I've always read Sigmas like introverted men who don't really need the company of other men, but that still have the looks and the skills to attract women. So they're still Alphas in that they have more sexual attraction qualities than Beta comfort qualities, but they just choose not to keep the company of other men that often because, as introverts, they don't need to.

I knew one dark and broody guy in high school who constantly had a different girlfriend that I'd call a Sigma, but he's the only one I can think of. Most introverted males come across as more Beta or Omega to me.

Not a big fan of Sigma as a category. It seems to denote nothing much more than "Introverted Alpha's".

I just don't see where it fits in. For sure most AFs and ABs are extroverted, but there is nothing in those categories that specifies they have to be. Sigma male just seems like an attempt to explain something that doesn't really need explanation.... and as other commenters have noted it's used by otherwise Omega/Beta males to excuse themselves and pretend everything is OK for them, so it's often downright harmful.

What exactly do you think is missing from AF or AB that sigma explains ? AFs commonly don't do well with other men too.

i dont really think sigma male is a thing, but it has to be acknowledged that there are attractive hot men who get laid who are not super normie Chad captain of the football type. i dont think another category besides alpha was the answer, just some distance from the extremely limiting Chad concept

This sounds exactly like my type in high school, back when I was a dorky teen with low self esteem I would always get crushes on that one guy who would always be alone or the quietest one within a group of people, given that I already found physically attractive of course.The thing about the quiet guy is that you can plaster over any sort of romantic fantasy you want on him.

He could be dark and brooding.

He could be a closet romantic.

He could be observant and pensive.

Or really funny and nice but just too shy to show it.

It's the ultimate fantasy for the shy and awkward because you get to dream about being the one to open them up and find out. 'He's always so lonely, maybe I should keep him company' *flutters eyelashes*,ugh.

Men in large groups can often come off as intimidating and, sorry, a bit boorish, so when women see a man not participating in this like other men we find it interesting, some of us find it more interesting than others. But just because a guy isn't as out going or doesn't have many friends doesn't mean he isn't a lad or doesn't do "dumb guy stuff" from time to time, it doesn't mean he's particularly smart or deep. I learned this the hard way, guys like that are just people.

Sigma males absolutelly exist as in males that are basically anti-social / rejected but alpha enough to gather interest by his attributes.

Bad boys, metalheads, punks and other "manly" cultures could very well fall within these categories.

Isn't sigma males just high value men who don't play the social status game and don't really care that much about bitches and can't be roped in by their female shenanigans? I guess emotionally distant is part of it. But high value is essential. Being a loner because you have no social skills and prefer to play WoW 15 hours a day is not sigma. That's omega.

As much as I like the notion of "sigma male" the term again falls into a lack of clear meaning and often because it package deals "leader of men" and "crusher of puss."

Redpill typically defines alphaness as traits sexually attractive to the typical woman on a primal "MY OVARIES ARE THROBBING" level. This doesn't mean you'll have other men thinking highly of you.

The "ladies man" type? Oooohhh the buff "mans man" types hate the "ladies' man." They see him as kind of effeminate in some ways, perhaps a bit too "pretty" and waaaaay too successful with women for their own liking (i.e. too much competition). They often hate him and don't respect him much.

Not that he cares since he's too busy nailing the latest hot piece of ass.

[Digression... I'm wondering if this dynamic... the resentment of some men towards the ladies' man types... is kind of a natural attempt to force the 'alpha' (in this case the Ladies' Man type) to share a bit... perhaps a dynamic meant to prevent one top man getting absolutely all the pussy? That's another topic of course...]

By the same token the grizzled old type doesn't necessarily nail every woman in sight but other men respect him.

I think a lot of this division comes from the fact that the male idea of hypermacho looks a bit different from the female idea of the perfect hot guy. For a simple visual reference, the typical woman wants Gambit from X-Men, but most men would think of Wolverine or Colossus as more manly.

Do these "romance novel" classic loner-alpha types exist? Fuck yes. As does the older, gruffer "leader-of-men" type who isn't fucking every woman in a six mile radius.

But for sexual strategy purposes, why does the distinction really matter? The archetype which most women find sexually attractive on a primal level is the issue. Being a "leader of men" is only relevant if and to the extent that it secures access to sex. And it probably does to a substantial degree in many situations but it doesn't seem necessary so long as a woman finds a particular guy charismatic... he doesn't have to go beat up some nerd in the bar in order to make her panties moisten.

Roving polymath/web personality Vox Day has a lot to answer for. When his books and blogs and schemes are long forgotten, men on the internet will still be calling themselves "Sigmas" to general mockery

It's too bad that this concept was the only part of VD's "sociosexual hierarchy" to gain traction outside of the STEM-christian nerd-o-sphere. The idea of "gamma" was more original, useful and amusing.

"Sigma" is pretty obviously something VD came up with to describe himself when he found that he didn't fit in any of his own categories. He as good as says "I'm the only one."

Sigma males are natural born Alphas whose development were somehow stopped by probably some trauma in their childhood. E.g. in the childhood people did treat them as betas and punish for their natural Alpha behaviours. Sigma blames the "system" for their childhood situation. They don't want to be part of the system and at the same time they naturaly behave as and want to be the Alphas in the system (same system they hate). They have cognitive believes "I'm Alpha" and "Im uncomfortable being Alpha" at the same time. Those undeveloped Alphas enjoy all benefits of being Alpha and at the same time avoid being Alpha. As I mentioned being Alpha is mentally uncomfortable state for Sigmas. They would like to have power without being powerful, have a lot of money but not reach, be leader without people who follow them etc. Lone Wolf. Best example I find is Mad Max character

How does he not do so well with other men? Is it jealousy? Is he an absolute asshole in a way that only women would accept?

If it's the asshole one, I'd consider him over the top alpha. If it's jealousy, I'd probably need more details on this sigma man.
