Next time ask them for examples. Throughout it was based on their perceptions and bias, it wasn't rooted in facts. If you can move it from perception to reality that always helps.

But remember this is Reddit, at its core it's a social media site. Maybe suggest (assuming they are of age) to search Reddit's nsfw for CNC. That might really change their viewpoint and expand their thoughts.

I think you are right. There are many PG rated comedies that turn murder into humor, and action movies meant to make people applaud depictions of mass murder (typically of men). In many murder shows, the murderer is depicted as the hero. We never see that with rape. There is a huge cultural difference between the depiction of these two crimes.

When the man is a victim in sexual assault cases and typically a woman is involved it's like that South Park episode. It's horrible and it's socially accepted by vast majority of people. I knew at least three people murdered in my home country, and knew lots of people who died of disease or natural causes, and I can still find murder and death jokes funny.

IMO, this is pretty clearly someone trying to rationalize their personal feelings with ad-hoc rescues.

No, you're obviously not wrong. Rape of women has always been considered a terrible crime. Sexual assault of any kind against women hasn't been treated as a joke in media for decades. Except if the joke is poking fun at 'old timey beliefs' or some other satire.

Sexual assault of men is played for jokes in contemporary shows and movies all the time. In culture, prison rape is malevolently delighted in conceptually all the time.

Many women online have been radicalized over the last 10-15 years. Like all radicals, they have knee jerk emotional responses to certain words and concepts regardless of the content or context of the discussion. Their facts are all wrong but they never check them and when given them they rationalize them away with cognitive dissonance. They may agree on the facts but 'weight' them all irrationally.. downplaying extreme prejudice towards outgroups while making mountains out of much smaller issues in the in group. Hate is blinding.

I think a lot of women who are assaulted report that they don’t feel taken seriously. I respect that and believe that. I just think it’s harder for men and we’re treated worse. Please keep in mind even if some women do have the world stop for them when they report sexual assault (real or false), there are many who suffer and aren’t treated well. This isn’t a 0 sum issue IMO. Worse for men, but everyone deserves to feel hear.

Regardless if it is a man or woman victims are treated like shit. Victims of abuse, rape, any crime really. Idk why or what is wrong with people to make them take the aggressors side, but they do. I can’t tell you how many time people sympathized with my parents even though I was literally talking about my mom throwing stuff at me.

I do agree that men are almost always dismissed except for the rare cases. With women they are more likely to be listened too. It also matters what gender the aggressor was. People are biased and selfish. Most people don’t care about other people’s issues. That is a sad truth about this world that I have only been just starting to accept this past year.

Either way society treats victims like garbage. I want it to stop, it’s not okay. I don’t think that is in my control though😔.

The sad part is, both are treated as fucking jokes but in different ways. Now before I get jumped by everyone, humour me for a second.

When a guy is SA'ed it's treated as "All men want sex, so is it really assault?", "He got r*ped by a woman?? HA! If it were me, I would've just decked her", or something along the lines which is blatantly missing the point of it all.

On the other hand (and trust me, I have seen this way more than I would like to have), women's SA is treated as "She shouldn't have been out so late", "Maybe she deserved it" (I have heard this irl and it still makes me peevish as fuck), "What was she wearing".

Oh and to top it all off, both sides have their unfair share of victim blaming bastards or the people that straight up dismiss the issue. It really shouldn't sit right with people to: A. Completely neglect sexual assaults against men and dismiss them as something they wanted, B. Blame the victim for what happened, C. Ostracize the victim for being SA'ed and D. Blame women for their lifestyle choices just because some dastardly people cannot control their urges.
