If hormonal cycles were cause to get a pass on murder, men should never get any serious time for murder.

I don't care for the title "irritable male syndrome", but our hormones flux a LOT.

Men shouldn't be charged with rape and women should. It's different for men, they have more hormonal urges.

She could have said something like, "There is a legitimate mental illness at play with postpartum depression in many infanticide cases that might mitigate sentencing in those specific cases. But speaking more generally, yes, a woman should get the same sentence that a man would."

Funny how women want to blame their hormones to get away with evil shit, but then if a man says "she's just acting that way because she's on her period" (usually as a joke) he's being sexist and misogynistic

If mothers are liable to being so fucked up after birth that they can't stop themselves from murdering someone, the last place a child should be is alone with them. Perhaps children should by default stay with their fathers immediately after birth until it's known for sure that their mother isn't one of those "hormonal" women who could unintentionally murder them at any time

How about this:

Women who commit murder of any sort should be sentenced for that murder, in the same ways that men who commit murder of any sort should be sentenced. Hormonal/mental imbalance should NOT be a mitigating factor to being sentenced for murder, and neither should "motherhood" be a mitigating factor to being sentenced for murder.

Hormonal/mental imbalance should be a mitigating factor to the type of sentencing-- meaning, specifically, whether the perpetrator is remanded to a general criminal facility, or remanded to a psychiatric criminal facility.

NO hormonal/mental imbalance should be able to 'mitigate' a crime to the extent that the perpetrator is given a "free pass" for committing a crime.
And, at the very least, those who commit a crime, supposedly due to a hormonal/mental imbalance, should be enforced to obtain help for that hormonal/mental imbalance.

In NewZealand we have at least one case where a man was charged with murder but would have been charged with infanticide if he was a woman.

IIRC The man's child had a serious genetic defect when born and this cause the man to go into deep depression. The depression was diagnosed by a professional. He killed his child and was charged with murder, which has a much more severe penalty than infanticide.

It was clear that he was mentally impaired at the time of the crime but it did not reach the threshold for legal insanity.

How can it be a thing that adult women will boldly claim that adult women cannot control themselves or behave? If you're a grown up and supposedly fully capable member of society yes you have a responsibility to control yourself, you don't get a pass because feelings.

If, however, you want to claim that you have inferior ability to control yourself and should be treated like a child, then maybe you should have some responsibilities and privileges taken away, and you can't be treated as an "equal" let alone superior

Moral of the story. Keep newborn children away from their mothers until their hormones have been verified to be in acceptable, non infanticidal ranges.

Fail to do so and any baby murder can be blamed on whoever let the baby near the mother without the proper testing.

Women have hormonal differences after birthing compared to the majority if women?

Men have this difference since birth. Our testosterone isn't an excuse so their... estrogren? Progesterone? spike shouldn't excuse them.

I do have a possible solution though: don't count killing newborns as murder. Make it murder only after their first birthday. Prior to then: it is littering if you don't clean up afterwards.

This will protect emotional mothers from unjust punishments and give men who never consented to be fathers a post-conception form of reproductive control like what mothers have in abortion.
