I have never pretended to be someone I am not.

However in high school at one point I did pretend to have a girlfriend and completely made her up to make the actual girl I liked jealous. Like in other words my so called girlfriend was an imaginary person who’s name I just made up, made up every detail about her, etc.

Yeah it’s pretty cringe looking back but it was the phase I went through high school where both the girl and I liked each other but were too afraid/insecure to say it or make the first move so we both just played this sort of Cold War of jealousy. However a year after this we got into a relationship that lasted for half a year.

So I have “catfished” in terms of having an imaginary girlfriend.

A long time ago I made this phony online profile with a pic of a handsome guy just to see how it was vs. my “average guy” profile. Girls sent me all sorts of crazy “you seem like a great guy lets hook up lmk” messages and a few nudes. It blew my mind.

After that I deleted all my online profiles until I lost weight lol.

I’ve never done it. I think cat fishing is more about lying about age than flat out it’s a different person.

For example there are guys in their 30’s who put pics of themselves from their 20’s when they weren’t balding and were much slimmer. They know if they put a current picture they would have no chance lol.

Yes. Did a tinder experiment with the wife, we both made an opposite sex account. I got 50 plus matches in less than an hour as an average female, she got 3 as an average man. I invited several of the guys over, and all said yes. My wife didn't get any replies. I laughed and she was flabbergasted. She didn't believe me that this would happen. Good times.

No, but it is a really common thing for girls to do. Usually it's the pics she's using are years old, or all makeup+filtered to the point it's not even recognizable as the same person.

Personally, the worst one was a girl I agreed to go meet at a park to day date hike/picnic together. Not sure how long it had been since she had ever hiked... but it was allegedly her regular, "stomping ground" that she wanted to show me.

Got there, she was at least twice the size as she looked on her photos, and had a walking stick that saved her life b/c she was not cut out for the trail she had planned for us. I was legitimately concerned I was going to have to try to help her get out of there like she was a wounded soldier. Was not sexy, or romantic, or anything remotely cute of a first date.

So lesson learned.. day hiking dates/picnics are a good idea for a first meet, see what kind of shape you are actually working with, and about to sign on for.

Edit: I've learned if every pic is from neck/shoulders up, and from a looking down at her camera angle.. she's a big girl. That's the go to angle for them to master, to cover up their roundness.

As a swinger I got accused of it once, we had photos on vacation and those were our profile photos, they met us spur of the moment like 3 months later and we were packing all night before because we were moving, so I guess we looked really tired.

I’ve never intentionally catfished anyone before. But there was one time I was at the gym and this guy came up to me who looked vaguely familiar. He told me we had matched on Tinder some time ago and he thought I was a catfish but was glad to see I looked how I did in real life lol.

I’d already been dating my now husband for a month at that time so no follow ups came of this interaction.

No, I'm overweight and I'd hate if anyone got the wrong impression of me. It's one of my biggest fears, so I always include unflattering pictures on my profile, and never too flattering pictures.

I've been complimented when they meet me. Guys often say I look better than in my pictures. On the other hand, I've been catfished by 3 different guys.

I once took I picture I found by searching for "bro selfie", and used that as my Tinder photo, just to see what would happen. Lots of hits, most I didn't speak to, but I just happened to start a conversation with this one girl and I let her know quickly what I was doing.

What's funny is that the "bro selfie" profile got another text from someone I had talked to as my actual self on another dating site, so I also texted her to let her know the deal. She thought it was hilarious.

No, but I've been catfished plenty (girl with decent pics, the person who I meet physically looks nothing like that profile). That's why nowadays I straight up ask the woman to send me pictures in a unique stance or holding something unique.

Generally speaking, avoid women who only have closeup photos or photos within a group of people. They're hiding something (usually they're fat or unattractive), and are trying to cajole high worth men into seeing them, although I wouldn't give an ugly woman the time of the day, especially if she tried that shit on me.

Worst thing I've had from women is lying about having kids. Even to this day I'm getting past matches from Tinder show up in my friend suggestions on Facebook with pictures of kids, despite claiming not to have any.

I made an okcupid account when I was 12 so I could do the sex quizzes. I used some random picture of a woman off Google since you had to have a photo. Didn’t actually talk to anyone on there thankfully. Also I had one of those emo roleplay accounts on Twitter when I was 14, only for like a day or two and then I forgot about it. I don’t know if that counts as cat fishing. It’s super cringey though.
