I’ve noticed a growing trend in churches where pastors seem to shame or guilt single men, especially those who aren’t married yet or don’t have families. Jordan Peterson actually spoke on this, on how churches ignore the real struggles men face in today’s world, while turning around and telling men that they’re “the problem.”

Even in churches that claim to be traditional, a lot of the messaging toward men is about sacrifice, “serve your family,” “lead like Christ,” “take responsibility.” Which is fine, that’s part of the Christian model for manhood. But I rarely hear sermons telling women to reflect the church’s relationship to Christ with the same level of intensity or accountability.

As nice as it would be to find a woman who actually shares the same values, commitment, faith, loyalty, humility, it honestly feels like finding a needle in a haystack.

Curious to hear from both the religious and non-religious men here:

Have you noticed this same attitude in churches (or similar institutions)?

Why do you think single men are being shamed instead of supported?
