I’ve called R.A.I.N.N. before, they treated me like a criminal before sending me away without any help. When I brought this up with a RAINN spokesperson who was on Reddit to seek donations, they simply sidestepped the issue. Other posters who had worked these kinds of call centers explained that the person you get routed to often has a strong personal bias.

I hope all men who need it seek help, but I caution them that they have to be extremely careful, a lot of these services will do harm to men.

I wouldn't speak too soon. If you do ring, you may find that there are some shelters, etc that only cater for women.

Despite what the other comments seem to think, I think this is a good step.

It's true that most of these hotlines probably aren't going to be keen to take male callers, but google at least having it built-in to recognize that a woman can be an initiator of domestic violence is a small but valuable step compared to their previous anti-male stance.

If a man calls the police reporting being abused physically or verbally by his wife they act like you've trivially warned them that milk has just risen 5 cents.

If a woman calls reporting abuse they quickly gather a gang of police, help each other don their super hero capes, jump in their patrol cars and hit the gas achieving breakneck speed to arrest the husband.

Strange that.

Just as women like to get one up on another woman - so do men (policemen) enjoy getting one up on another man.

Well its not because of lack of bias, they prob have a few keywords that indicates dv. Just look up “my husband shouts at me” and “my wife shouts at me”.

Google works by cross referencing, it notices the phrase “hits me” and instantly connects that with domestic abuse. With the “my x yells at me” example, it shows that people automatically connect a man yelling at his wife with domestic abuse, and thus pushes it to the top, where as they think a wife yelling at her husband isn’t as serious.

In UK, the male domestic violence charity is a feminist false flag. Their training includes biased questions to peg you as a perpetrator, ie a person with presumption of guilt and no human rights.
