Hello there. I am a woman but I have an opinion regarding paternity fraud. I honestly think EVERY man should have a paternity test for their child. No matter what. Even if they are married. Even if the child looks like them. We finally have the technology to eliminate the practice. There is no reason anymore why paternity should ever be in question. How do we get this to become standard and for all men to feel the need to do it?

What was the logic behind these laws in the first place?

What's really shocking is that the rate of paternity fraud is said to be about 1%... at the absolute minimum. That doesn't sound like much, but it's orders of magnitude higher than rates of murder, for example, and if you have a country of a million, 1% is 10,000.
What's really shocking to me are those cases where a man is commanded under pain of imprisonment to pay child support to a child that is demonstrably not his. I don't know how someone could say, without nuance or caveat, that we live in a patriarchy when this kind of thing happens in full compliance with the law.

Totally fair question, I should have cited my source...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paternity_fraud#Occurrence
If there are better numbers out there I'm open to hearing those, however I think it's relatively fair to say that the rate is minimum 1%.

Right, the reason I gave 1% as a floor is that one of the unreliable studies suggested that right. So I figure the 1% floor is totally fair and if you can convince people with that figure, 2.8% is just more ammo.

I think this is a step in the right direction. I would even take it a step further: putting a man's name on a birth certificate - a legal document that confers enormous obligations - should require a DNA match, or his statement before a judge (privately, in the judge's chambers with only his lawyer present) that he's willing to assume the rights and responsibilities of fatherhood in the absence of a match. Obviously no man should ever be assessed any financial obligations in the absence of one of those.
Her body - Her choice - Her responsibility.

IMO in this day and age paternity tests should be mandatory. If the expectation is for fathers, which it should be, to pay child support, then it should be the real father who is paying for their kids.
I worked with a guy a while back who a women almost convinced him he was the father of her child, he wasn't sure, but some how she got his name on the birth certificate before they left the hospital. He had a hell of a time getting he named removed from the birth certificate even after it was deemed he was not the father. I knew him when he was married to he current wife with his kids, and he was still just finishing up cleaning up the mess.
I've read a few stories in the news over the years when kids are in school learning about genetics and figure out that the man they have been calling Dad for all of their lives is really not their father. I can't even imagine what hell those kids and men go through.

Any decent woman should demand a paternity test when she gives birth, and insist that the results be sent directly to the man without him having to ask. Only a cheating whore or a female supremacist would fight against a man's right to know if a child was his, or in favor of paternity fraud.

In a lot of countries it is a crime for a man to get a paternity test without a court order (France has been that way for a couple of years), and in other countries feminists are fighting for the same. What really matters is freeing men from legal obligations if the DNA doesn't match. In the US alone there are hundreds (maybe thousands) of men paying child support for children that they and the courts know are not theirs, with jail time awaiting those who refuse to pay or even fall behind because of job loss.
In this day and age there is simply no excuse for a child to be denied knowledge of who his/her father is with scientific certainty, nor for a man to be legally obligated to assume the responsibilities of fatherhood for another man's kid unless he freely chooses to do so without coercion.
