I don't even believe every woman knows a woman that was raped. Actual rapes are quite rare, and I don't think very many women experience them, nowhere near the amount that the feminist types let on.

We live in a world where women will rally around messages and signs that show two people labeled as drunk and say SHE couldn't legally consent to sex.

And they see nothing wrong with that, no hypocrisy. Because in their minds only men can rape. It's not He Said-She Said, it's only she said.

No one looks at the logical of the so called rape culture. Supposedly a quarter of all women are raped on college campuses. No other crime Stat is that high. Yes female enrollment only continues to increase. Female led colleges increases.

So we live in a society so led by patriarchy that we lock up millions of men for all types of offenses from the minor to the worst in humanity. We go out of the way to put men behind bars.

I know three rapists. One was a guy that went to my church, he raped and murdered his neighbor then killed her husband when he came home. He was arrested and convicted and sent to prison, while in prison someone killed him.

Another was the step father of my childhood friend, he started molesting her shortly after her mom married the guy until she told me a few months later after she tried to have sex with me one night when I had stayed over and asked why I didn't try to do those things with her she was 14 and I was 12.

The other rapists is a girl I went to highschool with, I woke up late at night at a party to her on top of me and promptly blacked out again. She was gone when I woke up the next day, I said something about it to a few of my friends and found out she was known for doing that and that she had done it to one of my friends. I filed a police report and the cop just eye rolled and said something like him wishing he was that lucky at 16, nothing came of it.

It’s often a matter of perspective.

A woman can leave a sexual encounter feeling like the victim of a rape. And men can leave the same encounter feeling like they just had a consensual sexual experience.

Plus, as OP said, it’s not like there is any amount of bonding men can create by sharing, where as trauma bonding is a very valuable coping mechanism.

Rape and consent are very complex issues that are not nearly as black and white as both sides often paint them and it would behoove us all to better understand these complexities.

I know an older, female friend of the family who's been dating a guy for 9 months. She takes her sleep very seriously. She used the term "rape" to describe an interaction between the two of them: Lying in bed, he started to spoon her and fondle one of her breasts. She said, "Not now. I need to sleep." He replied, "Aw, c'mon sweetheart...." Again, she said no. This back and forth happened three times before he "got it" and stopped. He also told us what happened and admitted he was wrong and should not have done what he did. He has also agreed to go to see a therapist.

Was his behavior inappropriate? Absolutely! Has he ever forced sex on her? No. (Her daughter asked her point-blank if he'd ever forced himself on her, and she very flatly said, "No...never." Yet, she used the word "rape" when telling us about the above incident. I've also heard of many, many similar incidents between others/other couples. Does this mean rape isn't a thing? Again: absolutely not! It certainly happens and is wrong, any way you cut it, but hearing about the above incidents DOES tell me that some people perceive "rape" to be something very different from what it actually is.

If someone is a rapist, I doubt they would be going around telling people that they are a rapist, unless they are raping people and not realizing or believing they are raping people(You see this a lot in women who rape men). I really don't think people who commit crimes would just go around incriminating themselves and spewing evidence that would be used against them. A man going around telling his "friends" that he's committed rape would also not keep his friends and quickly end up in jail(which would quickly impede his ability to make friends).

It's also certainly possible that some women would fabricate circumstances or present themselves as rape victims, even when they are not. There would be an incentive for women to victimize themselves and malign men, as this would fall into a popular narrative of male vilification.

I've heard people say "everyone knows someone affected by the opioid epidemic" despite the fact that many people don't know anyone who was affected. The same is true with every other crime.

There's a serious discussion to be had about how threats against abusers prevents them from opening up about and expressing the abuse they've perpetuated. It's in survivors best interests that abusers be able to talk about the abuse they've perpetuated, rather than causing abusers to fear opening up for fear of punishment. I hope to see an open forum in the future where abusers and survivors are able to talk with one another, so that we can understand that normal human beings become abusers, and focus on a discussion where we can get to the root causes of abuse and learn how to teach future generations how not to abuse.

I came to the Men's Rights sub-Reddit to discuss primarily circumcision and to have a place where men's rights issues can be discussed with compassion--and unfortunately, my experience thus far has been that this forum is mostly reserved for feelings of indignation, and is more so an anti-women's rights forum than it is a men's rights forum. I don't think that every issue should be seen as an opportunity to diminish women (in light of our learned and/or perceived vindication of women)--but rather as an opportunity to discuss the issue at hand with authenticity and with an interest in equal rights and fairness all around.
