Something to think about is if you want to have children, and if you do, how you want your children's lives to line up with yours. If you marry and have children in your mid-30s, you will be in your early or mid-50s when they turn 18, and in your mid to late 50s when those children finish a 4-year school.

You can generalize the thought too: It makes sense to think about what your motivations for getting married are, check to see whether getting married is actually going to get you those things, and if it is, consider how you want to schedule those things in with other aspects of your life.

If marriage is something you want, you should go for it. Waiting until your 30s is not a bad idea - I actually think it’s smarter in the long run. People who get married later are statistically a LOT less likely to get divorced.

My question for you is - why would you go after a woman in her early 20s as opposed to a woman who is 25+? A lot of woman in their early 20s aren’t looking to settle down and that age gap is going to hinder your ability to connect with them on an emotional/intellectual level.

One positive is that by having a kid in your 20s means they're grown up by your late 40s, which frees you up to do other shit because you've already checked the dad box and secured your legacy.

I'll be 50 when my youngest goes off to college since I started at 28. By that time I'll be at the peak of my power as a man -- socially, financially. And if I stay fit and healthy, I'll be better than 99% of my peers physically and sexually.

I guess the main benefit would be having someone that you have a lot of shared memories with that stuck by you on your journey as you grew and became more successful.

If that isn't important to you then you're probably right to follow the advice the other guys told you. For most guys, it's probably bad to postpone getting a serious partner as their options do decline but I do believe men that meet women's definitions of being HV are more rare and valuable than women who meet mens standards so that gives you more bargaining power than most women and most men. Just make sure you don't lose your hair or get a beer belly between now and then.

Waiting until your 30s gives you a boost. These attractive women your with now are good but when you’re tired of her after 7 years and you’re interested in the younger 20s woman, you now have to either divorce your current wife and lose up to half your assets or try to finagle an open relationship.

Being single will allow you to focus on your business more and being tied down will hurt your business potentially because you’ll be much more risk averse.

The benefit of being in a relationship for average people is companionship too. But they also benefit from the dual income to be able to raise kids as well as pay bills while still being able to save. Successful men and woman can do that on their own so even if that comes with marriages it’s not really a benefit they needed.

I think it comes down to your own personal goals and what you derive meaning from. I’m not as successful as you but I am pretty successful and I’ve been thinking of settling down myself. The key is to find the right person, but in my mind you need to have a high level of awareness and emotional intelligence to make things work smoothly. Same goes for you partner.

One thing to gain would be that you could in theory have kids at a younger and enjoy them more while you have a lot of energy. I always like to do the math of how old I would be when my potential kids turn 18. That gives you a sense of where you’d think you’ll have more “freedom” again.

There’s also something to the ballsy move of committing to something forever. Most people can’t commit to anything these days. Mad respect for my happily married guy friends.

it’s interesting because i debated on making a post like this in a different subreddit and now reading it, i feel smaller and irrelevant. i’m a successful & average looking girl, i thought i was having trouble finding a husband because everything felt bleak and pointless. i took up a variety of hobbies after a break up, etc etc. the fact that you posted on here kinda shows ur relying on external validations, and kinda reminded me that i still rely on them too but life is so much more pleasurable when you kinda chill on that mindset.

now, i realized honestly having fun and putting energy into my relationships is the most fulfilling thing i can do. i stopped caring about how much more successful i was than others. or what others bring to the table. and i started to just accept people as they are and live how i want.

you get what you want & put in out of life. if u want a family, have one. stop giving a fuck about other people’s opinions.

My advice - only marry a woman if she's on you level economically or you have more than 5M in net assets. At around 5M, you can still live a very comfortable life if she ends up taking half of the assets you accumulate during the marriage and you have to pay child support. If you don't have more than 5M in net assets, then either restrict your serious dating to women at your level or plan to not marry.
