I've been ruminating on this topic since a discussion I had with another user about "natural submission" maybe a week or so ago.

  1. For those who subscribe to women "submitting" (Captain /Fo style) in relationships, what factors do you think compel a woman to submit?

  2. Rather, do you think a woman should be "inspired" into "natural deference"; or do you think she should default defer to her male mate even if she's more competent/ he's not capable? If yes, what is your reasoning for why a woman should submit to a C/Fo style relationship where she is or has become the naturally competent one across the board? An aside, I would say competence is circumstantial and relative to the stakes and tasks at hand -- not an absolute.

The other user (comments now deleted), seemed to bristle that mine and another user's notion of "submission" was in their opinion not submission, but "conditional" “female whimsy" -- me and the other user posited that most men and women only feel compelled to submit freely when certain conditions are met.

They seemed to subscribe to bullet 2. That submission shouldn't be inspired, that it should be default granted to the man?

They never explained why they felt that way.

If you agree with them, please help me understand it. I'm genuinely interested and could be convinced methinks.

That said, I can't think of an example where submission or deference that isn't earned isn't met with resentment and eventually mutiny of some sort - regardless of gender, class, position, era, circumstance, etc.
