The guy I find attractive. I’ve been with men I wasn’t really attracted to before in the hope that the attraction would grow over time and it never did. It’s miserable being in a relationship with someone you aren’t attracted to.

I DID marry the first. He doesn't work minimum wage anymore but he did when we met. I don't think it's right to factor income into relationships with men. If I want money, I can go out and make money. Men aren't put on this earth to pay for us.

I'll take guy no 1. You said that personalitywise they're both good for me, so I assume the man is still very smart, but has current job for whatever reason. A math professor who said screw it, I can't deal with stupid people anymore and became a carpenter or something ;)

It's certainly easier to say knowing I could afford to make for the wage difference and still have nice vacations/home/food. Not as nice as 2x my income, but nowhere near the misery of 2x minimum wage. On the other hand, If I were poor as well, that would give me even less ground to hold it against him.

As for FSM, I don't doubt this choice would be met with some riddicule, gossip, accusing me of being sugarmum etc.

Neither. First man would be better if he made no money because he’s a student or writing a novel or something. I can’t think of a minimum wage job he could have that would make sense in my world/circles.

Seems like an attempt to ferret out what is more important. Money or looks. Going for looks seems to be the more noble response in this case. Better to admit that physical attraction is a thing than that you are in it for the money. To get closer to the truth I think you have to come at it more indirectly.

Let’s say my husband died last year and I was looking to start dating. I would date the really hot guy, and I wouldn’t marry either of them. I’d just want to have some fun.

If he were like a server or a bartender or some other grown up job (not McDonald’s), that would be fine. As long as he could afford to take care of himself, because I certainly don’t make enough for two people.

He would fit in better with my primary social circle because a lot of them are heavy drinkers with flexible schedules. If he’s hot and cool and can get drunk on a Wednesday, he’s fit right in.

Going to go against the crowd and say the second guy. Looks don’t matter much to me unless he is straight up unattractive/obese/unhygienic. The more attractive guy will have more opportunities to cheat, and also probably won’t be as attracted to me as the average guy. I want to feel desired, not settled for. As far as the job goes, for the most part I don’t care as long as he lives in his means and is able to plan for the future. Either of those guys could be struggling with debt which would make them an unattractive option. It is a bonus though if he can afford a similar lifestyle that I do with my salary. Dating someone who can never leave the house because they have absolutely no discretionary income wouldn’t be much fun.

First, mainly because I'm young and my social circle expects that and assuming this guy is the same age as me, he won't be working a minimum wage job forever. If I was like 30, I would consider the second guy.

I can take care of myself financially, if that wouldnt be the case I would rather invest in education than looking for man with a good job.

It wouldn't matter one bit to me: If I were to get married I would marry outside of shared property and address and consequently it would be little more than a legal label.

I would not have to like, or even know the other individual; it would be a document that says that we are married that is worth very little outside of symbolism. If I am force to pick one of both in this hypothetical then it's completely irrelevant whatsoever with what individual altogether I get married because if the only required condition is that we get married I will arrange everything so that we are married in the legal sense only and it becomes paper and nothing more.

ETA - you should also factor age into this. I'm in my 40s and have dated enough min wage losers. My family is full of engineers and I work in tech myself and enjoy geeking out.

While I would pick the more stable guy if he has sex appeal, it's not for betbux reasons. In fact I'll prob still be making more than him but it will be much closer incomes .

Probably one, if he has a personality that matches mine then I would hope he would want more in the future then minimum wage.

But there isn't really enough info, because if say he wasn't interested in doing more with his life and just wanted to work at McDonald's his whole life it wouldn't matter how attractive he is, I would not be interested.

My income doesn't really matter because it not about what he does but it's about motivation and goals.

I don't care what friends or family think so.

It’s a very broad question. I mean, I recognize that my boyfriend is not as objectively attractive as a friend of mine who is a male model, but I am sexually attracted to him, even though the male model is more physically attractive objectively.

If the guy has the right personality and we have chemistry, he just has to not be appalling in order for me to find him irresistible. In that case, I’ll take the guy with the money, thank you very much.

Now if we’re talking about poor with sexual compatibility/chemistry vs rich without, I’d go with the poor stud, without taking appearance into much consideration.

All in all, I think sex is very important for a successful relationship and it trumps both looks and money.
