25 years ago my (50, M, white, if it makes a difference) ex wife came at me with a knife in a drunken rage, so I called the cops. I’ll never make that mistake again.

They could her her attacking me in the background on the 911 call. She managed to gash my forearm with the knife (28 stitches) I dropped the phone (landline) to defend myself, grabbed her arm and twisted it until she dropped the knife, shoved her by the arm and throat away from me, and locked myself in the bedroom.

When I hear the cops pull up, I open the door and slip out the only door to the apartment before she notices. I’m walking over to the cop car, trying to stop the bleeding from my arm.

The officers draw their weapons yelling stop right there, hand up, on your knees, and next thing I know I’m face down in the parking lot with my hands cuffed behind my back. One officer stayed with me, while the other one went to make sure my wife was OK.

After calming her down, and listening to her side of the story for 45 minutes, the officer came down and told the other officer to release me. Only then did the call me an ambulance and send me to the hospital to take care of my arm.

The officers met me at the hospital to give me the forms to make a statement, and told me I’d need to find somewhere else to stay for the night, since my wife was drunk and couldn’t leave the apartment in her condition.

It's so gross and so vile it makes me sick. You can't watch anything without a part where a girl kicks (punches, stomps, etc) a male in the testicles. It's prevalence actually communicates so much how men are actually viewed and valued by society.

To tack into your points, I've been hit by most girlfriends -one very seriously and then she pushed me out of her car and left me stranded somewhere. I was kicked in the groin by a girl once in high school as a "joke" but thankfully her foot missed my testicles and only caught where the thigh meets the perineum.

They know the power they have. I am so lucky i was smart enough to secretly record the conversation. She even said

"Nobody will believe you over me"

Which was scary because its probably the truth. I'd be screwed in a he said / she said scenario

I was sexually assaulted by my ex girlfriend last year, not a lot of positivity from family til I had to explain the situation to them for the 4th time really. I was in a relationship with another girl at the time as well which made it a much harder situation, my ex pressured her into breaking up with me saying she'd look like a fool so she basically had no option but to leave, we spoke in January of this year and I'm seeking therapy at the moment still cannot cope, my ex is laughing about it and she won't be once I get the police involved

Couldn’t agree more on that part. I just want to enjoy watching my movies and anime, but one thing that’s impossible to avoid is the scene where a female character hits their male counterparts for no reason and is supposed to funny or empowering. There are a few where the male characters hit back, but still.

The thing with children’s cartoons is especially sickening. I for a fact have seen quite a few where it happens and I honestly wonder how the actual fuck it’s even acceptable. If it were the other way around, they’d clearly have their asses sued.

And yet, we still have feminists whining about trivial things like the designs of female characters. Such as how Batgirl’s tits are too big, how the HOTD girls’ tits are too jiggly, how Harley Quinn’s clothes are too revealing, how beach episodes in anime have girls wearing bikinis, and whatever else there is. And of course, everyone agrees with them.

Speaking of those designs, what’s even more hypocritical is that feminists see it as empowering if they dress themselves up in the very way they complain about, and whoever tells them their clothes are too revealing is a misogynist.

And yet, people still wonder why physical violence is only a male-on-female crime. Of course it’ll look like it’s only a male-on-female crime if you take only one variant seriously while normalizing the shit out of the other to the point you teach little children that it’s supposed to be funny. No wonder women who beat up men are almost always congratulated while men who beat up women aren’t ever met with any positivity.

UPDATE: Just read through this list of movies that are considered sexist. Notice a recurring pattern? One, it only contains movies that are sexist towards women. Two, a lot of them call the movies sexist for containing male-on-female violence. So why the hell isn’t female-on-male violence considered sexist or offensive, but funny?

I was never hit in the nuts by a girl because I always avoided them as a kid. But there’s this one little girl in my bus, she was at least 3 grades lower and she slapped me once because my friend asked her and I couldn’t do shit, and she began slapping me daily at the bus and I couldn’t say or do shit, Ik she’s a little girl but she’d slap me every 5 minutes in an hour long ride or something. Couldn’t hit her back, couldn’t tell my parents cause everyone in the bus warned me that if I did I’d appear weak and they’d beat me up instead of her.

I'm in Australia and worked for some years as a security guard in a hospital. Many times we were assaulted by females and when the Police arrived, their defence was pretty universally "But I'm just a girl, it can't be assault" or some variation of. Because we had video surveillance and often numerous witnesses of doctors or nursing staff, they never got away with it, but I have little doubt it would be different without the video and medical staff as witnesses. And just the fact they so easily defaulted to the idea that they couldn't be charged because they were female was disturbing.

While I have never experienced violence from any woman personally. Almost all my friends have and I am really sorry you had to go through this, it is definitely normalised and nobody stands up for men. I tell all my bros the same thing- If she thinks she has the right to hit you to get her way because you won't hit back , just end that relationship immediately.

My mom has physically, verbally/emotionally abused me. She denies ever hitting me, and acts like my dad was the only one who did. Multiple times she's told me she wishes she'd gotten an abortion as I was growing up. She's also said as much I stole her freedom by having to raise and take care of me. She's told me all men are rapists, even though I've never done anything to anyone, and I've experienced my own unwanted sexual interactions from a girl when I was in school, and never told her because I knew she wouldn't care. She feels justified in what she thinks about me and how she treats me, even though I'm her son.

My ex wife early during our dating phase once hit me. Open handed slap right across the face. We were in her kitchen horsing around and making spicy jokes at each other. I said something particularly racey...can't recall as this was over 15 years ago, but she stopped giggle, turned red and smacked the shit out of me. Despite the fact that she's 5'6" and at the time 140lbs...that shit hurt.

Without batting an eyelash I returned fire. Same level of force, but as I'm 6'4" and at the time 210lbs, mine left her on the floor clutching her face. I do recall what I said at that moment, as opposed to the joke I said that obviously offended her. I said "Don't you ever put your fucking hands on me again." I immediately grabbed my jacket and left her there. It wasn't until 2 or so hours I realized what I'd done. At that point not only was I afraid I was no longer in a relationship...but I was afraid I was gonna go to jail also. Didn't sleep a wink that night.

The next morning there's banging at my door. I'm thinking it's the cops ready to take my ass away, but alas it was her. Bruise on her face and all. As I open the door, she rushes in to hug me crying about how she was so sorry, and she didn't know what came over her. Me being young and stupid...I forgave her, and we continued seeing each other.

In hindsight 15 years later, I should have ended it with her then and there. But red flags are impossible to see when looked at through rose tinted glasses. Live, learn, never make the same mistake twice.

Why are there so many that are quick to disagree with me regarding this as an example of unfortunate repercussions from Rape Culture — accusing me of “pushing feminist propaganda” when it’s literally applicable to men being victims too??

It’s describing an environment where sexual violence is normalized and excused in the media and popular culture (just like the OP was discussing).

Examples of it include: Blaming the victim; Rape-explicit jokes; Inflating false rape report statistics; Publicly scrutinizing a victim's outfit, mental state, motives, and history; GRATUITOUS GENDERED VIOLENCE IN MOVIES AND TELEVISION ; Assuming only promiscuous women get raped; ASSUMING THAT MEN DONT GET RAPED or that only "weak" men get raped; REFUSING TO TAKE RAPE ACCUSATIONS SERIOUSLY ; Teaching people how to avoid getting raped.

my girlfriend is always like "im going to eat you!" or "hits you" what do i do guys i can't tell if shes serious or not. Its a everyday occurrence to the point im going to sleep crying wondering if today will be the day she will take actions on me. im stuck and i dont want to leave her because she has her good days but when its bad... she goes "eats your finger" and ive already lost 2 of them. everyone of my friends say "thats just normal shes not going to do anything" but what if she does? who will be laughing then? not me.

oh of course, because men are "stronger" and more "hardy" and able to take it right? is that not the same thing as assuming all women are soft feminine housewives and emotional baggage?? i dont get why we cant all get that we're all human, everyone of every gender is different, and can be an asshole, cheat, be abusive, and just a bad person. doesnt have anything to do with gender. in my opinion, yes, this subreddit is great, we need to stand up for ourselves, but also there isnt a way to solve this if both genders who stand for themselves like this dont get that we're both the same, just born with different body parts down there (which we can now change to be whatever we want.)

i just noticed a problem with myself. I sometimes jokingly say "i am going to punch you!" never doing it and seconds later explaining that i won't ever realy do it.

But it sure dosen't help to make the issue better. If i was a guy i would be i big trouble.
