Why not just try and combat ALL homelessness or ALL cases of rape/sexual assault.

Sometimes they're funny. This one wasn't funny.
One of the purposes that humor serves is as a deflation valve for tension, helping to take the gravity out of a subject. It's the same reason we lampoon politicians we don't like.
Yes, absolutely many of them are low quality and gross, but the mind requires a release valve even more on more serious subjects.
[–]R_Lupin -4 points-3 points-2 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Those stats aren't accurate where I'm from, I don't know a single male that's ever been sexually assaulted or raped, it may happen somewhere but it's certainly not 1 in 6 here
[–]mobile_mute 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Were you on a high school sports team (especially lacrosse, wrestling, or football), in a fraternity, or in the military? There's a lot of hazing out there that qualifies as sexual assault, even if the perpetrator didn't intend for it to be sexual and victims don't perceive it that way.
I have no firsthand knowledge of it, but the theater and band crowds report similar problems with crotch-grabbing and exposing.
If you're not involved in group activities or situations with shared locker/bathrooms it's plausible you've never witnessed it, but otherwise odds are on you've seen someone pantsed, paddled, cup-checked, slapped with a flaccid member, fondled, groped, exposed to a bare-ass-in-face fart, etc.
That's just the stuff that people won't always consider sexual. Add in sexual groping from members of both sexes, and the only way you've genuinely never seen anything of the sort is if you grew up around wonderful and virtuous human beings or you're an unattractive loner. Most of that stuff gets brushed off as horseplay or hazing or typical locker room bullshit and people don't always realize it's wrong.
Its a lack of reporting issue. Men could report being raped and just be told he should have fought back, or told that he should be thankful that he got laid or something.
[–]the3count 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Are the males you know just going to come up to you and be like yo dude I was raped/assaulted? Firstly I don't even know of many girls that do that and secondly it's even less likely that a man would admit to something like that because people like you exist that will just brush it off
[–]R_Lupin 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I don't just brush anything off, if someone told me it happened to them I'd take it seriously, the problem is them not reporting it
Do you know every bit of history of every single person in your community? People don't tend to wear a sign around their neck.
