has anyone else experienced this? i'm currently arguing with a few feminists about rape culture and trying to explain the difference in attitude towards male and female victims of rape and sexual assault, and for some reason, they seem to keep ranting about how women are victims more often. this has literally no relationship to the argument, yet it's very emotionally charged and i feel like they're just trying to scream over me instead of actually think about what i'm saying.

is this common or something? have i made a huge mistake by engaging these people? how can i avoid this in the future?
