This image means that by choosing a word like "egalitarian" while actively rejecting a title like "feminist" suggests that you are NOT really interested in equality. If you're not trying to help women with their own gendered issues as well as anyone else who faces problems because of their gender identity, how can you even really be an egalitarian? Women and transgender people face some of the worst discrimination because of their gender identities (especially trans people, holy shit), everyone who is passionate about achieving the goal of gender equality needs to work for their causes too. Because "egalitarian" people who reject the title of feminist don't seem to want to help women with their gendered problems and I almost never see MRAs of any kind talk about the problems trans people have (unless they're trans men), it appears that they're only interested in supporting men's issues, which is why the other person would use the word "patriarchal". If a person is in favor of "equality" for men AND ONLY MEN but isn't interested in resolving problems for women or anyone else, they are not egalitarian, they are patriarchal because they only want to help men maintain their status quo of unequal social power.

If you are working to help men's issues but never women's, you are NOT for equality. If you want to call yourself an egalitarian, if you want to say you are for equality, you have to be open to helping other people with their issues too. And if you're one of those folks who actively hates people for trying to help achieve equality for women, then fuck you. How could actively fighting equality be "egalitarian"? Call yourself an egalitarian all you want though, I don't mind. Just actually support equality when you do so.

Alternatively, just be honest and don't call yourself "egalitarian" when you're really only interested in men's issues. I think you could call yourself a "men's rights activist" without anyone realizing that you're only using that terminology because "egalitarian" is completely wrong and you have no interest in achieving equality for all.
