The problem men face is the vast majority aren't either physically or financially attractive to women. The problems women face is that they don't find many men dateable and they're not interested in the guys that are interested in them.

Anecdotally, I've known enough men to say this isn't a society issue. Its a fear of looking weak in front of women issue. There is this term I'm heard called "trauma dumping" where women complain that their husband or boyfriend is being too emotional or talking about his problems too much. There is no fine line of when your venting becomes too much so for many guys it's better to stay quiet. Additionally, I've seen some women (mostly feminists) claim that women are already doing too much to address and support men's emotional needs which is shocking giving how stoic a lot of men are. It does seem like a lot of women really get turned off my men bing emotional or looking weak. Many women are mature enough to deal with it, but a lot aren't. Even in my own family I have to say the older women are pretty disinterested in even hearing their own sons be emotionally open. (forget their husbands).

I could address all of these point by point for men and women, each of them contain some truth but one bullet point isn't enough to really delve into the complexities of them. I think a major problem with modern dating not addressed is that in via online dating you are in a very large pool and how gender skewed it is with most people on the apps being men. That can be both overwhelming in terms of processing so many options and also frustrating with all the competition.

As for men, I think financial position and physical attractiveness are valid. I don’t like the phrasing though. It’s not that “men feel pressured”, those are real problems imo. Dating dynamics is a valid thing too imo. Without a general standard it is difficult to appear not too disinterested and not too pushy.

As for women, I think women don’t have problems with “regular” dating. Safety and objectification are real problems, but they fall into the category of irregular experiences. I mean, I know I may be mugged, but I don’t consider it a “problem I face”. If there was a 30% probability of me being mugged every day, I’d say it was a problem I encounter.

i think we generally forget just how much riskier dating is for women compared to men. in addition to higher likelihood of safety issues from a date, there’s also the threat of pregnancy/career risks/permanent health risks/life-threatening risks, and a higher likelihood of social policing around sexuality/slut shaming, all for a lower likelihood of reward in orgasms and serious relationships (@ the “men gatekeep relationships” crowd). those would be my only additions to the women’s list; men’s pretty comprehensively covers my (second hand) perspective

Going to reference each point via acronyms. Men’s SE, BI, EE, FE, SE, and women’s GS, BIP all pretty much just relate to gender norms/stereotypes. Both men and women face antiquated norms but I’m glad ChatGPT lists a ton for men because I feel like the antiquated norms men face don’t receive a lot of attention and are often ignored or rationalized away by women and we end up with normalized terms like “economically unmarriageable men”.

Hot take #2: Sexualization is just a term invented to pathologize male physical attraction. Why does a man finding you sexually attractive, a very natural and normal biological phenomenon, make you so uncomfortable? You’re probably (A) threat profiling him per the above or (B) you have some deep rooted hatred of men or sex that you should unpack in therapy. I mean no wonder men are “reducing you” to your physical appearance, they don’t know anything about you yet. You have to get out and experience with people. Wow ChatGPT knows more than most of the garbage content posted on this sub. Whether it’s from the red pill, blue pill or delusion pill. Societal improvement for men will require women to change. I don’t know why every single post on this sub suggests men need to change for the 1000th time.

You can say men need to shower or lose the damn weight, it’s true, but that’s marginal at best. Just swapping 4 Brad and 5 Brad’s place on the totem pole. Real change comes from women and their expectations.

Everything you wrote is fair and realistic. But I think he might be upset you that seem to put the women in the spotlight in these scenarios which is totally valid in many cases since guys can be like this but something you have to consider in 2024 especially men are more emotionally intelligent most of the men I know are considerate and take care of their partner via helping them, taking care of them cleaning with them. We have to let this simpsons dad drink beer lazy mindset go, men and women should do better and women especially need to let go of this mindset that men are the enemy. Another thing to consider is that man is doing what he thinks is right as that’s how he’s been shaped his whole life with women and men around him he doesn’t know another scenario so instead of being pissy with him (both genders can be this) explain to him calmly what the relationship needs to look like to continue to work. I have modern women in my life who should me some of the concepts I had wrong. I was also under the impression men should not help around the household or it’s insulting the women’s role but I have let that go and see it’s a joint effort but in my whole life experience (could also be echo effect) I keep meeting such horribly shallow women who refuse to give up any ground where I fall into the camp that they are the problem so I look to learn and improve my view through here. Hear both parties. Something I picked up quite early on is man equals bad, which I never understood why women propagate. Again all the men I have encountered (I might be lucky) have been great fathers and good men and respectful towards their wives, this doesn’t mean bend over when she asks him to be how she wants but contributing to making sure life is livable for their family. Women have taken up this hill and want the whole mountain with their list of icks and men can only be wrong and I’m sad to say I only see men being at the loosing end these days. The absolute worst thing you can do to a man is belittle him by pushing this women are wonderful at all times and the man was the issue waste. Especially because women will constantly voice their concerns and needs but men will take the blow as we are taught to do. I don’t know when men you have encountered but I have seen the men in my life take all the noise and continue to do what they need to do.

The guy part seems right to me. Theres a lot of pressure physically, financially, emotionally, if we express any concerns we’re labeled insecure or something.

It’s a lot of mental anguish and the consensus from society seems to be “deal with it”. We’re kinda left to navigate through a lot alone.
